[00:01:03] Speaker B: Welcome to the Point after show with Kyle Mauer, Marshall heslaw and Ian DeWitt. This is the show where the guys attempt to pick the winners of the weekly NFL games along with some healthy debate about current topics. Let's go. [00:01:17] Speaker A: Hey, buddies, my pal. [00:01:19] Speaker C: We're coming to you live from San Francisco. [00:01:23] Speaker B: We're recording this game early. How was your guys Christmas? Was it good? These kids had fun. Kyle? [00:01:29] Speaker A: Kids? [00:01:29] Speaker C: It's pretty good. [00:01:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:30] Speaker B: How about you, Ian? [00:01:31] Speaker A: That's good. [00:01:32] Speaker B: New Lions gear? [00:01:33] Speaker C: I did. I got a new Lions like quarter zip. [00:01:37] Speaker A: Right? [00:01:37] Speaker B: Sick. [00:01:38] Speaker A: Like it? [00:01:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I do. It's very comfy. Very comfy. [00:01:41] Speaker B: I got a lot of Notre Dame gear. [00:01:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:01:43] Speaker B: Just in time to play Georgia on New Year's Day. 8:45. I'm gonna be so tired because. Good luck. Thank you. I appreciate you saying good luck because I cheered on your Michigan team all year last year for you guys. [00:01:54] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:01:55] Speaker C: Why not go? Why not go Notre Dame? [00:01:57] Speaker B: Why wouldn't I cheer for your teams? You know, why wouldn't I? [00:02:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:00] Speaker B: I wouldn't root against them. Let's hear for our question of the day, guys. Question of the day. What is the most ridiculous sports superstition that you have ever heard or even personally practice yourself? I thought of this for a couple reasons. One, I have to trim my beard tomorrow. But I've been shaving. And by shaving I mean trimming my beard and shaving my head on game day. For the last 14 weeks of Notre Dame season. Are you serious? [00:02:28] Speaker A: You're one of those people. [00:02:30] Speaker B: I also, as a freshman in college, never shaved my beard for the entire season that Notre Dame was undefeated and then lost to Alabama. I had to go clean shaven the next day to school. [00:02:42] Speaker A: Okay. [00:02:44] Speaker B: It's very bad. [00:02:45] Speaker C: I will, I mean, for myself, I will wear specific things. [00:02:50] Speaker A: Okay. [00:02:50] Speaker C: On game day. You have a game day gear most of the time. [00:02:53] Speaker B: I respect that. [00:02:55] Speaker A: Okay. [00:02:55] Speaker C: I've had a lot of success with my new black Hutchinson jersey. I've worn that a lot this year. [00:03:02] Speaker A: That's a good one. [00:03:02] Speaker C: They've won a lot. Yeah, they've won. They haven't lost. When I won that. I'm not wearing it currently, which might be why San Francisco just scored a touchdown. [00:03:10] Speaker B: Why are you not wearing it? [00:03:11] Speaker A: Wow. [00:03:12] Speaker C: It was dirty. [00:03:15] Speaker A: Just like you did your team. Just like you did your team. [00:03:17] Speaker C: I did my team dirty. [00:03:18] Speaker B: You're right. [00:03:19] Speaker A: You're right. [00:03:20] Speaker C: So, Kyle, money for you. [00:03:21] Speaker A: To me, they're all kind of equally silly. I, I, I don't observe them very much. I think the closest thing would be, I've had a tendency when to, to sometimes purposefully kind of not watch sometimes. There are some times where just like, I, I can't handle this. I, I'm not in a place where I can, I can go through it right now. It's too much. You know, it's like tough Michigan games. [00:03:46] Speaker B: Or that's how I am with, when I watch Kino sometimes. [00:03:50] Speaker A: I, I mean, I usually, like, that's the closest thing that I've got. [00:03:52] Speaker B: Do you scoff at this? I feel like, like, under your breath, you're like superstitions. [00:03:58] Speaker A: Yeah, a little bit. [00:04:00] Speaker B: Wow. You actually said yes to that. I didn't think you'd say yes. [00:04:03] Speaker A: Yeah, no, no shade at anybody. Like, you know, whatever, Whatever you want. Whatever gets you into it. [00:04:08] Speaker C: Superstitions really just exist to help people make themselves feel better. I think, like they're actively doing something. [00:04:14] Speaker A: I don't think you're dumb or anything like that, but I find they are all to me, even from basic ones to extravagant ones are all equally silly and