[00:00:00] Speaker A: Welcome to the Point after show with [00:00:02] Speaker B: Kyle Mauer, Marshall heslaw, and Ian DeWitt. [00:00:05] Speaker A: This is the show where the guys [00:00:07] Speaker C: attempt to pick the winners of the [00:00:08] Speaker B: weekly NFL games along with some healthy [00:00:10] Speaker C: debate about current topics. [00:00:12] Speaker A: Let's go. [00:00:13] Speaker C: Oh, guys, did you guys know, I was just hearing this, that let's go is becoming cringe. [00:00:20] Speaker B: Well, I mean, you guys know that. I mean, is it because. Is because of, like, Brady used it so much and then now everybody's using. [00:00:30] Speaker C: I think it's just. I think it just had its moment and then it had more moments and then more moments after that and then just kept going and now it's like, oh. And it's just. It's just like too much. [00:00:40] Speaker A: So I took Patrick, some people out for their birthday. [00:00:43] Speaker C: The Odyssey is even getting roasted for a clip where Matt Damon runs in front of his army and says, let's go. [00:00:50] Speaker B: Wow. [00:00:51] Speaker A: Wow. [00:00:51] Speaker C: Anyway, I took my twins. [00:00:53] Speaker A: Yeah, I took your twins out for their birthday and had a blast with them. And during the birthday walk through Target to get a toy, they just said, you say bingo a lot. And I was like, you efforts. [00:01:10] Speaker B: Like, what? [00:01:12] Speaker A: And then I just kept saying in my head bingo as a response, like, bingo. And like, I was so mad or. And then I was like, do I say that for a lot of things? And I said it out loud. And Cecilia goes, you do say silly a lot too. And I'm like, oh, man, they're listening, man. [00:01:31] Speaker C: They're like a catchphrase guy. [00:01:33] Speaker B: Pay attention. [00:01:33] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:01:34] Speaker A: You are. [00:01:34] Speaker C: I mean, Ian is a little bit too. [00:01:35] Speaker A: But you. You like to be silly. [00:01:37] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:01:38] Speaker B: That's a bingo. [00:01:40] Speaker A: Yes. Literally. So. [00:01:42] Speaker C: That's right. [00:01:44] Speaker A: Yeah. I was pretty torn up about that for a while. I haven't been able to see him since. [00:01:49] Speaker B: So, guys, football officially has started. [00:01:52] Speaker A: Carson back. [00:01:54] Speaker B: Yeah. Woo. [00:01:55] Speaker C: Remarkable hall of Fame game. [00:01:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:58] Speaker B: Could he find himself there one day? [00:01:59] Speaker A: Haynes King. [00:02:00] Speaker B: Based on that game, [00:02:03] Speaker A: Haynes King and him had a heck of games in Georgia, Georgia Tech back in the day in College. Great. High 40s in that game. High 30s in this one. All right, guys, question of the day. You get a button that you press that gives you 500k. By the way, all questions that I have that have money involved for you guys. Like, you guys, like, well, money. How much does money really matter in my life? That's. [00:02:31] Speaker C: Who's impressed? [00:02:33] Speaker A: Well, let me finish my question. You get one button, and when you press that button every single time, you get 500k. But it also makes somebody that, you know, wait. [00:02:49] Speaker C: Somebody you Know or just kidding. Okay. [00:02:51] Speaker A: Don't know. Somebody that you don't know has the worst day of their life because of it. How many times you pressing that button? [00:02:58] Speaker C: We know nothing about what that entails. They don't die. [00:03:01] Speaker A: They're alive. [00:03:02] Speaker C: They don't die at the end of the day. [00:03:03] Speaker A: They live through it. For sure they live. [00:03:05] Speaker B: But that does. They. They could be paralyzed for life. [00:03:09] Speaker C: Okay. [00:03:10] Speaker B: That could happen. [00:03:11] Speaker C: Right. [00:03:11] Speaker B: That could be a pretty bad day. [00:03:13] Speaker A: Okay. It would be a bad day. [00:03:15] Speaker C: I mean, everybody's going to have the worst day of their life eventually. You're just making it happen now for somebody. [00:03:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Immediately. If anything, you're doing them a favor. [00:03:24] Speaker C: Right. [00:03:24] Speaker B: Because you're getting it out of the way. [00:03:26] Speaker C: I know the rest of their life is going to be better after this. [00:03:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Like so how many times? Well, the thoughtful mil. [00:03:35] Speaker C: Half a mil. [00:03:35] Speaker B: Half a mil, Man. [00:03:36] Speaker C: My thought, my thought process is I'm debating between two. Option one is I never press it what? Zero times. Option one. And I'm strongly considering that. [00:03:47] Speaker B: Wow. It's a moral consideration. It's not about money. It's about morality. [00:03:54] Speaker C: The other time would be like probably [00:03:56] Speaker A: hold on to that morality. Go ahead. Eight times. [00:03:59] Speaker C: It's either eight or zero. [00:04:00] Speaker A: Why eight? [00:04:01] Speaker B: Why eight? Mine, mine. My answer is either one or none. I'm either hitting it once or not. [00:04:08] Speaker A: I'm hitting this thing at least 20. [00:04:11] Speaker C: 20. What do you need that much money for? [00:04:15] Speaker B: Okay. [00:04:16] Speaker A: It's either 8 or 20. [00:04:17] Speaker C: Eight is about eight is approximately what I would need to comfortably retire now. [00:04:23] Speaker A: You did the math. That's what you were late for. [00:04:26] Speaker C: Doesn't everybody? [00:04:27] Speaker B: I mean everybody. Yeah. [00:04:28] Speaker C: Don't you know what you need have saved to comfortably live off interest for the rest of your life? [00:04:33] Speaker B: $500,000. [00:04:34] Speaker A: Say like I could that right now. [00:04:36] Speaker B: I can this button. I could do this all day. [00:04:42] Speaker C: Right. No, I don't need to be rich. But I would have then the security of not needing to work. I would feel more than I want [00:04:49] Speaker B: to personally uncomfortable from my own faith standpoint knowing that I have literally done something awful. You are doing something awful to somebody. [00:05:00] Speaker A: What if you went to confession right afterwards? [00:05:03] Speaker B: But confession does require a level of sincerity to it though. [00:05:09] Speaker A: It's not like you can totally be sorry there's a trade off for it. [00:05:13] Speaker C: Choose who. Who is the recipient of this bad day. [00:05:17] Speaker A: Like, oh, I'd definitely be pressing the button. More than 20 then if I get to pick. [00:05:22] Speaker B: If I couldn't think of 20 people [00:05:23] Speaker C: that I really despise. [00:05:24] Speaker A: But like you haven't well, you didn't work at Meyer long enough. [00:05:28] Speaker B: I could think of at least one. [00:05:30] Speaker C: I can think of one. I'd like to have a bad day. [00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:05:33] Speaker A: Let's say it on the count of three. [00:05:35] Speaker B: No, no, no, no, no. I don't. Three. [00:05:37] Speaker A: Jordan loves. [00:05:39] Speaker C: Get out of here. [00:05:40] Speaker A: All right, our next question on here. Since you guys didn't really want to give me an actual answer, you can instantly ask my question. Can I ask my question? [00:05:51] Speaker C: You don't need to change the subject and go out on a new smacker. [00:05:54] Speaker A: Okay, Keep it down. You can instantly solve one unsolved mystery in the history of the world. What one do you choose? [00:06:05] Speaker C: Why do the 49ers get injured so much? [00:06:09] Speaker B: Does God hate the lions? [00:06:13] Speaker C: Why did Oreo give up on Post Malone so quickly? Those were great. I would love hashtag AD I'd love to know. [00:06:23] Speaker B: Unsolved mystery. The grassy knoll. [00:06:28] Speaker A: Who killed jfk? [00:06:30] Speaker B: Who did it? [00:06:31] Speaker A: I'll give you a hint. It wasn't a magic bullet. [00:06:36] Speaker B: There had to be two of them. [00:06:37] Speaker A: I remember Mike Woolsey sitting in there just going, I don't know. I don't know if it's a magic bullet, guys. I see that it's in bold and their books, we paid a lot for these books. I don't know if it was a magic bullet. [00:06:48] Speaker C: Is that one that you have? I had like a personal interest in. [00:06:52] Speaker B: It's just interesting. Okay. [00:06:55] Speaker A: Like I just had to give an answer no. [00:06:58] Speaker C: And I'd be the one who knew. [00:06:59] Speaker A: So. [00:06:59] Speaker B: Okay. You really want an actual one where. [00:07:01] Speaker C: No, I was just curious if you have about that. [00:07:05] Speaker B: When I do my laundry, why am I always one sock short? Where's it going? [00:07:08] Speaker A: It's a great. It's a better. That's a better answer to that question. [00:07:12] Speaker B: Where did it go? [00:07:12] Speaker C: It's more impactful on your life after this. [00:07:16] Speaker B: I just think that answer is going to be more uninteresting. [00:07:19] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:07:20] Speaker B: Spell it out. [00:07:20] Speaker A: No, I'm good. [00:07:21] Speaker C: No, it is good. I tried hard to think about something that would be impactful to my life, but the most personally interesting to me are not too specific but like the ancient history ones and you know, I've had an opportunity to like visit some prehistoric sites where there's like Stonehenge type things where it's like some prehistoric civilization of humans did something sophisticated here and it so long ago. We're not talking about like cavemen here. We're talking about like a real functioning society that had a religion that they practiced and a A whole society of their own and. And a city and everything. And it was so long ago that we know nothing about them. We don't know why they built this. We don't know where else they lived or where they really came from. We're piecing together tiny nuggets of information, but, like, there were. There was so much that they did that we know. And again, it's so far we're talking thousands of years ago in history that we're just making guesses about why they. [00:08:24] Speaker B: You want to know why? [00:08:25] Speaker C: That's really interesting to me. I love it. [00:08:27] Speaker B: Do you want to know why? I wouldn't want to know. I would be. What makes Stonehenge so I think fascinating is because of the question of, like, what is this? [00:08:39] Speaker A: Right? [00:08:40] Speaker B: If we knew and it was something stupid, it would just be completely. [00:08:45] Speaker A: All right, Trevor, move this rock right here. [00:08:48] Speaker B: Guys, what if we, like, we're just trying to build a house now. [00:08:52] Speaker C: Here we go. [00:08:53] Speaker B: We're just trying to build this house. I want a circle house. [00:08:56] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:57] Speaker B: This is a failure. [00:08:57] Speaker C: Oh, man. I thought it would be better in my head. It looks so much bigger. [00:09:02] Speaker A: Are you sure we don't want to do a try? [00:09:04] Speaker B: Leave it. [00:09:06] Speaker A: All right. [00:09:06] Speaker B: I think, like, that's. [00:09:08] Speaker A: I'm gonna give you my answer. [00:09:09] Speaker B: The unanswerable things. That's only why. But I do. [00:09:13] Speaker C: I get that. I get that. [00:09:14] Speaker B: I also appreciate your answer, though. [00:09:16] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:09:16] Speaker B: I can appreciate it. [00:09:17] Speaker C: Thank you. [00:09:17] Speaker A: This is a very niche answer. Okay. It's really just for you two. No one else in our listening audience. Does it really pertain to who? Eddie. This guy? [00:09:32] Speaker C: Are you kidding me? [00:09:34] Speaker A: This guy Eddie. Eddie. [00:09:37] Speaker C: What if he's out there listening? [00:09:40] Speaker B: All right? [00:09:40] Speaker A: Unsubscribe. [00:09:41] Speaker C: The most random stray somebody's catching. [00:09:44] Speaker B: He can't even defend himself. [00:09:46] Speaker C: He's a real person. [00:09:47] Speaker A: Yeah, okay. Real guy. I know. I know. He's an actual person, apparently. Was his name Addie? Did you guys hire him? [00:09:57] Speaker C: You sat next to him at a wedding reception. [00:09:59] Speaker A: Oh, I sat next to plenty of people. I didn't know they were in a photograph together. That was a whole other thing. That was a whole other thing. I looked over and said, who the heck is this guy? [00:10:08] Speaker B: I've been coming to my favorite Eddie memory is, like, we haven't seen this guy in years. And then out of the blue, he, like, invites everybody over. [00:10:18] Speaker A: You mean the wedding? [00:10:19] Speaker B: Oh, no. He, like, invited people over to his [00:10:22] Speaker A: house for, like, a little get together. [00:10:26] Speaker B: It was like a Christmas thing, and we all were there, and he had his Girlfriend at the time. [00:10:31] Speaker C: Yep, yep, yep. [00:10:32] Speaker B: And everyone's like, wow, this is just like, the one Eddie moment of the year, I guess, like, and then we haven't seen anything. [00:10:37] Speaker C: He's still around. [00:10:39] Speaker B: Yeah. He's apparently getting married. [00:10:40] Speaker C: He's teaching at the college for a little while. [00:10:42] Speaker B: He could be. He was. [00:10:43] Speaker A: Yeah, Yeah, I think he was. Right. Speaking of people, I want to fight. Justin Manson writes in who wins in the fight, Max Crosby or Kirk Cousins? How about that? [00:10:51] Speaker B: Apparently neither of them did. Didn't they both get suspended? Do you know, like, a practice or something? Well, not like officially suspended suspended. They. They were like, the coach, like, sidelined them for practice. [00:11:01] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah. Wow. [00:11:02] Speaker C: Get yourselves in line. [00:11:03] Speaker A: You want a little bit of, you [00:11:07] Speaker C: know, he pushes his glasses down on his nose a little bit. [00:11:10] Speaker A: There's a conspiracy out there, guys. All right. Some people are saying that they wanted Mendoza to get those early reps in practice with the first team, but didn't want to hurt Kirk's feelings, so they [00:11:24] Speaker B: tried to hurt him physically. [00:11:25] Speaker A: No, they got him suspended. Like, hey, yeah, go lead this, you know, insurrection over there. And whoa. I mean, riot. [00:11:35] Speaker B: It is strange that someone. Crosby's been around long enough to know that you don't hit the quarterback that way. [00:11:43] Speaker C: Right. [00:11:43] Speaker B: Especially in training camp, you're not hitting your QB one that way. Like, he's. He would. [00:11:49] Speaker A: Rookie. [00:11:49] Speaker B: He. Yeah. And he. Like that. And I. I have a hard time. I haven't really heard a lot of people bragging on Kirk in, like, the football sphere normally. Like, it's not like Russell Wilson, where everyone. Like, once he's gone, everyone's talking crap about him. You don't really get that with Kirk Cousins. So I do generally think people. [00:12:10] Speaker A: I know. Last year, I thought that he was, like, walking around with an anchor after coming back after that with that Achilles. That's right. Yeah. [00:12:18] Speaker B: Yeah. But it's got nothing to do with, [00:12:20] Speaker A: like, you don't think people were ragging on him for that? Like, I don't know. [00:12:23] Speaker C: That's not. Not that he's not criticized. [00:12:25] Speaker B: Yeah, not that he's not criticized. I mean, liked on the team, it's like Aaron Rodgers. Like, from our perspective, we don't really care for Aaron Rodgers because he doesn't shut up and he says really stupid stuff sometimes. Yet somehow the people that play with him love him. Like, they. They go to bat for him. So clearly he is a very good teammate. And I would. I'm just saying that I get the same feeling from Kirk, so I am surprised that Max Would maybe cause a little bit of a conflict. Ultimately. What I'm saying is I kind of agree with you. [00:13:01] Speaker A: Do you think it's a conflict or more of a kerfuffle? [00:13:05] Speaker C: Oh, so we're not even answering the question where. [00:13:08] Speaker A: I would like to hear your answer first. But. Or next. But I want to hear. Ian. Kerfuffle conflict or actual conflict? Yeah, yeah. [00:13:16] Speaker B: I think it probably started off as a kerfuffle, and then it turned into an actual thing. [00:13:21] Speaker A: Okay, Kyle. Who wins? [00:13:23] Speaker C: Yeah, I'd be skeptical. I think. I think Kirk is the underdog in a fight. [00:13:28] Speaker A: Really? [00:13:29] Speaker C: Kirk is the underdog in a fight, but I think he's better as an underdog. So I'd be. I'd be taking bets on Kirko chains. [00:13:38] Speaker B: I was shocked the first time I saw him without a shirt on, which I know how that sounds. [00:13:42] Speaker A: Right. How many times have you seen it? [00:13:46] Speaker B: Well, when they was on a private browser. [00:13:48] Speaker A: Kyle. [00:13:49] Speaker B: The video came out incognito. The video came out with him on the Vikings with the chains, and he'd have a shirt on. And I was. He was ripped. He was, like, shredded. Which you sometimes forget that these guys who kind of look like a gooberry are, like, shredded athletes. [00:14:06] Speaker A: Then you see Mahomes. They're a good. Greatest quarterback we've ever seen. Dad bod. [00:14:12] Speaker C: It's true. But, yeah, I would throw some respect at Kirk Kurko Chains. He might. He might just throw money at actually [00:14:19] Speaker A: hearing that nickname again. I feel like he would get hit, and then, like, you know, some people, like, they get punched and their tooth falls out or whatever. Like, he comes up and, like, has a gold tooth instead. Like, you punch the gold into his teeth, turned him into Kirko. [00:14:32] Speaker C: I think we'd end up with a. You. Like that moment where Max would get what's coming to him. [00:14:36] Speaker A: I feel like it'd be more like Geno Smith. [00:14:40] Speaker B: I don't know. I feel like the. The Michigander and crowd. Oh, they're both from Michigan, by the way. [00:14:46] Speaker A: Wow. Do you think they were doing an emu. MSU conversation? [00:14:51] Speaker B: Maybe. [00:14:51] Speaker A: Maybe that's what started it. Thank you for. Thank you for entertaining that idea. Come on. You're like, what an idiot. Marshall. All right, fine. [00:14:58] Speaker B: They would have probably played against each other. [00:15:00] Speaker A: Maybe. [00:15:01] Speaker B: Well, I. Well, the teams would have played against each other, but I don't know each other. [00:15:05] Speaker A: Yeah, he's a lot older. [00:15:07] Speaker C: Okay, have we settled that matter? That important question? [00:15:10] Speaker A: Kerfuffle. Yes, indeed. Guys, today our episode is about a time capsule. We're Going to go back in time. [00:15:19] Speaker C: Okay. [00:15:23] Speaker B: It's a better sound effect. [00:15:24] Speaker C: Wonderful. You guys have your shovels? Did you bring your shovels? [00:15:29] Speaker B: I have. [00:15:30] Speaker A: I missed the sound for shovels. [00:15:31] Speaker B: My backo. [00:15:32] Speaker C: Your back. We did put a lot of predictions in there. Thank you. All a little. A little deeper. A little deeper. I'm sorry. [00:15:43] Speaker B: Put that picture of Kirk away. What are you doing? [00:15:48] Speaker C: It's time to dig it up. Time to dig this up, Pull it out of the ground. See? Summer. Do you guys remember the summer of 2025? You remember this summer last year? [00:15:59] Speaker B: I did. I tore my ACL and I was on. I wasn't walking. [00:16:02] Speaker C: You were on crutches. I was homeless. [00:16:05] Speaker B: Oh, that's right. [00:16:07] Speaker C: Anyway. And the end of the air conditioning. [00:16:09] Speaker A: Everything was good. [00:16:10] Speaker B: Yeah. It's like. It was rough. [00:16:12] Speaker C: We were looking forward to another great season of football, and that's what we got. Of course. Well, with lots of surprises, and we are. We're breaking tradition here by getting a lot of. Surprisingly, no one will believe this, but we actually got a lot of predictions wrong this time. [00:16:30] Speaker B: What? [00:16:31] Speaker C: Usually we're batting a thousand. Usually we're profits with crystal balls. And listeners are writing in, asking us how we know the future. But not this time. You know, we sucked. [00:16:45] Speaker B: I. But sometimes we make predictions that are just a little off, but, like, time timeline wise. As in, like. [00:16:54] Speaker C: Yes. [00:16:55] Speaker B: I was not completely wrong. [00:16:56] Speaker C: Yes. [00:16:57] Speaker B: About Tony Romo. [00:17:00] Speaker C: We gotta call that one. [00:17:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:02] Speaker C: To be fair, [00:17:07] Speaker A: for those of you that don't know, Ian predicted that Tony Romo would have a drive with some illegal substances. [00:17:16] Speaker B: Yes. My prediction was a little harder than what? [00:17:19] Speaker A: Yeah, A little bit tougher. That was like a 9 out of 10. And what happened was like, if you watched, it was like a very happy, wholesome, 2.5 out of 10 drunk. [00:17:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. [00:17:30] Speaker A: But when I saw your grandma and grandpas who died, you know, 20 years ago, however. Yeah. [00:17:35] Speaker B: I was dying laughing when I saw the headline because I was like, I [00:17:39] Speaker A: couldn't believe the video of him doing the Dak Prescott hips. Like, we need you to walk across this line. He just starts doing the Dak Prescott warm up hips. [00:17:49] Speaker B: The poor guy's probably gonna lose his career over this. So I do. Well, I don't know if I feel bad driving under the influence. [00:17:56] Speaker A: What if that was. What if that was the worst day of his life and somebody got 500 grand from it? [00:18:01] Speaker C: All right, I'll take. I'll start hammering that button. [00:18:03] Speaker B: If that's. [00:18:04] Speaker C: If it's just gonna be rich and powerful people who Just like have a bad day. [00:18:08] Speaker A: This could be the owner of an NFL team. 32. [00:18:13] Speaker B: He would press 32 [00:18:17] Speaker C: twice on Sunday. [00:18:20] Speaker A: Well, let's examine some of our. [00:18:21] Speaker B: Although you own any packers stock. [00:18:25] Speaker A: Oh, it could be Ash bought you some. [00:18:27] Speaker C: Oh, no, she didn't. [00:18:29] Speaker B: You could be you. [00:18:30] Speaker A: You told us a couple months ago. [00:18:32] Speaker C: Did I? [00:18:33] Speaker A: Yes. What on here? I'll find the tape. [00:18:37] Speaker B: Oh, we'll find the receipts. [00:18:39] Speaker A: All right. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Let's get moving forward or backwards. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Wow. Or let's stay in time and be present. [00:18:45] Speaker C: As we discussed, we're going to look at what we. What was predicted on this program one year ago. We're going to run through it fairly quickly because there's a lot to get through here. First, there's some mailbag stuff. A few listeners wrote in with their predictions because they knew we were doing a mail a time capsule episode. Justin Mattson wrote in a question. Who makes the AFC and NFC title game? We made some predictions real quick. Marshall didn't answer because I abstained. He abstained because it had to do with his pick. That was later in the show. But on. In response to that prompt, Ian said, bills and Ravens on the afc. Lions and Rams in the nfc. [00:19:21] Speaker B: Oh, I got one of them. I got one of Those. [00:19:24] Speaker C: Was represented. [00:19:24] Speaker A: One out of four. [00:19:25] Speaker B: 25. There we go. [00:19:27] Speaker C: I said Bills over charges on the AFC lines over commanders in the nfc. Rick Baxter sent in a bunch of questions for us. I'll go through those as quick as I can. He asked us to, by the way, [00:19:38] Speaker A: Rick, I love the amount of questions you give us. [00:19:42] Speaker C: Rick loads us up with a surplus of questions that we can be picky and choose from. It's really fun. He asked us to set our NFC north end of season rankings. We were totally off. Ian said, Lions, Vikings, Bears, Packers. That's almost a reverse order. Lions, Bears, Packers. No, Marshall said Lions, Bears, Packers, Bears. [00:20:01] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was really intense about those Bears. [00:20:04] Speaker C: They're going to be second and last at the same time. Somebody we need to do a better job this time of typing in the answers as they come in while we're doing this show because it helps us next year. So we were way off on that. We were asked, does Travis Kelsey retire after this season? Ian and I said, yes. Marshall said, no, never. He was correct. [00:20:26] Speaker A: The enemy is he's got that dad. [00:20:28] Speaker C: We argued about it, actually. Actually, as I recall, that was a contentious topic. [00:20:32] Speaker B: Should he have though we had we [00:20:34] Speaker C: elevated a team whose record will exceed expectations. That was the question. Ian said the Cardinals. He was wrong. Marshall said the Colts. You could argue who was right. You could argue who was right. [00:20:48] Speaker A: Except very much so argue that they [00:20:51] Speaker B: missed the playoffs though. Right? Yeah, but I don't know. I'm just. I'm like trying to remind myself I'm [00:20:56] Speaker C: not expectations like a five win team. [00:20:58] Speaker A: Yes. [00:20:59] Speaker C: And they were a nine win team. [00:21:01] Speaker A: Daniel Jones. They went like. [00:21:02] Speaker C: Yes. [00:21:03] Speaker A: Honestly game winning streak. [00:21:05] Speaker C: That's why I marked it in green. I said yeah. I said you got it right. I said you got it right. [00:21:09] Speaker A: I'm willing to argue they were very [00:21:11] Speaker B: hot at the beginning of the season too. [00:21:13] Speaker A: Danny Dimes. [00:21:15] Speaker B: Yeah, they cooled off pretty heavily. But yeah. [00:21:18] Speaker C: Speaking of Kelsey brothers, I'm drinking a garage beer. You know this is Kelsey Brothers brand. [00:21:22] Speaker A: Didn't know. Cheers to that. [00:21:23] Speaker B: Wow. [00:21:23] Speaker C: And what furthermore America, you know who where it is produced. It is produced at Founders in Grand Rapids. They produce all this garage beer. They contract with the Kelsey brothers to produce their garage beer brand which is now one of my go tos. I keep it stocked in my beer fridge. [00:21:39] Speaker B: Is it good? [00:21:40] Speaker C: I like it. [00:21:41] Speaker A: Hashtag free EB. [00:21:42] Speaker C: Yeah, keep it going. I bought a big case of it for the bachelor party. It was at this weekend. How'd you golf? Not bad actually. [00:21:49] Speaker B: The best of our group served you well. [00:21:51] Speaker C: They did. Yeah. My mid range game is. [00:21:54] Speaker A: Take credit for it, Ian. [00:21:55] Speaker C: Pretty. [00:21:55] Speaker A: I will. [00:21:55] Speaker B: My clubs. My clubs would be good for you because they were tailored for my height. Some of them were a little. A little short, but yeah. [00:22:03] Speaker C: Yeah. Well thank you for that. It was clutch and I. And I was the best golfer of our group of seven. [00:22:07] Speaker A: Do you know kids don't know the word clutch? [00:22:10] Speaker C: Really? [00:22:12] Speaker B: Yeah, they do. [00:22:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:13] Speaker C: Cuz. [00:22:13] Speaker B: Yeah, they do. What I hear kids say clutch all the time. [00:22:16] Speaker A: A lot of. A lot of like non sports kids don't know the word clutch. [00:22:21] Speaker B: I mean at Lumen I guess it's pretty much all sports kids. [00:22:25] Speaker C: So I think of like manual transmissions. [00:22:28] Speaker B: Wow, you're so funny. [00:22:30] Speaker C: I said Raiders. I was way off. Timmy's record will underperform in comparison to their expectations or team ability. Marshall said the Vikings. Bears and Commanders, I guess you could say I thought the expectations were low for the Vikings last year and they performed. I would say they exceeded expectations. They were like a 9 and 8 team. [00:22:54] Speaker B: They were. They were 9 and 8. [00:22:56] Speaker C: So I'm not giving you. I'm not giving you that one. [00:22:59] Speaker A: All right. [00:22:59] Speaker C: Ian said the Bears and Commanders would be Bears. [00:23:01] Speaker B: Obviously. No, but Commanders I think would. I would agree they were in the NFC championship. [00:23:07] Speaker A: More of a jaden Daniels quarterback Are [00:23:09] Speaker C: you gonna take credit for that? [00:23:11] Speaker B: No but the the question is it at it says you know what they [00:23:15] Speaker A: say about everything before but all right [00:23:16] Speaker C: if you want it you can have [00:23:18] Speaker B: it it counts you can want it's [00:23:19] Speaker A: a 50% you make it green yourself. [00:23:22] Speaker C: We were asked to predict the teams with the best and the teams with the worst. Regular season records. None of us were right on any of them. [00:23:29] Speaker B: Who