point to me putting on game year gear to get in the spirit is like, that's, that's awesome. I'm into that. Yeah. For sure. [00:04:31] Speaker B: But you thought of my beard antics as what. [00:04:36] Speaker A: Eccentric. [00:04:38] Speaker B: Do you guys remember such a nice word by? [00:04:40] Speaker C: Do you remember the commercial? It was a Bud Light commercial and he was watching the football game and he has friends over and they're like, oh, can you go get me a bud? And he's like, oh, it's downstairs there. So. So he goes downstairs and every single time he goes downstairs, his team scores or does something great, right? So he just is at the door for the team and goes watching. He just goes downstairs. I think most fans can be so. [00:05:05] Speaker A: Many of us relatable. We can relate to that. [00:05:07] Speaker B: Of course. [00:05:08] Speaker A: Of course. [00:05:09] Speaker B: Absolutely. Yeah, I'm a thousand percent. And honestly, I hope our fans at the point after are a little superstitious too, because I hope we hear from them this week about how they're superstitious. So let's go to our mailbag. We have. It's been a couple weeks, so we're gonna kind of go a little bit all around. But there's one question I saw in here that just, it got my attention real quick. And it's because, guys, we got a new graphic this week. [00:05:35] Speaker C: Netflix. [00:05:36] Speaker B: Netflix. The graphic that showed for Netflix. Claire, or I'm sorry, Addison DeWitt writes in which network has the best graphic? Guys, I kind of like the Netflix, but there is something about, if we're talking about graphics as a whole, as the like sports network, that robot on Fox, legit, undefeated. I don't think he's ever lost. [00:05:59] Speaker C: I do tend to favor. He also, and I forgot to write this down, he also did include like theme songs, but I feel like we've talked about theme songs. [00:06:07] Speaker A: We've done it. [00:06:08] Speaker B: We've beaten theme songs into the ground. [00:06:10] Speaker C: Fox has definitely got a clean graphics. To me, it's easy. It's generally pretty compact. There's not too much. But I was watching some of the Saturday games and I really liked NFL Network's graphics. [00:06:26] Speaker B: Very nice. [00:06:27] Speaker C: They're very clean and minimalist. They don't put a lot down there. And I really just like when it's just tell me the teams, the score, timeouts, play clocks, all those different things. I don't need all the flashy things going on. I thought Netflix's was kind of cool looking, but also maybe a little gaudy. [00:06:47] Speaker B: What about you, Kyle? [00:06:49] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I, I always have fun with the. I think it's ESPN that does like the Monday Night Games and. [00:06:55] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:06:55] Speaker A: And they'll do those little, like those little sequences, those animated sequences that are very silly. You know, it's got, I don't know, that are like the knights from Game of Thrones or something like that. [00:07:04] Speaker B: Like the ones that are terribly animated. Yeah, yeah. [00:07:07] Speaker A: And you like those. I find them to be fun and entertaining and just Joe Bach or Al Michael is kind of like reading the script that, like the sun's light enlightens us on the story a little bit. How we got here and the important narratives for key players. [00:07:20] Speaker C: And I'm not a big fan. [00:07:22] Speaker A: They're just a little goofy. And it's inserted into the middle of. Of this. Of this broadcast. [00:07:28] Speaker B: You like an appetizer. Ian's a meat and potatoes. [00:07:31] Speaker A: If it were, it could easily be abused. But we get. It's just like so juxtaposed to the rest of what we're watching that it's just enough for me to kind of like tickle my funny bone a little bit. I enjoy it. [00:07:43] Speaker B: Oh, that's cute. [00:07:44] Speaker C: Just because I'm looking at Monday Night Football's graphics right now, I think I don't really like what they do to the logos for the teams. Half the time just feels a little like they're trying to make it neon, almost extra. [00:07:57] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:07:57] Speaker C: I'm not like. I don't like it. It's too much to me. [00:08:00] Speaker B: Right. [00:08:01] Speaker C: I can't visualize CBS or NBC off the top of my head. [00:08:05] Speaker B: Just think of Alabama football games. That's what I think of when I think of cbs. [00:08:08] Speaker C: Cbs I