was? [00:23:30] Speaker C: Marshall said Ravens best, Dolphins worst. Ian said Ravens best, Browns worst. I said Bill's best, Giants worst. [00:23:37] Speaker B: Browns had to be close. [00:23:38] Speaker C: At least they were a five win team and there were four three win teams. Don't ask me to where were the Dolphins? [00:23:46] Speaker B: I feel like the Dolphins had to be down there pretty they were bad. [00:23:51] Speaker A: Let's get to this next one is a fun one. Yeah quarterbacks who will shock everyone with their performance this season. Ian Michael Penix Jr. Kyle Burrow will have a bad year. [00:24:04] Speaker C: Okay, how did those do? [00:24:06] Speaker B: I'll be honest. I didn't pay enough attention. [00:24:08] Speaker A: Michael Penix. [00:24:10] Speaker C: Did he play much? [00:24:11] Speaker A: No. And then he got injured. [00:24:12] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:13] Speaker B: So bad. Yeah, I nailed that one. [00:24:15] Speaker C: Burrow got injured. So I'd call that a bad year. I'm taking that [00:24:20] Speaker A: in it. [00:24:21] Speaker B: By the way, injuries count. [00:24:23] Speaker A: Tim DeWitt haven't seen his name in a while. What's up with that? Tim, we miss you. [00:24:27] Speaker C: We miss you, Tim. [00:24:28] Speaker B: Yeah, we haven't done a lot in a while, but that's true. [00:24:32] Speaker A: I'm ready for it. I'm just excited for him. [00:24:33] Speaker C: Tim rattled off about nine different takes in a row. Real fun stuff. [00:24:38] Speaker A: Hit me with a few of them. [00:24:39] Speaker C: Spicy. He says Bills will finally best Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. Didn't happen. [00:24:45] Speaker B: They did get to the playoffs and Kansas City didn't. [00:24:47] Speaker A: So yeah, we'll market a yellow. [00:24:50] Speaker B: And didn't the Bills beat them in the regular season? [00:24:53] Speaker A: Wow. And he had Lions Bills in the Super Bowl. [00:24:56] Speaker C: The Bills have a strong history against the Chiefs in the regular season. When you know Detroit versus Philly NFC champ game leading to Lions versus Bills Super Bowl. It didn't happen. Incoming JMO breakout year. Gibbs leading rusher didn't happen. I think he was seventh or something. [00:25:12] Speaker B: He was up there but yeah, I [00:25:13] Speaker A: think split in time though. [00:25:14] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:25:15] Speaker A: 7th. [00:25:15] Speaker C: Ravens will choke again in the playoffs. They didn't make the playoffs. Love will be average at best in the pack with him. I disagree that that is correct. He was very much. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Did they win a playoff game? [00:25:24] Speaker A: Here's my favorite one. [00:25:25] Speaker B: They didn't win a playoff game. [00:25:26] Speaker C: McCarthy will shine for the Vikes, [00:25:31] Speaker B: McCarthy's not even going to be playing next [00:25:33] Speaker C: year and Bears will be a.500 at best club. And they were actually quite good. So sorry, Tim DeWitt, that I'm giving you zero on that. [00:25:43] Speaker B: Yeah, that's fair. [00:25:45] Speaker C: But hey, that's about on par with the rest of us. Then we made some formal predictions. [00:25:50] Speaker A: You know, kind of this. The normal ones. Who's gonna win the Super Bowl. [00:25:53] Speaker C: We checked the boxes. We got to go on record for this stuff. [00:25:56] Speaker B: We're supposedly. Yeah. Basically the award, the NFL awards. [00:25:59] Speaker A: We went through some mvp, some offensive player of the year. Rookie. Yeah. [00:26:05] Speaker C: Last year. You got to take us back then. So you got to remember these weren't crazy at the time. Now they might sound stupid. So listener, don't give us too much of a hard time. [00:26:15] Speaker A: Defensive player of the year, all three of us, unanimously, we all said Aiden Hutchinson. [00:26:20] Speaker C: Aiden Hutchinson. So we agreed he had a mediocre. [00:26:24] Speaker B: It was like not a bad year, but definitely not, obviously. [00:26:28] Speaker A: Woof. [00:26:29] Speaker B: Jack Campbell, you could argue, was probably the best defensive player on that team. [00:26:33] Speaker C: So for the super bowl, winner and loser, Marshall said the Ravens would beat the Cowboys. Ian said the Rams would beat the Bengals. And I said the Bills would beat the Lions. In this Super Bowl. None of those were. Were at all correct. For the league mvp, Marshall was calling Dak Prescott. [00:26:50] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:26:51] Speaker C: Ian said Joe Burrow. And I said Justin Herbert. [00:26:55] Speaker A: I liked the Joe Pick, but I like the spices. [00:26:58] Speaker C: Not bad. [00:26:59] Speaker A: Let's skip those rookies. I feel like we don't even know many of them still to this day. Besides Asha Genti. [00:27:05] Speaker C: Right. Who actually did win offensive rookie of the year was. [00:27:09] Speaker B: I don't even remember. [00:27:11] Speaker C: Was it TMac? [00:27:14] Speaker A: Oh, Tyrion McLaren or not McLaren. [00:27:19] Speaker C: Yeah. From the Panthers. [00:27:20] Speaker A: Panthers. [00:27:21] Speaker B: Who is the defensive rookie then? [00:27:24] Speaker C: I forgot I had that and then I forgot it. Offensive player of the year. Marshall said Jaden Daniels. Ian said Puka Nakua. I called out Jameer Gibbs. The winner was actually Jackson, Smith and Jigba. [00:27:38] Speaker B: I was close with Puka, though. I'm pretty sure he was up there. [00:27:42] Speaker A: Carson Schwessinger. [00:27:46] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, from the Browns. How can we not forget both of you? Said Jim Harbaugh for Coach of the [00:27:52] Speaker A: year so bad they had to go get Mike McDaniels to be his coordinator. [00:27:57] Speaker B: Hey, who was coach of the year? [00:27:59] Speaker C: It was Ben Johnson. I called out Ben Johnson, who was a runner up for that award. [00:28:07] Speaker B: He was up there. [00:28:08] Speaker C: We each predicted one coach who will be canned. [00:28:12] Speaker B: I was the only one who got it wrong. [00:28:14] Speaker C: And it was incorrect. Ian said Brian Schoenheimer would be one and done. He was not. I said Brian Dabel would be canned. That was right. Marshall was also right about Mike McDaniel. He ranted about the Dolphins in this episode last year. I wonder who we'll rant about this time. [00:28:28] Speaker B: Get ready. [00:28:30] Speaker C: We all tried to pick a halftime performer. Halftime performer. [00:28:34] Speaker A: I wish mine was right. I picked Drake. [00:28:36] Speaker C: Ian picked the Backstreet Boys. Not bad. I said it was going to be a duo with Post Malone and Dua Lipa. We were not correct. It was Bad Bunny. Who? [00:28:48] Speaker A: Bad Bunny. [00:28:49] Speaker C: Yeah, he crushed. [00:28:50] Speaker A: It was really good. Yeah, really good. [00:28:51] Speaker C: It was like an award winning performance. [00:28:54] Speaker B: Loved it. [00:28:55] Speaker C: Then we did our big takes where we had something creative. You know, something not everybody else is predicting. [00:29:00] Speaker A: Something spicy. [00:29:01] Speaker C: Interesting. [00:29:02] Speaker A: Okay. [00:29:03] Speaker C: Nobody else is. No one. Other shows are stuff. [00:29:06] Speaker A: All right. [00:29:07] Speaker C: You have to listen to the point after. To get these kind of Prescott mvp and. And the Cowboys make the super bowl [00:29:15] Speaker A: and Kyle Pitts will be a top 10 or a top eight tight end of the NFL. [00:29:20] Speaker C: And that's not very spicy, actually. And it did happen at the time. [00:29:24] Speaker A: Very spicy. [00:29:25] Speaker C: Okay. A little top eight. [00:29:26] Speaker A: If you the memes live for Kyle Pitts. [00:29:28] Speaker C: He ended up being. [00:29:30] Speaker A: Are you on the memes? [00:29:31] Speaker C: I know, I know. I understand. I understand. [00:29:35] Speaker A: Who's ever phoned that is. Shut it off right now for the love of everything. [00:29:40] Speaker C: Okay? [00:29:40] Speaker A: Figure it out. [00:29:41] Speaker C: All right, all right. [00:29:45] Speaker B: I said Rams go to the super bowl, beat the Bengals. Obviously it didn't happen, but I had. Stafford will be fine. It'll work out. Staverton was mvp, so. [00:29:56] Speaker A: That's right. His back thing last year, everybody worried [00:29:59] Speaker B: about his health, his back. [00:30:00] Speaker A: Didn't he like, talk about like sleeping on some weird table? [00:30:04] Speaker B: I don't know. But there was like the big story coming out of training camp was with Stafford's back. [00:30:09] Speaker A: Ah, the back. [00:30:10] Speaker B: And I said he was going to be fine. [00:30:11] Speaker C: And who's number two behind him? Wasn't it Jimmy Gee? I don't remember who his number two was, but that was a topic because Stafford will probably be hurt. And it wasn't. [00:30:21] Speaker B: It was amazing. MVP season. [00:30:23] Speaker A: Mvp. [00:30:24] Speaker B: Well, obviously he was good. [00:30:26] Speaker A: You're right. [00:30:27] Speaker B: Well, they obviously didn't get to the Super Bowl. They were very close. [00:30:31] Speaker A: I actually think you might be wrong on that prediction because he wasn't fine. He was great. [00:30:39] Speaker C: You signed, your word was fine. [00:30:41] Speaker A: It'll work out. [00:30:42] Speaker B: The fine was more like he's gonna be. [00:30:44] Speaker A: He might have his worst day of his life. Right? [00:30:49] Speaker B: No, no, no. [00:30:50] Speaker C: Okay, so we've got a couple of yours in [00:30:54] Speaker B: Patriots go to the playoffs. [00:30:55] Speaker C: I also said that you did, which was good. You. This is a rare undershoot of a prediction. One of those where we. We weren't spicy enough. Just like your Kyle Pitts won. He ended up being number two in the league and receiving yards. You should have gone higher. You. Same with you, Ian. You should have gone even. [00:31:13] Speaker A: There's a couple predictions in this and I'm like. [00:31:15] Speaker C: Because it would have been. Or. [00:31:17] Speaker A: Or. And because that changes a little bit of my predictions a little bit later. [00:31:20] Speaker C: This is a lesson. Sometimes when you feel good about something, don't hedge your bets. [00:31:24] Speaker A: I say just playoffs, but I will [00:31:27] Speaker B: say I do think while the Patriots got to the playoffs, I did not expect them to have, quite frankly, that easy of a road to the Super Bowl. They had arguably the easiest road. [00:31:40] Speaker C: Yes. [00:31:40] Speaker B: And they get to the championship game where the Broncos lose Bo Nicks. They're not in the Super Bowl. Bonix plays that game. [00:31:46] Speaker C: Wow. [00:31:47] Speaker B: I'm not convinced. [00:31:48] Speaker C: Oh, you're a Bo lever, huh? [00:31:49] Speaker B: I'm not a Bolivar as much as just watching that game. The Patriots offense sucked and they literally only won on like one play. [00:31:59] Speaker A: It was an awful game to watch. [00:32:01] Speaker B: It was terrible. [00:32:02] Speaker C: Right, right. [00:32:03] Speaker B: And then they got to the super bowl and of course they got blown out. [00:32:07] Speaker C: Yes, definitely. Yeah. The polar opposite of what was happening at that time on the NFC side. Or it's just fireworks. Just exciting. [00:32:14] Speaker A: Kyle, best predictions. Ian, I don't know if you paid attention to him. [00:32:19] Speaker C: Hey. [00:32:20] Speaker B: Hey. [00:32:20] Speaker C: I thought we could just skip mine. We could just get mine. [00:32:22] Speaker B: Chargers have the highest scoring offense. [00:32:24] Speaker C: Yeah. That was not even close. [00:32:26] Speaker A: I said that the Point was pretty good, though. [00:32:28] Speaker C: Their defense was great. [00:32:29] Speaker B: Yeah, it was like ranked number one for. For a hot minute there, I thought. Oh, no. Well, it was kind of waffling because the Seahawks defense obviously. [00:32:37] Speaker C: Right. But it was a strong defense. [00:32:39] Speaker A: Don't get joked about that. [00:32:40] Speaker C: I didn't make any defensive predictions. [00:32:42] Speaker A: Right. [00:32:42] Speaker C: But I did say that the Point after would break our previous single episode download record. And we did not. Actually. We've got to do better. We've got to get the ratings up. We've got to get more listeners. We got to strategize here, guys. How can we get more listeners on pots? We can break our past records. [00:32:58] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:32:59] Speaker C: We got to grow this Point after community. We can't stagnate. This episode of the Point after is brought to you by celebrating. [00:33:09] Speaker B: That's how we do it. Y. I Forgot we had those on there. [00:33:13] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. Ian also said the Steelers would win a playoff game, and they didn't. [00:33:18] Speaker B: They didn't. But they got to the playoffs, so I. [00:33:23] Speaker A: There were. These weren't. [00:33:25] Speaker B: I'm not that disappointed in my predictions, but maybe they weren't hot enough. [00:33:29] Speaker A: We're gonna get hot. [00:33:31] Speaker C: I want to challenge you two to get a little hotter. [00:33:34] Speaker B: Let's go. [00:33:34] Speaker A: Challenging me to get a lot. I'm gonna go first time. [00:33:38] Speaker C: Wait, wait, wait. Do we want to do our listeners first? A listener sent us some predictions. [00:33:42] Speaker B: Yeah, we have at least a couple. [00:33:44] Speaker A: Fine. [00:33:45] Speaker B: Claire, do it. [00:33:47] Speaker A: Who? [00:33:47] Speaker B: Lovely. Clair de Witt. My wife. [00:33:51] Speaker A: My wife. [00:33:52] Speaker B: She gave us two. [00:33:53] Speaker C: Wow. [00:33:54] Speaker B: First one, Justin Jefferson will request a trade. [00:33:58] Speaker C: Wow. [00:33:58] Speaker B: Before the deadline. [00:34:00] Speaker A: No way. With his girlfriend playing with his hair. You kidding me? They're not doing that in Denver. [00:34:07] Speaker C: Denver? What are you talking about? [00:34:09] Speaker B: Why would they go to Denver? [00:34:10] Speaker A: Leg is awful. It looks like a. Back of my elbow. [00:34:14] Speaker C: What is he talking about? [00:34:15] Speaker A: You talking about Justin Herbert? [00:34:16] Speaker B: No, I said Justin Jefferson will request a trade for the deadline. [00:34:22] Speaker A: Okay. [00:34:22] Speaker C: Justin Jefferson Herbert is in la. [00:34:25] Speaker B: Yeah. Even if I said Herbert, why would we be talking about Denver? [00:34:28] Speaker A: All right. [00:34:29] Speaker B: I feel like you just wanted to talk about