know is down there. I don't really care. [00:08:11] Speaker B: I don't like it because of one reason. They would not make their graphics small enough to fit on Red Zone. They had like a two year dispute where they're like, no. And fans just yelled at them for like two full years and they're like, all right, we'll fix it. Yeah, Second place for me. Easy. Not even a question. How's. Nobody said it for first place yet. I'm disappointed in you guys as fans. Cartoon Network. [00:08:34] Speaker C: Cartoon Network. [00:08:35] Speaker B: They have a great one when they slime the end zone. Their graphics. I'm sorry. [00:08:40] Speaker A: Wow. [00:08:41] Speaker B: Hold on. Let's start over, guys. Welcome to the point after. No, I do that too often. I'm losing the joke of that. I need to not do that every week. [00:08:48] Speaker A: It's still funny. [00:08:48] Speaker B: Yeah. Thank you. You made me feel better. We're going to skip around a little bit today too. We need to talk. We're going to have a little fantasy update right now. Well, we had a Baltadano bowl because Kyle was beaten in the semis. And who else was beaten in the semis? One of your work friends. [00:09:11] Speaker A: It must have been Rick. And I'm a guess. I'm guessing just. I haven't actually looked. Have you looked? Justin, I think was. [00:09:17] Speaker C: I can tell you. [00:09:18] Speaker B: But either way, the Balta Dinos were in the championship. [00:09:21] Speaker C: I know who won. [00:09:22] Speaker B: Tell us who won. Is Marco Marco literally your old friend? [00:09:26] Speaker A: The whole thing. [00:09:27] Speaker B: He won the fantasy league. Let's give it up for the one and and only. [00:09:32] Speaker C: He didn't just win by the way. He like destroyed. [00:09:38] Speaker B: That's for you, Marco. We're letting it play all the way out. Nobody let it go. [00:09:42] Speaker C: He is 185 to 118 blue. I actually think that might even be the highest scoring game of the year for anybody in our fantasy team. [00:09:52] Speaker A: Holy butts. [00:09:53] Speaker C: 185 is a lot. [00:09:55] Speaker B: That's a lot of points. [00:09:56] Speaker C: Who did he have? That guy? [00:09:57] Speaker A: He's always had Jamar Chase, who had a career year. [00:10:00] Speaker C: He had Daniels. [00:10:01] Speaker A: Oh, Jaden Daniels. [00:10:03] Speaker B: He was great. [00:10:03] Speaker C: He had Devonte Smith. He still has Sam Laporta playing right now. [00:10:08] Speaker B: He could get 200 points. [00:10:10] Speaker A: Holy crap. [00:10:11] Speaker B: What if he got 200? [00:10:13] Speaker C: That'd be nuts. That'd be nuts. [00:10:16] Speaker B: I think it'd be bananas. Marco, as a treat for winning the championship. And you can do this every week. I'm kidding. You don't need to win the championship to ask us questions. But we got two questions from our year old friend. Guys. Let's answer it. [00:10:30] Speaker C: Let's do it. [00:10:31] Speaker B: First one. Thoughts on why Patrick Mahomes has had a down year fantasy wise. Obviously his team did well still, but any thoughts there? [00:10:40] Speaker A: Patrick Mahomes is not a fantasy player. [00:10:42] Speaker C: He's not. He wasn't very. As someone who had him last year, he wasn't very good. [00:10:46] Speaker A: He's traditionally the most overdrafted person in fantasy because he's not a fantasy points leader. But he's a great player and so he tends to be drafted very early in a lot of fantasy leagues. I contend that that's usually a bad strategy. If I saw Patrick Mahomes available as a quarterback in maybe like the fourth or fifth round, I might take him. But he's not a first round guy in most seasons. You should not expect him to be an important contributor in terms of points. He's going to get no better points than a bunch of others than. He's very like a jerk off or a random other. [00:11:23] Speaker B: He's very quarterback. [00:11:24] Speaker C: He's very flashy on the field. But the amount of points those plays are are not actually a lot because he doesn't actually throw it deep very often. [00:11:35] Speaker A: Not any longer Last like. [00:11:37] Speaker C: Yeah. I mean true. The last couple years he really hasn't had to. He hasn't chuck it down the field. And they really do run the Ball. [00:11:43] Speaker A: To be a lot. To be fair. [00:11:46] Speaker B: To be fair. [00:11:47] Speaker A: He's had, he's had really strong seasons. He's. He's already had a couple 5,000 yard passing seasons. These are the seasons where he was breaking records. I mean this is