that. [00:34:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:34:34] Speaker C: We're forcing something. [00:34:35] Speaker B: I know. That was. [00:34:37] Speaker A: Listen, I was going to talk about his hair weather, you guys. [00:34:40] Speaker B: Will JJ get out of there. [00:34:42] Speaker A: Okay. [00:34:42] Speaker B: Do we like that? [00:34:43] Speaker C: I'm not. I'm not really into it. I'm not really into. I think this season will actually be better. I think he's going to be. [00:34:48] Speaker B: Can't be worse than last year. [00:34:49] Speaker A: I'm buying the Vikings. [00:34:51] Speaker B: Yeah, you're buying. Going all in on Kyler. [00:34:53] Speaker C: I think Kyler's gonna, you know, revive jj. [00:34:57] Speaker B: Well, we saw. [00:34:58] Speaker A: I don't think he's gonna revive jj, but I think he's going to be revived. [00:35:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:35:03] Speaker A: Tyler. [00:35:04] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Oh. [00:35:05] Speaker A: I mean, he's the one that needs a revival as much as anybody. [00:35:09] Speaker C: I agree. [00:35:09] Speaker B: Now he's got the best wide receiver in the league to throw to. [00:35:12] Speaker C: That's what you want. [00:35:13] Speaker A: But he hasn't thrown the ball deep in, like, five years. [00:35:17] Speaker B: I guess we're gonna find out. He's got a couple shifty guys. [00:35:21] Speaker C: That's a stretch. [00:35:22] Speaker B: He's got a couple shifty guys, though. Addison's pretty quick. [00:35:25] Speaker A: I like Jordan. [00:35:26] Speaker B: Addison, who's the other. They got another one. [00:35:28] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't remember. [00:35:29] Speaker B: I can't remember. I just remember JJ and Addison, and I remember Addison is pretty quick on his feet. She also wrote in that Sam Darnold will be a one hit wonder. And then she also wanted to say she hopes that's not true because he seems like a swell guy. [00:35:44] Speaker A: Thank you. I actually like the second part is better than I do the first. [00:35:49] Speaker B: She just. I asked her if she had. I asked her if she had it taken. She was like, that's the only one I can come up with. [00:35:54] Speaker A: Ask me the five hundred thousand dollar question. I think I'd get a good answer out of her. [00:35:59] Speaker C: Alex Baxter writes in the spicy take. The Rams will make the playoffs. [00:36:07] Speaker A: Oh, my God, my mind just blew. [00:36:12] Speaker C: I know, I know. [00:36:13] Speaker B: This kid, this kid is way too hot. [00:36:16] Speaker C: He's like this guy, I don't know, he's 12 or 13 or something like that and. But he did also say that Detroit will make the wild card round, which is making the playoffs. Thanks, Alex. [00:36:27] Speaker B: So high. [00:36:27] Speaker C: And he said the Cardinals ceiling for wins this year is two. [00:36:33] Speaker A: Now, who is this again? [00:36:34] Speaker C: Sorry to disappoint you, Marshall. This is Rick's youngest son. [00:36:39] Speaker A: Some might say he's the mvp. Yeah. Of the Baxter household. [00:36:44] Speaker C: Patrick Laughlin. Oh, who says hi to Marshall? [00:36:48] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:36:49] Speaker C: He specifically said say hi to Marshall's. Don't say hi to Ian. Anybody was joking. It was joking. It was a funny. It was a thing. [00:36:55] Speaker A: I was like, he thinks you're a smoke. Yeah. [00:36:58] Speaker C: He says he is hammering the under on the Lions wins for the season in lieu of the news of the injury to their new center. [00:37:08] Speaker B: Ah, that wasn't good. [00:37:10] Speaker C: With bad news. [00:37:11] Speaker B: They brought it in to help revitalize the O line because it just got. They basically cleaned house on that O line. This is like a brand new. That's a bad time. [00:37:19] Speaker C: You kind of need one of those. [00:37:21] Speaker B: You do, you do. [00:37:22] Speaker C: It's a difference maker. Okay, so those are some of our listener predictions. I've got a few that Rick Baxter sent into us, but they're mostly questions for us, which we can kind of get to. [00:37:37] Speaker A: All right, let's go spicy then, guys. We have some takes that we've kept from each other and we have a shared doc. We would like to think that we plan a little bit in this, you know, podcast here and there. You know what I'm saying? [00:37:49] Speaker B: Are we giving all three of ours at once? [00:37:51] Speaker A: Oh, I want to give you one right now and just sit. I want you to sit on it. [00:37:55] Speaker B: Give it to me. [00:37:56] Speaker A: Lamar and Joe Burrow will not be on their teams next year. [00:38:00] Speaker C: Oh, fun. Wow, that's crazy. [00:38:06] Speaker B: Can I do my prediction? [00:38:07] Speaker C: I can see. I can see, bro. I can see, bro. For sure. Yeah. [00:38:12] Speaker B: So, okay, this is like a part spicy, part, like, you know, bear with me here for a second. [00:38:19] Speaker C: Okay. [00:38:20] Speaker B: I think the less spicy version of this is there's always head coach firings. Always. And there's almost at least one that happens mid season. And I do have a prediction for who. Two of those. [00:38:35] Speaker C: Okay. Two mid season firings, at least. [00:38:40] Speaker B: You know what? This is hot. Yeah, I'll say. Two mid season firing. [00:38:43] Speaker A: This could earn you a million dollars, by the way. [00:38:46] Speaker B: Zach Taylor. [00:38:47] Speaker A: Oh, Bengals. [00:38:49] Speaker B: Zach Taylor. [00:38:50] Speaker C: Brutal. [00:38:50] Speaker B: I think he's already been on the [00:38:51] Speaker A: hot seat for sure. [00:38:53] Speaker B: And I think going into the season, if the Bengals struggle and they hit halfway, maybe slightly over halfway through the season, and they're still struggling, and they're not. They don't have enough wins, I do think he finds himself losing his job mid season. [00:39:10] Speaker C: Okay. [00:39:12] Speaker B: And I also have Nick Sirianni fired as well. Eagles season, mid season. [00:39:16] Speaker A: Didn't I do a whole thing about him getting fired? [00:39:19] Speaker B: When I say mid season, then they [00:39:21] Speaker A: won the Super Bowl. [00:39:22] Speaker C: What did we learn from this? [00:39:23] Speaker B: When I say mid season. [00:39:24] Speaker A: Before the end of the year. [00:39:26] Speaker B: Yeah, before the end of the year. There's a couple games left. I'm more. I put Ceriani on there. Or if we're like, I don't know, but Zach Taylor's the one. I actually legitimately think I'm more hot on. On Taylor, which does. I'm gonna give you my second one because it kind of folds into it because that means I think the Bengals are gonna suck. And I'm not convinced the Ravens are gonna be hot stuff either. So I actually have the Steelers not only winning their division, but winning another playoff game. [00:40:00] Speaker A: What? [00:40:00] Speaker C: You're doubling down on a take. [00:40:02] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:40:03] Speaker C: You're going back. [00:40:04] Speaker B: Mike McCarthy, Aaron Rodgers, Coach of the year. [00:40:09] Speaker C: Yeah, they're reuniting. Oh, my gosh. I can't believe you are doing this. I can't believe you're recycling last year's take. [00:40:17] Speaker B: But I'm only recycling it because it's a new head coach. This isn't Tomlin. This is Mike McCarthy. He's got a history with Aaron Rodgers, and everybody was saying, oh, Aaron Rodgers has got to hate this. You know, he's gonna retire. He doesn't want to be with Mike McCarthy. You know what? Mike McCarthy sucks. Forgetting that they want a Super bowl together. [00:40:38] Speaker C: He had every chance to not go [00:40:39] Speaker B: through with this, every chance to leave that team. He knew McCarthy was going to be his head coach, and he stayed. That's got to tell you something, it's a good point. [00:40:48] Speaker C: If he wasn't really into it, he [00:40:50] Speaker A: would not have done his high pitch going. [00:40:53] Speaker B: Yeah. And when I saw that Aaron Rodgers will be back now, I don't know. Sometimes we always have these, like, revitalization things, like his swan song. I don't know what it is, but I don't. I don't know how far they're gonna go in the playoffs, but I. [00:41:09] Speaker A: Can I give you a firing, by [00:41:10] Speaker B: the way, I think the AFC is a little up for grabs. [00:41:13] Speaker A: I think Shannon's getting fired this year. [00:41:16] Speaker C: Rough dang. [00:41:17] Speaker B: He. Somebody already. Somebody already hit the button for him. Okay. You can't do it twice. [00:41:23] Speaker A: I think it's gonna happen twice. [00:41:26] Speaker B: Since he got in a car accident. [00:41:28] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. Oh, very, very bad. Concussion. Wasn't allowed to be at practice. Yes. [00:41:34] Speaker C: Poor guy. [00:41:35] Speaker B: I think that would be a mistake. [00:41:37] Speaker C: I think it would be, too. I think they should try. [00:41:39] Speaker B: I was actually. I was processing, like, some of my, like, how I felt about certain teams and, like, where I thought people were going to be. And I did kind of always think that the Niners are good because of him. There are some teams where I'm like, the Ravens are good because, like, Lamar Jackson's good. The Bills are good because Josh Allen's good. I'm a little worried about those two teams because you never know what you're gonna get when you get a new head coach. I mean, they could get, you know, explosions. They could get, like, a great guy. They could end up with, like, a Mike Vrabel experience where they go right to the playoffs. [00:42:19] Speaker A: You are just flexing how well you're saying. Variable these days. [00:42:22] Speaker B: Been practicing in the mirror. [00:42:23] Speaker C: Has been practicing. I feel like. [00:42:25] Speaker B: Or they get their neck. They get a Matt Patricia, and then all of a sudden they're. [00:42:29] Speaker A: They're the same man. Patricia. [00:42:31] Speaker B: And I do think the coaching, I think it matters. Like, obviously it matters, but more than people realize. I think people are just going to assume, like, the Bills and the Ravens are going to be fine. They got two of the best quarterbacks in the league. Like, there's no way that they're going to fall off the. That hard. [00:42:48] Speaker A: Kyle hasn't even looked me in the eye since I've been giving these takes. So, like, I want to hear his take. He's got to have something in the Brewer. [00:42:55] Speaker C: I have one that's about coach firings. [00:42:57] Speaker A: Thank you. You never fire people. Go ahead. [00:43:00] Speaker C: I predict that. And I'm going. I'm particularly going. Yours are spicy. My spicy. Do I predict that fewer than three head coaches will be fired this coming season? [00:43:11] Speaker B: The average is like five or six. [00:43:14] Speaker C: We had 10 this past season. I predict a pendulum swing back the other way. With so many new coaches in the league, I think we're going to see kind of a low number this season, lower than the average because there's so many either well regarded, well tenured, entrenched coaches and then new coaches. And I don't see most of them being one and done. So I think it's going to be fewer than three. There's a couple that have a pretty hot seat. The kind of Aaron Glenn and maybe another one or two. [00:43:48] Speaker A: Forgot about Aaron Glenn. [00:43:49] Speaker C: I don't think others are going. So that's my firing. [00:43:53] Speaker A: A lot of these teams that hired a coach, I feel like they know what they got the first year and it's going to suck, but they have to deal with it. So I think that I could see that coming. That number coming down. I don't know, about three. Three's a whole. That's a whole other side of the pendulum. [00:44:09] Speaker C: That's why it's a spicy day. But I think we've. We had a much greater number last [00:44:14] Speaker A: year if it happens with us, you know, and we're right. We got your three fire eggs right now. Right. [00:44:20] Speaker B: Okay, what's your next one? [00:44:23] Speaker A: Baker's going to be the quarterback for the Steelers next year. [00:44:27] Speaker B: He was complaining on the wow not that long ago. [00:44:30] Speaker A: Disrespected. He was talking about being disrespected by the offer the Buccaneers gave him. What happened the last time he got disrespected? Oh, he went to the Panthers and he proved you guys all wrong on a Thursday Night Football for the Rams. Right. [00:44:48] Speaker B: Is Todd Bowles still the head coach over there? [00:44:51] Speaker C: Yes, he is. [00:44:52] Speaker B: He could be one that loses his seat. Zach Taylor, Sirianni, Aaron Glenn. I'm already at 4. [00:44:58] Speaker A: Are you anti Italian? [00:45:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:45:00] Speaker A: Sirianni. [00:45:02] Speaker B: Did I say his name wrong too? [00:45:03] Speaker A: No, it's making a joke. [00:45:08] Speaker B: Okay. [00:45:09] Speaker C: Okay. [00:45:10] Speaker A: What about we talk about a coach getting hired? The opposite of fired. [00:45:13] Speaker C: Oh, you have a take like that? [00:45:14] Speaker B: I do. Who's getting hired? [00:45:15] Speaker C: Hit us with it. [00:45:16] Speaker A: Mike McDaniel as a head coach. Oh, yeah. Again? [00:45:19] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:45:20] Speaker C: Interesting. [00:45:21] Speaker A: Might even replace the coach that he has right now. [00:45:23] Speaker C: No, I think the Chargers would have to do well if the Chargers did really well offensively for a change. He's going to be the hot oc. [00:45:32] Speaker A: A lot of things coming out of that camp that they are loving what [00:45:36] Speaker C: that so you must be prediction, predicting a good year for the Chargers. [00:45:40] Speaker A: I am prediction. [00:45:41] Speaker B: I'm also predicting a good year for the Chargers. [00:45:44] Speaker C: Oh, don't do it. Don't ride that bandwagon. I've been there before and it's burned me. [00:45:49] Speaker B: Okay. [00:45:50] Speaker A: Got anything else spicy for us, Kyle? [00:45:53] Speaker C: Yeah, here's one for it. Well, is it spicy? I don't know. It's. But it's a topic that I'm interested in, so I'm making a prediction relating to it. [00:46:00] Speaker A: NFL owners, I'm ready. [00:46:02] Speaker B: They're all fired and they're all given to the people. [00:46:10] Speaker C: Stop. Stop. Like, we can't. [00:46:12] Speaker B: It's yours, the people. [00:46:14] Speaker C: A different kind of fantasy. What? I don't know what you're doing. [00:46:17] Speaker A: Maine. Oh, that's not awful. [00:46:23] Speaker C: You were