like NFL history stuff and you know for fantasy those would have been pretty decent. Really strong. At the same time, you know, in terms of fantasy points, he's not, he's not going to be the champion. He's not most years going to be the top quarterback or even probably one of the top five quarterbacks in terms of fantasy points. That's not really how most fantasy. [00:12:21] Speaker C: If I had to pick a quarterback to be my fantasy quarterback, I'd either go Josh Allen or Joe Burrow. [00:12:30] Speaker B: He's right at number 10 on CBS's fantasy quarterback. [00:12:34] Speaker C: Which one? Mahomes. [00:12:36] Speaker B: CBS's Mahomes for being a fantasy quarterback going into this year. And this. It's based on the yearly non ppr. [00:12:44] Speaker A: Yeah. You usually want guys who a lot of dual threat quarterbacks are really productive. Jaden Daniels was a better choice to be starting for Marco. Like he put 100 plus rushing yards in the, in yesterday's game and wasn't it yesterday's game? [00:12:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:00] Speaker A: And, and you know Josh Allen runs into the end zone a lot and, and Jalen Hurts has been a good fantasy quarterback in the past getting all those one yard touchdowns. [00:13:09] Speaker B: I just think if you look at like his, if you just look at stats like he's top seven and in passing yards he's top five and passing touchdowns but you know they don't. It's. Yeah, this year is different because he's had the injuries and they've been getting hot over the last few weeks and he's been playing a lot better over the last few weeks because I think his team's really starting to come together. So. And I think that players like Isaiah Worthy are getting to do more than just. You're the tool guy. That is going to be our end around Jameson Williams. He's starting to run the routes. He's starting to be the guy downfield which is really, really scary for a team like the Chiefs. [00:13:50] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:51] Speaker B: But the great question, next question from Marco. The biggest rookie boom and bust this year. He says the biggest boom is Jaden Daniels and the bust is Marvin Harrison Jr. Maybe followed by cable. Caleb Williams. [00:14:05] Speaker C: Caleb Williams is not a bust. [00:14:06] Speaker A: Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr. And not busts. [00:14:09] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:09] Speaker A: That's not the definition of a bust. [00:14:11] Speaker C: Caleb was on a team surrounded by inept coaching and yet his numbers would suggest there was a lot of progress, especially down the street stretch for him. The. I wouldn't even say Jaden Daniels is my boom. I'd say Bowers is a good choice. [00:14:29] Speaker A: Malik Neighbors is a great choice. [00:14:31] Speaker C: I think Bowers just broke the tight end rookie record. [00:14:34] Speaker B: He could potentially break the all like tight end catches in a season. Not just rookie. Yeah. [00:14:41] Speaker C: Question how many games? This is kind of something that I've been thinking a little bit about about like rookie records and how we track records. [00:14:49] Speaker B: 16, 17 games. [00:14:50] Speaker C: Yeah, 16, 17 games. [00:14:52] Speaker B: Because Eric just running into that the. [00:14:53] Speaker C: Other day, Eric Dickerson did his. I didn't realize. I didn't realize he did it in 14 games. Yeah, I thought it was 16 when he did. [00:15:01] Speaker B: Crazy that it. [00:15:02] Speaker C: That makes that record to me untouchable. [00:15:04] Speaker B: But Saquon could. Could potentially have it in 50 less carries right now. [00:15:11] Speaker C: See, this is where it gets so hard. [00:15:13] Speaker A: So like is this scrimmage yards or rushing? [00:15:15] Speaker B: Rushing. [00:15:15] Speaker A: Oh, just rushing yards. [00:15:17] Speaker B: It's just rushing. Okay. Like he's 136 away, right? [00:15:20] Speaker C: 100. Well, he is now 101. [00:15:24] Speaker B: Oh, okay. I'll have to check that because I thought I saw it before today. [00:15:26] Speaker C: It was they, they. He hit it like halfway through the game. He broke like 2k and then they put him on ice because they had already blown him out and so he was on the bench. [00:15:38] Speaker B: I hope he plays. [00:15:40] Speaker A: I don't think there's a controversy on. [00:15:42] Speaker C: Whether he's going to or not. [00:15:44] Speaker A: This is a good question, Marco. I don't really see a lot in terms of what you could call