doing this thing with your shoulders. I was. [00:46:25] Speaker B: That's because how he talks in the movies. [00:46:28] Speaker C: Okay, that's better. That's better. Okay, listen up because this will probably initiate a bit of like a ramble, preachy thing. My prediction. [00:46:39] Speaker A: Let's mute our mics. Go ahead. [00:46:40] Speaker C: 32 Equity will negotiate a small ownership stake and at least one more broadcast partner. Shall I continue? [00:46:54] Speaker B: Yes. [00:46:55] Speaker C: Okay. 32 equity, maybe for those who don't know, is the venture arm of the NFL. So the act, the NFL itself, the central or governing body of this league, is its own business and has an. A venture army which invests in other things. It has ownership over other brands. And some you would know, like, some I don't like. Formerly NFL Network, ESPN, now they own 10% ESPN. That is a new. Negotiating a new deal that was negotiated. They also have a small stake in Paramount. And so I think that this is like low key, super interesting, and one of the more impactful things for the future of the league because shifting to having an. An ownership stake in these media companies really transitions the NFL from being a content supplier to those companies to being in that business to becoming more of a media conglomerate themselves. And this is very new. Like, there's like a. This. There isn't a history of this. It's. It's a new thing that is unfolding now where we know that the NFL is like the main thing for those broadcast companies. [00:48:30] Speaker A: It's a religion. [00:48:32] Speaker C: Well, it's. It's big. But like these TV companies, they want to get in on this NFL business. Like, that's where the money is made. Like all the big things that people watch every year are NFL. [00:48:43] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:48:43] Speaker C: And then the second big thing is NFL and the third biggest thing. And then way down the list. There's I don't even know what some big college TV show or like a different sport. [00:48:51] Speaker A: Mostly there are free minor leagues. [00:48:54] Speaker C: Yeah, it's. So the traditional arrangement has just been money exchange where the NFL gets a lot of money and the companies get to play their games, broadcast them. Well now those are, they're going into business together where the NFL is owning a stake in those broadcast companies, not just getting money from them, but now they're part owner of some of these broadcast companies, specifically ESPN which is 10 stake is substantial and a small stake in Paramount. And I am predicting that this trend will continue and that by this time next year they will have negotiated some sort of a equity agreement with another broadcast partner. They work with all, there's Amazon and Netflix and Fox and CBS and you know, all the channels. And I believe that this will change a lot of things over time for this sport and the way that we all consume it. I don't know that it will be perceptible in just the coming year. I'm not making predictions about how our experience in the coming year will change, but I am saying that the groundwork is being laid for a very different future for this sport where you know, just how we watch things in the next decade is it's going to be tremendously different. And I think we're going to look back to this time as a turning point like the where and when games are broadcasted will be very much affected. What kinds of programs from news to documentaries to entertainment, that's all going to be influenced because of this. Because the NFL is actually a part owner in these companies, not just the supplier of their favorite content. The who gets to create and broadcast what and who gets to star in it will be affected. I think it's going to raise over time interesting questions about antitrust, about neutrality, about transparency. There's going to be a lot of integrity related questions asked posed by fans of the NFL. [00:50:58] Speaker A: Kind of like why Rossini and Vrabel weren't really covered by espn. [00:51:03] Speaker C: That could be represented as like a, a small emblematic example. But I think there's a lot of programming like the, the television, the televised stuff that has to do with the NFL. Like the actual games are a small part of that. They're the, they're the big focal point. [00:51:20] Speaker A: But yeah, but they build all of their networking. Their like shows are built around what that is. Yes, and it's like NFL Live and NFL Post game and NFL Pre game and NFL Pick them and NFL Nation, Sports Nation. [00:51:34] Speaker C: And think about all the other supporting the other related programming that has to do with the support for like so much. [00:51:40] Speaker A: So they need an ESPN 1, 2, 3 and 4. [00:51:43] Speaker C: Totally. And Netflix does their quarterback and receiver show and Hard Knocks does their show. And just. And there's all kinds of sports talk shows and all kinds of docs and movies that get made. And the NFL is getting. Is beginning to penetrate all of those businesses more directly and be involved. And so it's not independent parties creating a lot of these. It's much more the NFL having their hand in all of it. [00:52:10] Speaker B: Yeah. All I know is it's bad for the sport because it means I can no longer easily watch a game without having to be a part of all of these different services. And I won't. And they will find that they will eventually hit a bubble where they will go too far and they've spread themselves out too much to where they start losing viewers. Because people are going to be like, I'm not paying five different subscriptions to watch football. Right. Not gonna do it. I've already hit that train. I don't pay for anything that I'm not already using. We already use prime, but I use that for other stuff. I don't have Netflix and I'm probably not going to get it and I'm probably not gonna do like Peacock or anything like that. I have already missed games. If they continue to spread themselves through different. Like I. It will be harder. [00:53:18] Speaker A: Can I tell you about the bigger worry that I have? Like, I think the TV part in the channels and subscriptions cost to the consumer much of last year's conversation. And not to downplay it, I feel like everyone is where they are on that. I think the part about talking about them owning espn. Let's just take a look at how great the. Let's go to another sport. Mlb. Okay. Major League Baseball. Who goes to listen to the MLB Network for their. For their baseball coverage? Nobody. Do you know who goes there? People that own an MLB team and then are mad that their team isn't on there enough. Like, they aren't. They're getting calls from teams about, why am I not putting this team up? Why am I not doing this? I don't like how you talked about my team. That's why the NFL Network is a dud too. Nobody goes to the NFL Network to get their pregame, post game or coverage in general. They don't. They want to go to the worldwide leader in sports. And honestly, I think that's kind of a thing of the past of espn because ESPN isn't really much of a, like, journalism news Hardy. Yeah. Like you're telling me that Sham Sharania, who is involved in every NBA rumor out there, has nothing to say about Kawhi Leonard. [00:54:45] Speaker C: Right? [00:54:46] Speaker A: You're telling me that. No. Like I got to think that these leagues have so much influence on the people that are narrating their news that now let's turn that up even more. Now you're owning 10% of our business. Damn sure they're going to have somebody. You better not be talking about the NFL that way. And if they are, Ryan Clark, Goodbye. You're not talking about player safety like that. [00:55:13] Speaker C: You are hit by my key concern, which is these are integrity issues and the news. And anytime in the future when there are occasions where anyone, where imagine there are scandals, imagine there are journalists who want to be critical. Imagine anyone wants to say anything or produce content for a large audience that is in any way critical of the league in constructive ways, the league is then in a position of authority to veto and prevent its production. [00:55:48] Speaker B: Yeah, my only. The reason I don't even care about that side of things is because most of the time the talking heads are talking out of their ass anyways. If I'm being honest, they're not really providing very insightful, you know, conversations. Most of the time. I don't really need to hear someone talk about why this team is good or bad. I can just watch their games or watch the highlights and I can. [00:56:16] Speaker C: Well, yeah, that's true, but. [00:56:18] Speaker B: And otherwise, if I want news, I just need like, what happened? Who did it? I don't need to know everything that. I'm not saying that that's not a valid concern. Like integrity of like news is obviously important because if they own 10 of something, they don't want something getting out there. They could definitely filter it, which would be something that I would be concerned about. [00:56:41] Speaker A: You just talked about not being interested in all that other stuff. [00:56:44] Speaker B: But I'm talking specifically about the shows of like First Take or whatever, like NFL show you're watching on espn. I don't watch those. I don't care for. [00:56:55] Speaker C: To your point, this sort of a change produces more watered down, non controversial, fluffy, sugary content because no one is able to say things of substance anymore. When this, when this sort of monopolistic takeover occurs in any industry, what happens is no one's allowed to speak their mind or speak the truth or the truth can't come out about things. You can't say anything that ruffles feathers. You can't say Anything that rocks the boat or threatens the business. And so you have to lower it to a lower common denominator. You have to say only things that are not spicy, that are not threatening, that do not point out flaws in the system, that are not point out disparities, do not support, like flaws with the fan experience or flaws with how certain players are treated or racial discrepancies or. Or the way the vulnerable people are treated or. Or scandals behind the scenes. Those cannot be covered anymore. So we don't get to. We just get to talk about, like, who do you have in your top five this year? And, you know, like. Like, who's the real goat? Defensive end. [00:58:07] Speaker A: I guess my big worry about that, Kyle, is. I think that's already happening, of course. [00:58:11] Speaker C: But I'm saying. [00:58:12] Speaker A: I'm saying so much of what. [00:58:13] Speaker C: It's so much worse in this scenario. [00:58:15] Speaker A: But I could think of a lot of situations that were like that. I'm totally in agreement. But I'm thinking of, like a show I listened to for years, had a take about players in the MLB going and playing in Cuba when they had a dictator running their country. Like, and then this certain company talked about them on ESPN waves, and the next day they were shut down. They were off the air for a day and suspended because of that. [00:58:45] Speaker C: Right, Right. [00:58:45] Speaker A: So, like, those kind of things happen. I definitely worry about what that's going to be and to Ian's point about not wanting to look at all these other things. Okay, so let's say Hard Knocks is on prime now and you have prime because you use it for other things. You're telling me that you would go out of your way to watch Hard Knocks or you wouldn't, because, you know that thing. [00:59:05] Speaker B: I don't. I don't go out of my way to watch these things. [00:59:09] Speaker A: As of now, I'm asking you, follow me. In this hypothetical that's on Prime. [00:59:15] Speaker B: Okay. [00:59:15] Speaker A: You could watch it now. Would you watch it? [00:59:17] Speaker B: I had Netflix forever and I had the quarterback series and wide receiver series. I could have watched that stuff, and I never did. [00:59:23] Speaker A: Okay. [00:59:24] Speaker B: It's mostly about. For me, it's. I get why people like watching and reading that stuff. I don't really have the time to care, to want to watch and read all that stuff. That's not like, something that I'm doing. I. The max that I do is I will. I mostly just want to stay in touch of, like, what's going on in the league. I don't really need people's opinions on that, which feels like you would be when you have the NFL with 10 stake, they would be coming in and let's say Dan Orlovsky says something that they don't like and they would come in and say like, you can't talk about like that. And then it filters down what he's saying. That's obviously not great. I, I'm not disagreeing with that. I want to be very clear. I'm not disagreeing. Like, that's not good. That's clearly bad. It's because. It's why, you know, you don't watch half of any news right now is because that's all already happening in other areas of our lives. What I'm saying is like, I never really consumed that content personally, so it would not. [01:00:29] Speaker A: Like hot takes don't really interest you. You want the facts? [01:00:32] Speaker B: Yeah, I just want to know what, what's going on. [01:00:34] Speaker A: I guess to me, who got injured? I think the part you're not hearing from Kyle is that beside like, what, how many passing yards somebody has, the facts about a. Reporting of a situation will not become fact anymore. It will be. They will lose its validity. They will lose, you know, they have a cloud of, of tainted judgment over what they are, who they are. [01:00:59] Speaker C: Well, I think Ian gets it. [01:01:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I get what that means. I'm not. That's what I said. They would filter out certain pieces of information, but there are. Okay, if I don't like how ESPN is doing it, then I don't have to use espn. I can find something different. There are plenty of other third party places that you can tap into. I mean, the Athletic is New York Times. That's not NFL. I could easily do that if I really wanted to. I'm not gonna pay for it. [01:01:30] Speaker A: But [01:01:32] Speaker B: you could go. [01:01:33] Speaker A: You could make somebody's worst day and then pay for it. Yeah, yeah, sure. [01:01:36] Speaker B: I mean, you can go to. Well, who's the score? Is that scorer? No, the score, the score. No, it's like a network. It's like a network thing. [01:01:50] Speaker C: Oh, okay. [01:01:51] Speaker B: There's Bleacher Report. [01:01:52] Speaker C: There's the Ringer. [01:01:54] Speaker B: Yeah, there's like a bunch of other stuff that if I find. And that's like what I've done with like my mainstream news. I try to find news as much as possible that is as