a bust in the first round of this year's draft. My closest Xavier Worthy. I think his season is disappointing, actually. I think he's been useful, but disappointing for a first round draft pick going to be catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. I had high expectations, I think a lot of people did for the fastest guy in the. He didn't he break the record in, in the. The. What do you call it? The. The combine fastest run. [00:16:19] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:16:20] Speaker A: Like this guy was supposed to. If people are like the next. They found their next Tyree Kill and he's just like a kind of useful player that's a first round draft pick. You can get guys with that level of production in the third and fourth round. But he was picked in the first round and so I'm a little disappointed. I wouldn't call him a bust, but I'd say disappointed with his production. Disappointed with Marvin Harrison Jr. But a bust is Someone who, like, you're not gonna keep. [00:16:45] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:16:46] Speaker A: And they're gonna keep Marvin Harrison Jr. And they're gonna keep Caleb Williams. They're not busts. They just have some room to grow. [00:16:51] Speaker C: Yeah. And they weren't even bad rookie seasons for either of them. [00:16:55] Speaker A: They weren't. Some of these guys might have been overdrafted maybe. And maybe you could redo this. Maybe Malik Neighbors. Malik Neighbors goes before Marvin Harrison Jr. If you're redrafted, maybe. Maybe Malik Neighbors had a great season. [00:17:05] Speaker C: It's so hard to judge some of these guys off of one year. [00:17:09] Speaker A: It is. [00:17:10] Speaker C: It's too early to call anybody a bust. [00:17:13] Speaker B: And Brian Thomas might have went ahead of both of them because he has the most receiving yards of anybody and has been on Jacksonville. [00:17:19] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:17:19] Speaker A: This is crazy. [00:17:20] Speaker C: I had him on my fantasy team. [00:17:22] Speaker B: That's a great pickup for you. Honestly, I look at it and say it's hard to say someone's a bust based on one year. [00:17:30] Speaker A: Just like probably JJ McCarthy is the biggest bust. [00:17:33] Speaker B: I was just gonna. You're. You make me mad. Because I was gonna say to make Justin mad. And then. Okay, talk about really good if we hear him later. But the t. The person who I thought was the biggest upside this year, that's a different question. And that to me is when you have more unknown. Because a lot of these guys you like, you see a little bit of it. But do you see the potential? And I'm going to take the guy who. We've seen the smallest sample size of anybody on here. Michael, besides JJ. It's Michael Penix Jr. He looked phenomenal in a loss yesterday. He looked great. Like, don't get me wrong, he has to call. He has the rookie plays and things like that, but he has a zip. And maybe it's just because we've been watching Kirk cousins for 14 weeks throw really soft balls, but that's scary. Watching Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson and Michael Penix. [00:18:28] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:18:29] Speaker B: Like, I couldn't name you a defender on Atlanta to save my life, which might be why they lost. [00:18:35] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:36] Speaker B: But that's a fun team to watch. [00:18:39] Speaker A: I agree. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Like, look out. [00:18:40] Speaker A: I agree. I agree. That's. That's really exciting. [00:18:42] Speaker C: Who do they. They play. Who do they play? [00:18:46] Speaker B: I think it's the Saints that they play the last game. [00:18:48] Speaker C: The Bucks play the Saints. So they play the other. [00:18:51] Speaker A: The Panthers. [00:18:52] Speaker B: They play the Panthers. [00:18:53] Speaker A: Right. [00:18:54] Speaker C: So. Which have not. I mean, the Bucks made it. [00:18:56] Speaker B: They're not a hard. They're not an easy win. Everyone's saying that's a great, you know, a great team. You want to play at the end of the year, beat them down. No, Carolina is not going down without a fight. [00:19:07] Speaker C: Yeah. So Falcons, unfortunately may have just two. [00:19:11] Speaker B: Really good questions though from our eight year old listener. [00:19:13] Speaker A: I like. [00:19:13] Speaker B: Thank you, Marco. [00:19:14] Speaker A: Thank you, Marco. These are thoughtful. [00:19:17] Speaker