unbiased. [01:02:06] Speaker A: Don't tell me you're the guy that says, who's your source? [01:02:10] Speaker B: I mean it. Why would that be a bad thing, though? Nothing. I just like to ask questions. But like, seriously though, like, if someone's coming up with a piece of Information of like, oh, I heard about this going on with the Chiefs. Well, who'd you hear that from? That. That already happens. [01:02:26] Speaker A: I heard he's looking fat. [01:02:27] Speaker B: Well, who reported? [01:02:28] Speaker A: Should have retired last year. Got my take. Right. [01:02:31] Speaker B: Because there are names already out there that people like, I can't trust that guy. That's not a good source. [01:02:38] Speaker A: So then you. I never reveal my sources. Let's get to our hot. Our. [01:02:44] Speaker B: Well, hold on. I wasn't even done. We spent so much time. I still had another. [01:02:48] Speaker C: Sorry, I didn't mean to make that so long. [01:02:52] Speaker B: You are. [01:02:54] Speaker C: I'm sorry. [01:02:55] Speaker A: Go ahead, Kyle or Ian, finish your sentence. [01:02:58] Speaker B: The last one that I had. So I already said that the Steelers win the division, go to the playoffs in part due to the fact that Zach Taylor most likely gets fired. And Ravens having a new head coach. Too much uncertainty on that. Not technically. Obviously. You know, Mike McCarthy's new over there, but not new to Rogers, which is kind of where my poll was coming from. Giants are gonna win their division. [01:03:20] Speaker C: Dang. I do not have that. [01:03:24] Speaker B: I feel that the NFC east has always been a little bit of a crapshoot. I think this was the first time in a while that they actually had, wasn't it? The Eagles back to back for the first time in like 20 plus years. [01:03:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:03:42] Speaker B: And I. I just think the Giants are due. I like dart. I like scatter. Boo. They got Jim over there or no John. Yeah, they got Jotnit. To be fair. [01:03:55] Speaker C: To be fair. [01:03:56] Speaker B: Who names their kid Jim and John? And they look exactly alike. I sometimes get them confused. I don't know. I kind of like what they got going on over in New York. I didn't look too hard at their schedule, but I promise, you do love a good. [01:04:12] Speaker A: Love looking at the schedule. [01:04:13] Speaker B: Strength of schedule. [01:04:14] Speaker A: You do love a good preseason rank. [01:04:16] Speaker B: The Lions are on their schedule. [01:04:19] Speaker A: Very low on the schedule. [01:04:21] Speaker B: Yeah, we're pretty late in the season, I think, when we play them, but, yeah, Giants win there. [01:04:26] Speaker A: I don't know if I'm buying that, but I like your spiciness. [01:04:29] Speaker B: Come on. [01:04:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I go hot. I like the spiciness. [01:04:33] Speaker B: All right. Our rewards. [01:04:38] Speaker C: Our rewards. [01:04:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [01:04:40] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:04:40] Speaker A: Just making sure you're with us. [01:04:41] Speaker B: Yeah. You're. [01:04:42] Speaker C: Sorry. I was looking something up for another take. We've got listener questions that are gonna do. We're gonna get to Rick's. Do we want to do those next? Yeah, a few of those. [01:04:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. [01:04:51] Speaker C: I cherry picked several that I thought were kind of fun. Two. Two that are about our picks. From last year. One what happened last season that you think people are learning the wrong lesson from heading into this year? You guys mull that over real quick. My the first thing that came to mind when I saw this question was a few particular quarterbacks who I think took a lot of heat last season. And my opinion is that putting the blame on them for how that season went is very unfair. A three that came to mind. C.J. stroud, Patrick Mahomes and Geno Smith. Maybe unsurprising that I would come to the defense of some of those, but I tend to think that those three teams had seasons that didn't go exactly as they hoped. And a lot of the casual fan likes to point at the quarterback as having had maybe a down year. My argument is that in the case of Geno and Stroud they both had tremendously bad offensive lines. The Raiders was ranked the worst in the NFL and Strouds was ranked in the bottom five worst offensive lines. And I think that we say it a lot but you cannot overrate how important the offensive line is and how strongly it correlates with quarterback success. And even my take a take this is. I don't know. This is an unsubstantial take. But my opinion is that if you have the best offense, you could take the best offensive line in the NFL. Every starting and every second string quarterback put behind that O line will make the Pro Bowl. I think that's how big the offensive line is. You can take all 32 second string quarterbacks and put them behind the number [01:07:01] Speaker A: 1o line take right there. [01:07:03] Speaker C: They will make the Pro Bowl. That's how big of a deal a good O line is. Now I'm asking that all these guys are good at playing quarterbacks. You give them time in the pocket, they will always find a reason. [01:07:15] Speaker B: I'm going to even counter. That's not a hot take. [01:07:19] Speaker A: That's a hot take. [01:07:20] Speaker B: No it's not. Shadir Sanders got to the frickin pole. I'm serious though. [01:07:25] Speaker A: Okay. [01:07:25] Speaker C: No, that's one second stringer. That's one. I'm saying all 32. But to your point it stands. [01:07:30] Speaker B: My point is that it's the Pro bowl is a joke. I think you. What I'm saying is I think you need a different standard. [01:07:37] Speaker C: All right. Okay. I would say it's a small part [01:07:41] Speaker A: of the say it's a Pro bowl caliber player. [01:07:43] Speaker B: I think I would say and could get to the playoffs. [01:07:48] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:07:50] Speaker B: Because that's what a real Pro Bowler would do. [01:07:53] Speaker C: Yeah, okay. I'll say both. Both could be true for 64 quarterbacks in the NFL. [01:08:00] Speaker B: 64. [01:08:01] Speaker C: I think that many guys behind the number 1o line would accomplish those two things. Last year, Gino and C.J. stroud had terrible O lines and terrible offensive coordinators. C.J. stroud, for example, his OC was terrible. They were one of the worst run offenses in terms of, like, their run plays. And they were the one of the most stubborn at calling, one of the top few in the most frequently calling a run on first down. And yet they were the one of the worst at actually having any success doing so. And throughout the whole season, they persisted in something they sucked at never correcting. This is terrible OC management. And so that offense was dysfunctional. CJ Stroud never got advantage second and third downs. He was always playing with second and third, second and long, third and long the entire season, scrambling to make something. Maybe he regressed a little. But to say the blame for the offense is entirely on him would be misplacing it. And I think the same could be said for Genos, who's even worse in terms of OC and O line and Mahomes. I think I would not actually agree with anybody saying he had a bad year personally as a player. I think his performance, given him his circumstances, was actually pretty good. So that's one thing that I would say don't take. The lesson from last year is like, those three teams had quarterbacks with bad years or the wrong quarterback. That's not the lesson I would take away. Do you have an answer to the question? [01:09:37] Speaker B: I think, Skip, if you don't. A lesson that people continually try to utilize is the offense, like, I gotta get the hot OC Specifically, we. They've learned that I need the hot OC because of Ben Johnson. Right, right, right here. [01:09:58] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:09:59] Speaker B: I need a hot OC because of Sean McVeigh. [01:10:01] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:10:02] Speaker B: Had a good year. I need a hot OC because of Liam Cohen. [01:10:05] Speaker A: Right. [01:10:05] Speaker B: Had a good year. [01:10:06] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:10:07] Speaker B: I think that is not the lesson to be learned. [01:10:10] Speaker C: Oh, okay, okay, okay. [01:10:12] Speaker B: Who won the Super Bowl? [01:10:14] Speaker C: Mike McDonald. [01:10:16] Speaker B: That defense. [01:10:18] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:10:18] Speaker B: You know how I live my life. [01:10:20] Speaker C: Yeah, that's right. [01:10:21] Speaker B: One defense. Yeah. Defense wins championships. For some reason, people don't want to win or to learn that particular lesson. [01:10:31] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:10:31] Speaker B: They want the hot, flashy offensive guy. Look at some of the. Todd Monken. [01:10:37] Speaker C: Yep. [01:10:38] Speaker B: Just got hired. [01:10:39] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:10:39] Speaker B: As a head coach. I think he's, you know, because of the success that he had with Lamar. [01:10:45] Speaker C: Jesse Minter is now. He's great. He's had great defensive success. Now he's a Ravens head coach. [01:10:50] Speaker B: So I just. I. It's one of those things where I'm like, they. Year after year, it feels like we continually go through the. I need the hot offensive mind. Head coach. Mm. And because they're going to look at the Lions as a prime example as this as well. [01:11:09] Speaker C: Right. [01:11:09] Speaker B: Oh, they lost Ben Johnson. Look how bad their offense was to your point. Reason, the Lions weren't very good offensively. Their O line sucked. [01:11:18] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:11:18] Speaker B: That was because of a retirement that happened that they didn't know about. And so they couldn't replace it. And they had an aging out. Glasgow. That team needed to revamp that O line way before. They just were too slow to do it. [01:11:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:11:32] Speaker B: And so. But then on the Seahawks side of things, you know, they revamped that entire defense. They have the dark side over there. They crushed it. I still think that they don't. People don't want to learn the lesson that defense is better. [01:11:50] Speaker A: I just don't know if I got an answer for that one. I need to chew on it. [01:11:53] Speaker C: Okay, real quick. Which of the three hosts deserves the most criticism for last year's predictions? [01:12:03] Speaker A: Not Ian, because he did the Tony Romo thing. [01:12:05] Speaker C: Oh, you definitely get points for that. [01:12:07] Speaker A: You skate on the rest of the year. I. Kyle. I need to, like, get, like, a sounder when you get on your high horse about NFL owners and neutrality and things like that and just, like, have, like, a horse, like, galloping in the distance. [01:12:22] Speaker B: I think statistically, Kyle was the worst on predictions overall. Marshall had some wins in there. [01:12:28] Speaker A: Thank you. [01:12:30] Speaker C: Marshall said Kyle Pitts would be top eight, which was not spicy. I would. I would criticize the memes. It's not spicy. [01:12:36] Speaker A: The memes. I understand you don't live in the memes. [01:12:39] Speaker C: Kyle Pitts is the perennial fantasy. Joe. [01:12:42] Speaker A: You probably use Facebook as yours. I know. [01:12:46] Speaker C: Is not spicy. [01:12:47] Speaker B: In some defense to him, he had Dak Prescott winning the MVP and the Cowboys making the super bowl, which was so bold, it didn't happen. [01:12:56] Speaker C: Jack winning MVP is not that spicy. He's like a. Is definitely a top five candidate most [01:13:02] Speaker B: years, but with a new head coach, one that was literally hired from within because they couldn't find anybody else. [01:13:09] Speaker C: I think. I think that's. It's a suitable. That's a suitable take. I'll give it a bending him. I'll give it up. [01:13:14] Speaker A: Sorry, Ian. Ian is my answer. Criticize him. Fight me. [01:13:18] Speaker B: I just defended you, Kyle. [01:13:21] Speaker A: Go ahead. [01:13:21] Speaker B: You know what, Kyle? You're right. [01:13:23] Speaker C: All right. [01:13:23] Speaker B: His takes suck. Yeah. [01:13:26] Speaker A: All right. All right. [01:13:27] Speaker C: It's hard to criticize what will be one of the biggest NFL storylines in December that nobody's talking about right now. And guess. A storyline. [01:13:37] Speaker B: I mean, someone's gonna get injured. Someone big. It's always either a firing or do [01:13:43] Speaker C: you want to have a deadpool. [01:13:44] Speaker A: Anthony Richardson getting traded for. Oh, somebody trading for him or. Or nine. [01:13:50] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh, him. [01:13:51] Speaker B: Not like McCarthy. [01:13:52] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:13:54] Speaker A: Let's say the memes and I call. [01:13:56] Speaker C: Okay. I think the December headline is who's getting called off the couch? [01:14:01] Speaker A: Philip Rivers. [01:14:02] Speaker C: We could be Philip Rivers. We could see a Joe Flacco. You know who else is on the couch right now? [01:14:10] Speaker A: A lot of people on the couch. Can I tell you about people who are going to be inducted this year to the hall of Fame? [01:14:15] Speaker C: Yeah, Him. [01:14:16] Speaker A: I'm curious. [01:14:17] Speaker C: Like, we just had the Drew Brees and Larry Fitzgerald and Adrian Peterson. [01:14:21] Speaker A: Oh, Gronk. [01:14:23] Speaker C: Okay. [01:14:23] Speaker B: Oh, he's up. [01:14:24] Speaker A: Richard. Richard Sherman. [01:14:26] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. [01:14:27] Speaker A: Le'Veon Bell. [01:14:29] Speaker C: What a list. [01:14:29] Speaker A: Cam Newton, Andrew Whitworth. I got 10 of them. Eric Waddle. [01:14:34] Speaker C: Huh. [01:14:34] Speaker A: Alex Mack, Big Ben. And now this is the one that, like, when he gets nominated, like, we're all gonna turn our TV on to watch it. Antonio Brown. [01:14:44] Speaker C: Whoa. [01:14:46] Speaker A: That's gonna be a speech. Okay. [01:14:48] Speaker B: He won't get in. [01:14:50] Speaker A: Oh, he'll get in. [01:14:52] Speaker B: First ballot, you think? [01:14:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:14:54] Speaker C: Dang. [01:14:55] Speaker B: I don't know. [01:14:56] Speaker A: His eight seasons are one of the highest eight seasons of all. [01:15:00] Speaker B: Terrell Owens didn't get in because of a lot of other stuff, though, too. Antonio Brown had. Was