B: Our next question comes from his great mother, a Hall of Fame question. Some might say she heard this while at the hall of Fame. Guys, have you been to the hall of Fame? First of all? [00:19:25] Speaker C: I have. [00:19:26] Speaker B: What'd you think of it? [00:19:26] Speaker A: Okay, Dallas. [00:19:27] Speaker B: They. [00:19:28] Speaker C: They have a very interesting. [00:19:29] Speaker B: Because I went when I was seven. [00:19:31] Speaker C: So they have like a huge. Like one of the first things they do is they have cards like on full display of all these different players, their mint conditions, all these different things. [00:19:43] Speaker D: Okay. [00:19:43] Speaker C: Which was just. Was really interesting because I had never been into collecting, like football. [00:19:49] Speaker B: You never collected cards? [00:19:50] Speaker C: Not football cards or baseball cards or anything like that. [00:19:53] Speaker B: Just Pokemon. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, wow, you did basketball then. [00:19:59] Speaker C: I didn't do any sports collectibles. [00:20:01] Speaker A: Why were you naming sports if I didn't do football? I didn't do baseball. [00:20:07] Speaker B: You could have just said, I don't do any sports, just Pokemon. [00:20:09] Speaker C: Whatever. You get the idea. I just like, I was. Because we were talking about football and baseball cards. Those are just the ones I met. [00:20:16] Speaker B: Sorry, Ian. [00:20:17] Speaker A: So I got a substantial basketball collection. Actually, you know, I've been told that they're really making a comeback. Trading cards, the sports trading cards. [00:20:25] Speaker C: A lot. Yeah, I mean, I've seen several, but not like NFTs. They had like all of those, which I thought was interesting. [00:20:30] Speaker D: Okay. [00:20:31] Speaker C: They have basically like a timeline which was kind of cool to walk through of like all the different things. The coolest room by far was the actual hall of Fame room with all the busts. Very cool to see all of them there. [00:20:46] Speaker B: Was it busing? [00:20:47] Speaker C: It was busting. They had a couple where you could put your phone up to the bust and it would like virtually come alive as like a pre recording. And then they would like say something which I thought was kind of fun. [00:21:03] Speaker B: What about the leg? Where you can stand like in the leg, like the shape of a leg of like. [00:21:08] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:21:09] Speaker B: Jerome Bettis. And it's like Marco's body. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:21:12] Speaker C: They were like. Those were kinds of things. The funniest one is they had a whole section of dynasties. It was hilarious because the Lions and the Browns were on that wall because before the super bowl era, they were the two most dominant teams in the NFL championship era. [00:21:30] Speaker A: Oh, goodness. Wow. [00:21:31] Speaker C: So it was Just so funny to see, like, the Lions had a whole, like, wall devoted to their championship runs when they had, like, Bobby Lane and it was like, right. What an interesting thing to see. [00:21:42] Speaker B: And here we are based on context. [00:21:44] Speaker C: Yeah. I mean, the Niners are about to score again. [00:21:46] Speaker B: The hall of Fame question from Katie says, do you think fantasy football has changed the way people do fandom? This is actually mentioned in a. In a presentation at the hall of Fame that we saw. But the presenter did mention that fantasy has kind of opened a fandom across just being a fan of just one team. [00:22:08] Speaker A: I think that's the obvious case. That's the. The most classic argument, the supporting fantasy is that it kind of broadens your interests. Where we are. We are trained and brought up to choose a team, support that team, care about that team. The rest of the league can go F itself, you know, and fantasy brings a whole new layer to every ordinary fan. [00:22:37] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:22:38] Speaker A: And suddenly there's a reason to care about what happens in the other games where we didn't have that before fantasy. I mean, some. Some of us did, but your average fan had nothing, no reason. And. And now you kind of do. And I think it's fraught with some issues. And I don't know that all of that is, like, really productive. It's kind of debatable. But inarguably, you've got a huge population of the fan base suddenly tuning in, learning about players they wouldn't have otherwise had an interest in and taking an interest in other games they would. Another. No other reason to watch. [00:23:15] Speaker B: How about because I. I kind of come from on our pod. I'm the person who doesn't have a team. I'm kind of like the free agent. The only way that I would follow the NFL back in the day is who was the good Notre Dame player that played in the NFL. [00:23:30] Speaker A: Right. [00:23:31] Speaker B: And that was very rare. We didn't have a lot of those. Would be a wide receiver. Now it'd be an offensive lineman. Then I'm following following Joe Alt in the Chargers. [00:23:38] Speaker A: Right. [00:23:38] Speaker B: Like, that's really. You know how much I love Zach Martin on the Cowboys? So much that I would watch the Cowboys and Jalen Smith was on the Cowboys. Like, that's what I would do, so to say, like, people didn't follow a lot of teams. I come from the college fan perspective where, like, that's the only way I followed it. And then I would buy. I have a Jalen Smith jersey for the Cowboys at my house that's currently. [00:23:59] Speaker A: Wow. [00:24:00] Speaker B: Like, so the part that I don't like about fantasy is that it's ruined a lot of like the fan player relationships because players dislike a lot of fans because of death threats. Screw you. Because you didn't get me 16 points and you only got me 15 points when it came to my fantasy team. [00:24:21] Speaker A: Right. [00:24:21] Speaker B: It's. And it's not like 20 years ago where this happens and you don't have instant access to these people. You got their page, you could find their wife's page and you're commenting on all their stuff and you have access. So it's kind of a scary place in that regard. And that's why I don't do fantasy because it ruins my Sundays and I'd like to like some of these players a little bit more. [00:24:45] Speaker A: But you do the gambling, which is even worse. [00:24:47] Speaker B: You're right. And that's why we have to get to our next question because our next question hits something that I'm just going to read it for us. Katie, thank you for the question. [00:24:56] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:24:56] Speaker B: Eric G. Nunzio writes in I Got My Christmas Wish, Aaron Rodgers, probably his playing ability has finally caught up to his awful character and personality, which I love. Since I got my wish, I will ask each of you if you could choose a player to fall from grace because of your dislike for them, who would it be? No Tom Brady? Marshall, Current players only. And get petty when explaining your answer. So you just said I do the gambling. And yes, I'm kind of talking out of both sides of my mouth right now because I'm going to be a little vulnerable with you here. Guys. You know how we gambled and had a shared notes app together. Kyle? Yeah. On Ian's wedding, we made all these bets about Ian's wedding. Oh, gosh. [00:25:44] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:45] Speaker B: G and I just recent over the years we've been talking about this person is dead to me. That's just the text that we have. Like every other Sunday a bet screws over. This person's dead to me. We have now made a list. On Christmas, Noah Gray was dead to me. I put Brian Kelly because he's just all I put in forever as the date for him. Coach, head coach of the LSU Tigers. And recently his girlfriend added New Orleans Saints dead to her. Wow. Mine are all gambling related so it's hard for me to pick an individual. Do you guys have one off the top of your list of like off the top of your head that somebody that you'd say, yep. Maybe hate isn't the word. I won't make you say hate, but that you dislike I am not. [00:26:36] Speaker C: Typically players I, I don't like are the ones that kind of get put up on a pedestal very easily because they're very good. And so I, I, there's a lot of players you could do this with that. This holds true for a lot. This is not like a one off. But this particular player comes to my mind because, yeah, he's just a generational talent in the fact that Tyree Kill. If I had to pick somebody that was kind of the epitome of that right now, he would be it. Because his off the field personality and character is definitely overlooked because of how good he is and because of his, like, you know, people love players that are charismatic on the field. They love putting up the two fingers. [00:27:36] Speaker B: Personality. [00:27:36] Speaker C: We love personality. [00:27:37] Speaker B: Doing the backflip