crazy. [01:15:06] Speaker C: Does AP get in on the first. [01:15:08] Speaker B: Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, he gets in. [01:15:11] Speaker C: Does Cam get in. In first? [01:15:15] Speaker B: Cam Newton. [01:15:16] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:15:17] Speaker A: The thing that I always. I don't think he's in. [01:15:18] Speaker B: First ballot as a quarterback. First ballot, you need a. You need a Super bowl win. I, I. [01:15:25] Speaker C: To be first. [01:15:26] Speaker B: I think first ballot, you need at least a Super Bowl. [01:15:29] Speaker A: Didn't you just say AP was. No doubt. [01:15:31] Speaker C: Well, he said as a quarterback. [01:15:33] Speaker B: As a quarterback. [01:15:34] Speaker C: Any other position? [01:15:35] Speaker B: Running back. Running back. AP's the only MV, like, the last MVP running back that we had. Like, he's like, people are. He is a very known commodity at that point. [01:15:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:15:47] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:15:49] Speaker A: I don't know. I look at, like, hall of Fames, and I'm kind of a little different about this. [01:15:53] Speaker B: So Cam was like a, like a. He burned very brightly, but burnt out very quickly. [01:16:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:16:01] Speaker A: Some might say Antonio Brown same way. But I think of, like, MLB does a good job of, like, can you tell the story of baseball without this certain player? They. They have some problem. Like, that phrase came from the mlb, which I like. But now I have a lot of criticisms for the MLB because there's a lot of history that is not in there. Hence steroids, the NBA, everybody's in the base. Or the basketball hall of Fame. Everybody. Like, if you're Ben Wallace's brother, you're in there. Boom. You were a brother with somebody on that defense. Hall of Fame. The NFL, I think, is the last standing benchmark of, like, we're holding a higher standard. So I would be very intrigued to see if they would lower that for somebody like Antonio Brown. First dance. And for Big Ben. [01:16:49] Speaker B: Big Ben won two Super Bowls. [01:16:51] Speaker A: Big Ben was not a great human [01:16:53] Speaker B: being, to be quite honest. A lot of these guys aren't. [01:16:57] Speaker A: Okay, but, like, you're gonna say the same thing about Antonio Brown. I feel like we should say the same thing about him. [01:17:02] Speaker B: Fair? Yeah, fair. [01:17:04] Speaker A: Okay. [01:17:05] Speaker C: Okay. [01:17:07] Speaker B: With that, Eli Manning gets into the Hall. I don't even know. Well, he is. Technically. He. He's not. That guy is not a first bat. Hall of Famer. [01:17:17] Speaker A: Good story by Strahan about him at the hall of Fame. Do you hear him in a speech? [01:17:21] Speaker B: No. [01:17:21] Speaker A: It's like, I'd go up to everybody. I'd dap him up. I'd give him this big, you know, rousing. Get him excited, right? And then he'd get over to Eli, who'd just have a straight face, and he'd say every time, good luck, young man. And then shake his hand. [01:17:34] Speaker B: Good luck, young man. I think Eli gets in at some point. He deserves. I think he deserves next year. [01:17:41] Speaker A: Bill Belichick here. [01:17:43] Speaker B: Yeah, that was a big story, him not getting in. Yeah, that's kind of criminal, actually. [01:17:50] Speaker A: All right, Kyle, let's. We got more from Rick. [01:17:53] Speaker C: There's another question. [01:17:54] Speaker A: Give us one more. [01:17:56] Speaker C: Excluding quarterbacks, what good team is one injury away from being completely screwed? And who is that player that can't afford to lose? We saw what happened to the packers last year when Michael Parsons went down. They didn't lose. They didn't win again. I don't think after they lost. [01:18:14] Speaker A: That's more with the Toyota Thon. [01:18:16] Speaker C: I think it was like five straight games. They were one of the hot teams. They were one of the hot teams until he went down. [01:18:21] Speaker B: Also lost Tucker Kraft, who was their leading receiver. Receiver at the time, though, too. [01:18:25] Speaker C: They lost him weeks prior. Weeks prior. And they still managed to win games. [01:18:29] Speaker B: Their offense took a dip, though. And then Their defense took a dip. [01:18:33] Speaker C: Yeah. The difference. Too many they had. The difference that he makes on the field is like you have the best offense or the worst offense defense. The best defense or the worst defense. [01:18:41] Speaker B: Just immediately. The only point I'm making is there was multiple big injuries on that team that you could argue played a big factor in that. [01:18:49] Speaker C: There were. They sustained a lot of injuries. That was like the big blow that meant the season's over. It's definitely over. This is done. [01:18:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:18:58] Speaker A: So in other words, who do I think is the offensive MVP that isn't a quarterback. I'm gonna go with John Defense. Okay. [01:19:08] Speaker C: This has to be a good team. Like a contender whose season is over when they lose this non quarterback. [01:19:16] Speaker B: What about Seahawks losing jsn jsn. [01:19:21] Speaker C: That'd be quite a blow. He carried a heavy load for them last year. [01:19:25] Speaker B: Rams. Garrett Puka. I think either of. I think if they lose Puka, that's hard. [01:19:32] Speaker C: Rams have a great roster but kind of weak on depth. [01:19:35] Speaker A: Like they. [01:19:35] Speaker B: They. [01:19:35] Speaker C: They sustain some industries. They are suddenly an average team. [01:19:39] Speaker B: Puka's a big one. I think for them. Puka's massively. [01:19:44] Speaker A: Can I tell you one who I would say maybe even. And this is like probably a weird one. You'd be like why would that person be it? Yeah. How about DJ Moore for the Bills? I couldn't name you another wide receiver on the Bills. [01:19:55] Speaker C: Keon Coleman. Okay, there you go. Right. James. James Cook carried the. He was the season leading rusher last year with losing that would be a pretty big deal. I think like a. Cortland Sutton for the Broncos. He carried Kyle. Kyle Hamilton. Hutch is a good answer. [01:20:16] Speaker A: I'd say Hutch they don't got. [01:20:20] Speaker B: They went 151 and he was out very early in that season though. They were. I'm just saying they went 151 and got the number one seed when he was out and he was out early. [01:20:33] Speaker C: I hear you. [01:20:35] Speaker B: I think a bigger one for the Lions is Jameer. I think if Jameer goes down. They just got rid of Montgomery. Pacheco's already on the injury list. [01:20:46] Speaker A: Ah, Pikachu. [01:20:47] Speaker B: And he's. And he's older too. So I would be a little worried about that team if they lose Jameer. [01:20:54] Speaker C: I just realized we haven't done our awards yet. [01:20:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:20:57] Speaker C: We've got a. We've got a rapid fire these guys before we. [01:20:59] Speaker A: Let's go quick. MVP guys. [01:21:01] Speaker B: Jameer Gibbs. [01:21:02] Speaker C: Jameer Gibbs. [01:21:04] Speaker B: I went okay. Hot on MVP because I was like I forgot we did the awards. And one of My hot takes was going to be that we're going to have our a running back mvp. [01:21:13] Speaker C: Oh, I love it. [01:21:14] Speaker B: And I wanted to give it to. I thought about it and I was like, yeah, there's a couple. Saquon and Christian McCaffrey were obviously very close. Yeah, I think some Jonathan Taylor could be up there. My overall take was going to be a running back is going to be mvp. If I had to pick one, I'm gonna be a little bit of a homer. I'm gonna go Gibbs. Yes, go Gibbs. [01:21:33] Speaker C: I like it. I'm going Mahomes. Okay. [01:21:36] Speaker A: I got a little resurgence, little bounce back. [01:21:38] Speaker B: You didn't sit with him at training camp. [01:21:40] Speaker A: I ignored it where he threw the ball. Work himself back into shape and he's not throwing at a center in the head. [01:21:49] Speaker C: I'm stealing your take from last year. I'm saying Dak wins it. Let's go. [01:21:53] Speaker A: Defensive player wasn't wrong, just early. [01:21:55] Speaker C: Yes, that's right. Defensive player of the year Ian Miles Garrett. That feels very Marshall repeat if I'm [01:22:02] Speaker A: just going to keep doing it until he's right. [01:22:04] Speaker C: You didn't even talk about the Colts. It was a tradition that the summer you would say. I'm thinking the Colts. [01:22:10] Speaker A: Screw you still coming up Maybe. [01:22:13] Speaker C: I think Jared Verse has a career year. [01:22:15] Speaker A: Wow. [01:22:16] Speaker C: Yeah. And yeah. Anyway. Offensive player of the year, Ian. [01:22:20] Speaker A: I don't like this answer. [01:22:21] Speaker B: Malik. Neighbors. [01:22:22] Speaker A: That dude couldn't even run to third base on a baseball game. [01:22:26] Speaker B: I said the Giants were going to win their division. [01:22:29] Speaker C: You got it. [01:22:30] Speaker B: I need at least another one. I could have picked Dart, but I think they generally give offensive player of the year to a non quarterback. [01:22:39] Speaker A: Right. [01:22:39] Speaker B: But I could. If I'm saying Gibbs is going to get it, then maybe I could give it to a quarterback over here. Oh, but would I give that to dart? [01:22:45] Speaker C: Just stick to it. [01:22:46] Speaker B: I'm just gonna stick with Malik. [01:22:47] Speaker C: I like it. I like it. Marshall. [01:22:51] Speaker A: I'm going with the one, the only Bijon Robinson. [01:22:55] Speaker C: You carried your fantasy team last year. I'm going with Jameer Gibbs as offensive player of the year. [01:23:00] Speaker A: Love it. [01:23:00] Speaker C: Offensive rookie of the year, Ian Carson Beck. [01:23:03] Speaker B: I watched a little bit of those highlights. [01:23:07] Speaker C: Okay. Marshall. [01:23:09] Speaker A: My Arizona Cardinals. You heard it right, Jeremiah. Love the ceiling. [01:23:15] Speaker C: Win for two. Okay, I'm going Omar Cooper, junior wide receiver drafted by the Jets. [01:23:23] Speaker A: I like that you had to put who they were from and what team. [01:23:26] Speaker C: Because sometimes the explanatory comments appreciated by our listeners. [01:23:29] Speaker A: Okay, I like it. [01:23:30] Speaker B: Okay. [01:23:30] Speaker C: Defensive rookie of the year Ian Arvell Reese. [01:23:33] Speaker A: Okay. [01:23:33] Speaker C: Marshall. [01:23:34] Speaker A: Giants linebacker Sony Sony Styles and that. I think that's more because of how awful Washington's defense was last year in comparison. There's going to be a big jump. [01:23:44] Speaker B: I'm realizing I went. [01:23:45] Speaker A: There's a team that went five. They went five years younger on their median age. [01:23:49] Speaker C: I'm sure it'll work out for you. It will be fine. [01:23:51] Speaker A: Five years. You hear me? Five years. That's a big difference in what your average age is for an NFL team. [01:23:58] Speaker C: They were an old roster for sure. [01:23:59] Speaker A: That's stunning. Lose five years. Yeah. [01:24:03] Speaker C: Okay, what was it? Did I answer? Caleb Downs, safety for the Cowboys, Coach of the year in [01:24:12] Speaker B: they're going to win a playoff game. They better have the coach of the year, Mike McCarthy. Wow. [01:24:17] Speaker C: Incredible. [01:24:17] Speaker A: How about you, Kyle? [01:24:18] Speaker C: I'm saying D'. Amico. Ryan's gets that team right this year and wins an award. [01:24:23] Speaker B: D', Amico, that's Texans. For some reason. Why I was confused with him with the Falcons. I don't know why. [01:24:30] Speaker A: Why would you think that? [01:24:32] Speaker B: I don't know. [01:24:32] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, that was Hareem. Morris. [01:24:34] Speaker B: Morris. [01:24:35] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:24:35] Speaker B: I don't know why I thought that. [01:24:37] Speaker A: I'm going. Ben Johnson. [01:24:39] Speaker C: You just changed it in the doc. [01:24:41] Speaker A: What? I saw you. What are you talking about? [01:24:43] Speaker C: I saw you. You just changed it. [01:24:45] Speaker B: Who did you have before? [01:24:46] Speaker A: I don't know. [01:24:47] Speaker C: Ben Johnson. Yeah. [01:24:49] Speaker B: All right. I guess I missed it. I remember seeing it, but I didn't register it. [01:24:53] Speaker A: All right, our next one for comeback player of the year. [01:24:56] Speaker B: Dan Campbell's aged out. It's too late now. [01:25:00] Speaker A: Aged out. [01:25:01] Speaker B: It's. But he's been. The expectations are too high for him now. [01:25:06] Speaker A: You know, I actually leave this podcast and like my face hurts from laughing and smiling so much. [01:25:12] Speaker C: Wonderful. [01:25:12] Speaker A: That's why you just make me giggle. [01:25:14] Speaker C: We don't even need list. [01:25:15] Speaker A: Thank you. [01:25:16] Speaker C: No, we love them. [01:25:17] Speaker B: I'd swear right now if I wanted to. [01:25:19] Speaker A: Go ahead. You wanna? [01:25:20] Speaker B: No, I don't. [01:25:20] Speaker C: Here's a fun one. Turning over newly comeback player of the year, Tyler. [01:25:26] Speaker A: Oh, sorry. [01:25:27] Speaker C: Marshall. [01:25:28] Speaker A: Tyler Murray. [01:25:29] Speaker C: I love it. He did miss a lot of games last season, so he probably qualifies as a comeback player. [01:25:34] Speaker A: There hasn't been an update to had in like months. [01:25:36] Speaker B: You almost had him too, Kyle. But I see you change that. [01:25:39] Speaker C: Well, I saw that. I saw that Marshall picked Kyler, so I switched mine away from Kyler. That was actually my first pick. [01:25:44] Speaker B: You guys both did have Kyler, so [01:25:46] Speaker C: I changed my answer to Jaden Daniels. [01:25:50] Speaker B: I'm surprised you didn't say Parsons because I thought about him. [01:25:54] Speaker A: He doesn't like to pick the packers for winning anything positive. [01:25:57] Speaker C: I mean, did you win the comeback player of award if you're awesome and then you get injured and you come back and you're just as awesome? [01:26:03] Speaker B: Yes. [01:26:04] Speaker A: You mean Jane Daniels. Well, go ahead, Ian, give your answer. [01:26:08] Speaker B: Didn't Joe Burrow do that, though, too? [01:26:09] Speaker C: Did he win that award? [01:26:10] Speaker B: I'm pretty sure he did. [01:26:11] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. Okay. [01:26:13] Speaker B: Tucker Kraft. [01:26:14] Speaker C: Okay. [01:26:16] Speaker A: You think you get an award for being good and then getting injured and then being good again? [01:26:21] Speaker B: Yes. [01:26:23] Speaker C: All right, I'll take that. That was a bad point. [01:26:24] Speaker A: Thank you. How about our picks this year? Who's gonna win? Kyle? [01:26:30] Speaker C: I think Ian will win. [01:26:32] Speaker A: Ian, who do you think is gonna win? [01:26:33] Speaker B: I think Kyle's gonna win. [01:26:36] Speaker A: I think I'm gonna win. [01:26:40] Speaker B: I saw that you picked yourself and I was like, I'm gonna. I'm gonna be nice. I'm gonna make sure that Marshall realizes he's the only one who picked himself. [01:26:47] Speaker C: I think Ian's gonna even the score because Marshall's won twice. I've won twice, Ian's won once. So it's gonna. [01:26:54] Speaker B: You've only got one on me. I want. Of course I win on the off year where everything's kind of weird and hard to predict. [01:27:02] Speaker A: How about our 1 seeds? Teams you guys say in the NFC and AFC will be the number one. [01:27:07] Speaker C: The state of Texas is going to have a historic year. The Texans and Cowboys will both be the first seeds in their conferences. [01:27:12] Speaker A: I like this. [01:27:13] Speaker B: This state of California is going to have it with the Rams and Chargers. [01:27:18] Speaker C: Oh, that's crazy. [01:27:20] Speaker A: I think the nothing I got the Rams and Broncos. I just got two really good defenses. [01:27:26] Speaker C: These farm animals. [01:27:27] Speaker B: We assume good defenses for the Rams. [01:27:30] Speaker A: I assume they were. Some might say they're sniffing around. [01:27:34] Speaker B: Aaron Donald, he was seen working out with. [01:27:38] Speaker A: Oh, I'm working out with them, too. All right, who's going to get the number one overall draft pick? Worst team in the NFL? [01:27:43] Speaker B: Browns. [01:27:45] Speaker A: Kyle. [01:27:46] Speaker C: Dolphins. Are you seriously about to. [01:27:49] Speaker A: All right, I want you to hear me out on this, okay? Okay. I'm going to give you my answer and then give me my explanation. I'm picking my Arizona Cardinals. Okay. I want you to know a couple things about me. I'm prepared to go against the Green. Okay. Okay. [01:28:05] Speaker B: Go. [01:28:06] Speaker A: I am going to be picking with the Cardinals a lot this year. [01:28:11] Speaker C: Okay. [01:28:12] Speaker A: My. One of my first upsets picks will be the Cardinals. Okay. [01:28:16] Speaker C: Oh, my. [01:28:17] Speaker A: I'm already letting you know. [01:28:18] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:28:18] Speaker A: Lock me in week one. [01:28:20] Speaker C: Okay. [01:28:20] Speaker A: Secondly, I'M not getting on this train of the Cardinals. For us to be good this year, I need to prove my fandom and that includes me suffering a little bit. [01:28:31] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:28:32] Speaker A: And then we're gonna get a Manning. [01:28:34] Speaker C: I understand now you missed it. [01:28:37] Speaker A: I'm getting a Manning next year. His name is Arch. [01:28:40] Speaker C: You're putting in the time. I like it. I respect it. [01:28:43] Speaker A: Thank you. [01:28:43] Speaker C: You're looking into the future. This is good. [01:28:45] Speaker A: I'm not just here for today. If I was here for today, I'd be alliance fan next week. Super Bowl. I got the Cowboys over the Bills. Wow, new stadium. Buffalo Bills not good enough. [01:28:58] Speaker B: They Bills just had a whole controversy about their new stadium already. [01:29:01] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, everybody's got a controversy. [01:29:03] Speaker B: Some pictures came. [01:29:04] Speaker A: I put my camera down here. The stands are in my way. [01:29:09] Speaker B: I didn't get a good look at the pictures. [01:29:11] Speaker A: Every that place looks beautiful. [01:29:12] Speaker B: I mean, they always do like the new. The only problem I have with new stadiums is they all pretty much look exactly the same. [01:29:21] Speaker A: I heard a take that the Raiders stadium sucks. [01:29:25] Speaker B: Wow. [01:29:25] Speaker C: Is that right? [01:29:26] Speaker A: Yeah, that it's like a glorified igloo. Like it looks nice from the outside and you go inside and there's nothing special about it. There's no enhanced fan experience. [01:29:35] Speaker B: Well, what do you want out of a fan experience? I really just kind of want to go and watch the game. [01:29:39] Speaker A: I don't think that that's today's fan anymore, though. You. For the amount of money you're spending to get a ticket, you want more than that. [01:29:46] Speaker C: I think sofi gets well, well regarded and I think that so far is it at. [01:29:51] Speaker A: Speaking of SoFi, Notre Dame's, you know, partnered sponsor for their jersey patch. SoFi, largest NCAA jersey brand deal. $19 million a year. [01:30:04] Speaker B: So. But don't the Bills are covered now though? Yeah, that's stupid. [01:30:09] Speaker A: No, field is not. Stands are. [01:30:12] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Okay. [01:30:13] Speaker A: What do you think about that now? Better not stupid. [01:30:18] Speaker B: Somewhat tolerable. Well, it's just because has made Bill like Highmark Stadium so iconic is the snow games. Buffalo is known for like those snow games. They're awesome. I've always loved watching. [01:30:34] Speaker A: But their field is heated. [01:30:35] Speaker B: Their field is heated, stupid. I hate it immediately. [01:30:41] Speaker A: All right, well, that's my Super Bowl. How about you guys? [01:30:43] Speaker C: Jerry Jones hosting the trophy at the end of the year. [01:30:46] Speaker B: Look forward. [01:30:47] Speaker A: He's gonna. He gave me a. You wanna know what gave me my reason to predict this? Well, one, it was last year. I picked it. But I'm gonna be right eventually. But I recently watched Jerry Jones act in the show. Landman. [01:31:00] Speaker C: Okay. [01:31:00] Speaker A: Did you know that he acted in it? [01:31:02] Speaker C: I heard about this. [01:31:04] Speaker A: It was really good. [01:31:06] Speaker B: What the show or he was. [01:31:08] Speaker A: He did a very. Like a very. [01:31:10] Speaker C: It's a. [01:31:11] Speaker A: He had a very good monologue in. It was phenomenal. It inspired me. Billy Bob Thornton. [01:31:16] Speaker C: Wow. [01:31:17] Speaker B: I forgot he was in that. [01:31:18] Speaker C: Yeah, well, Friday Night Lights, super bowl [01:31:21] Speaker B: pickian Rams over Chargers. I think we're going to have an all LA game in la. I am high on the Charger. [01:31:30] Speaker A: Both one seeds winning. Wow. [01:31:33] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:31:34] Speaker A: Okay. [01:31:34] Speaker B: Getting there. It's not that long ago that that happened, though. [01:31:38] Speaker C: Yeah. Well, this is because you believe that offense wins championships, obviously. [01:31:42] Speaker A: Speaking of offense winning championships. Go ahead. [01:31:45] Speaker B: Both of them have. Are going to have good defenses. [01:31:47] Speaker A: Right? [01:31:48] Speaker B: But they're both also. [01:31:49] Speaker A: Did you notice the pitch? We need to do something with like, I get a different noise when Kyle. When Ian gets a higher pitch. Like we do for your high horse thing. [01:31:58] Speaker C: My high horse thing? [01:32:00] Speaker A: When you get onto your soapbox. [01:32:01] Speaker C: Hardly. [01:32:02] Speaker B: Who's going to the Super Bowl? [01:32:03] Speaker C: Lions are going to beat the Broncos. [01:32:04] Speaker A: What? [01:32:05] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:32:07] Speaker A: Oh, it was supposed to be the explosion. Sorry, no. [01:32:11] Speaker B: Exploding Lions is not a out of this world take. Yeah, you just need to get hot. [01:32:16] Speaker A: I was talking about the Broncos. [01:32:18] Speaker C: They have a good roster. [01:32:20] Speaker B: They were one game away. [01:32:21] Speaker A: Let's hear about the halftime show. The more important reason about why we're going, guys, it's gonna be Bieber. The Biebs. [01:32:28] Speaker B: Oh, I almost want Bieber, but he's got like a weird medical thing lately. [01:32:33] Speaker A: He's about to announce going on tour soon. Some say he hasn't announced it because [01:32:40] Speaker B: he's going to be the halftime show at the announce that though like halfway [01:32:45] Speaker A: Andy just did Coachella. [01:32:47] Speaker C: Okay, I'm quiet. [01:32:49] Speaker B: Coachella's. [01:32:51] Speaker A: You're just not. [01:32:52] Speaker B: No, Coachella, you're old. No, I'm not old. Coachella's been around for a while. [01:32:56] Speaker A: Hold on, let me get the laughter. You're old. [01:33:00] Speaker B: No, Coachella. The has been going downhill a lot lately. For sure. It's turned into like a. Just a social media fest. [01:33:09] Speaker C: Right. Anyway, a lot of. [01:33:11] Speaker B: A lot of the artists have actually talked about it. They hate like they have. [01:33:14] Speaker A: Let's hear about today's music. Go ahead, Ian, who do you got being the halftime show? [01:33:18] Speaker B: The. The main headliner will be Sabrina Carpenter. [01:33:20] Speaker A: Oh, I thought you meant Backstreet Boys again. [01:33:22] Speaker C: Oh, I almost went Olivia. [01:33:24] Speaker B: Actually, I tried to actually pick someone I think they might actually go with and I was like, Olivia Rodrigo or Sabrina Carpenter. Both are hot, right? Now. [01:33:33] Speaker A: Yes. [01:33:34] Speaker C: Yeah, that's right. [01:33:36] Speaker B: But I picked Sabrina Carpenter because she has known ties with T. Swift. And I think we might see a little cameo in there. She might not do a full super bowl show, but I would not be shocked to see her. [01:33:51] Speaker A: Do you get invited, by the way, to the wedding? [01:33:53] Speaker B: Yeah, Stafford was there. He sent me an invite. But lucky we act. Funny story. [01:33:59] Speaker A: You and Claire. [01:34:00] Speaker B: No, we. So we had a former student of ours lives in New York. The. She is a nanny over there right now. And the couple she nannies from is like a block away from Madison Square Garden. [01:34:14] Speaker A: Wow. [01:34:14] Speaker B: And so she was filming everybody show up and was showing them and texting them to Claire. She was losing her mind. [01:34:22] Speaker A: I'm so proud. Tmz. Lcmz. Who's your halftime show gonna be? [01:34:30] Speaker C: Bts. [01:34:31] Speaker B: That's actually a pretty good one. I saw that. I thought that was pretty good. [01:34:34] Speaker A: You thought that you saw one side of the aisle get mad about Baboni? [01:34:40] Speaker C: Yep. [01:34:41] Speaker A: Who cares? This is gonna push him even more. [01:34:43] Speaker C: I want. Well, I want all of them to get kicked in the balls even harder this year. I want them to be. I want them to be throwing up on the floor. I want everyone who hated the Bad Bunny thing to get a punch in the gut so hard and be down gagging on the floor. [01:34:57] Speaker A: And you don't want those people to have their worst day ever and get 500 grand off. [01:35:00] Speaker C: I really want them to have their worst day ever, actually. It will be a blessing for them if the worst thing that happened to them is. [01:35:05] Speaker A: This is a full circle conversation. [01:35:07] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:35:08] Speaker B: Anyway, do you really think BTS is gonna. Would provide that same level of hatred, though? Probably not, because I don't. It's not the same, like, demographic. I mean, that's. [01:35:17] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, it's not. Yeah. [01:35:19] Speaker B: I don't actually think it would. Oh, yeah. Bad. Bad Bologna was more about like the Latin American. Everything that was going on at the time in. In the United States versus bts. I mean, it's K pop. K pop Demon Hunters is huge. I don't think they did the music for it, but. No, but they're huge in, so they're massive. [01:35:39] Speaker C: Some of these international artists are just like. [01:35:41] Speaker B: I would only. I mean, they would lose their mind because it'd be like, this is two Super Bowls in a row where they're not speaking English. [01:35:49] Speaker A: I'm telling you, it would be so much fun. [01:35:51] Speaker C: I know. [01:35:52] Speaker B: That's what I want. Guys or girls, I can't tell. [01:35:55] Speaker C: I hate everybody who says that. I, I. And I Don't use the word hate often, but you do. [01:36:00] Speaker B: Says what? [01:36:02] Speaker C: That kind of crap that you're kind of imitating. [01:36:04] Speaker B: To be. To be fair, I don't actually. [01:36:09] Speaker C: I know. I know. You're. You're doing it. Like, I could tell. You did this voice, so you're. This is not you. [01:36:13] Speaker B: I know. I felt your anger. [01:36:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:36:17] Speaker B: And I wanted to. I didn't want you to be mad at me. Be mad at them. [01:36:19] Speaker C: I could never be mad at you. [01:36:21] Speaker B: Okay, that's good. [01:36:24] Speaker A: Anything else we got for the listeners, guys? [01:36:26] Speaker B: Any more hot takes? [01:36:28] Speaker A: We love you. We still going to bat a steak next year. [01:36:30] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:36:31] Speaker B: Is it ever? I feel like it's tradition now. Yeah, we've to change it is. Doesn't make sense. [01:36:36] Speaker C: It's locked in. [01:36:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:36:38] Speaker A: Recently. I don't know. You definitely don't know about this, but Kyle sent me a video of this guy that whenever he's like, oh, whenever I go out with my friends, I order a chocolate milk just to see their reaction. Literally. Kyle, in a nutshell. Like, was that your inspiration? [01:36:55] Speaker C: No, I wasn't. I'm not doing a bit. I just wanted a chocolate milk. It sounded good. [01:36:59] Speaker A: Why'd you say Just turned German pronunciating. Did you laugh? Just turned out. [01:37:09] Speaker C: This is how we talk when I enunciate. Non. [01:37:14] Speaker A: Darn. I thought that was the end of it right there. Guys, I want to thank you for listening. [01:37:22] Speaker C: Where are you? And I'm so sorry, Coachella. [01:37:29] Speaker A: This is the part where we're not gonna let Marshall talk anymore. And at the end of the end of the episode, we're gonna just keep going on and on. That's gonna be our new bit, right, Kyle? Let's do some voices where we make [01:37:39] Speaker C: fun of each other. [01:37:40] Speaker A: I want you to know that that is not my impression. That is actually me. [01:37:44] Speaker B: I felt your hatred all the way over here.