going into the end zone. [00:27:40] Speaker C: It's fun to watch. He's good tv. And so people are willing to ignore, just kind of be fine with that. And then at the and hate cells. [00:27:51] Speaker B: Like people hate him. [00:27:52] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:27:53] Speaker B: They love to watch people you hate. I mean, that's why people watch the Cowboys. [00:27:56] Speaker C: But then on top of that, he gets a free pass almost. But then you got other guys and doesn't deserve a free pass. I want to just be very clear that Deshaun Watson doesn't deserve a pass, but that's like a very clear example of someone who is equally just as awful off the field, but yet he gets vilified. Rightfully so. But then Tyreek doesn't. [00:28:19] Speaker B: You want to know why you're saying you don't like that? It's not common across the board kind of thing. [00:28:23] Speaker C: I just don't like that we are as an NFL mask those issues that would lose you a job in any other field just because they're really good. [00:28:36] Speaker B: I just think that. Yeah, yeah. Honestly. But I think that that happens in more than just the NFL. I think it happens more than just sports. I think that's a societal thing. Is there anybody on your list? Kyle. [00:28:48] Speaker A: You know, because you're not. Honestly, this is a hard one. This is a hard one for me because I'm the opposite. [00:28:54] Speaker B: I'm going to be stunned if you have one. [00:28:56] Speaker A: I hate to hate. I hate to hate. I would never. I don't use that about players. I will say it about the owners. Unequivocally, openly, openly say it. I am here to trash the owners. I think they're scum and I don't like them. [00:29:12] Speaker B: Boom. [00:29:13] Speaker A: Hot take on the record. You can quote me on that. The NFL ownership are terrible people. Wow. Bad human beings, and they suck. [00:29:23] Speaker C: We ever get famous, we're in trouble. [00:29:25] Speaker A: Some of the. Some of. No, I don't care. I'm on record, and I'm not taking it back. There are other people who are higher up in the food chain. I think a lot of issue. Maybe there's, like, coaches that I have little respect for. You know, I feel like Sean Payton a little bit is like, ah, he's kind of smug, blah, blah, blah. Um, and some of those other guys. But in terms of players, it's kind of hard. I really was, like, racking my brain on this. Basically, all my prep for this episode was just trying to think of a player that I have beef with, and it's such a struggle. I. I'll put Nick Bosa up there. [00:30:03] Speaker B: Okay. [00:30:04] Speaker C: Okay. [00:30:04] Speaker B: I like that. Do you know they're one in six since you put that hat on after the game? [00:30:09] Speaker A: Yeah. What a. What a turd. Nick Bosa. [00:30:12] Speaker C: Harrison Buckner. [00:30:14] Speaker B: Oh, Harrison. [00:30:15] Speaker C: That would be a good one. [00:30:16] Speaker B: He could stick in the kitchen. [00:30:18] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I'll take. I'll take that. And. And I'm on record, I guess Niners players tend to rub me a little bit wrong. [00:30:26] Speaker C: Like, I. Packers fandom right there. [00:30:29] Speaker A: Like, you're a Packer fan, man. Those Niners, like, I can never. Like, I can. I can never root for them. It's. And it's funny that commit tried. I've tried to be like, oh, good for them. And I'm just. I'm not into. I can't do it. I can' to it. George Kidd. Whatever. Brock Purdy. Whoopty Do. Shanahan. Great. Nick's go. Get out of here. Nick Bosa. [00:30:50] Speaker B: That's good. Can I tell you my answer? [00:30:52] Speaker A: Joe Burrow's overrated. I'm on record saying that everybody had. [00:30:56] Speaker B: To get out there to remind the people. [00:30:58] Speaker A: Everybody gets on their knees for Joe Burrow. And it. It actually irritates me. So I. I don't dislike him, but I think, like, he just gets. [00:31:06] Speaker B: It's been worshiped way cooler than you are. [00:31:09] Speaker A: Oh, he's so cool. [00:31:10] Speaker C: Joe Cool. [00:31:11] Speaker A: Blah, blah, blah. Oh, we worship him. Let's all bend over for Joe Burrow. I'm a little tired of it. All right, so. All right, I'll give you that. Does that satisfy the question? [00:31:22] Speaker B: It's a great answer. I'm so happy. [00:31:24] Speaker C: Aaron Rodgers would have been my number one. [00:31:26] Speaker A: He'd be everybody's number one. [00:31:28] Speaker C: The only reason I didn't. He was already. He was already. [00:31:31] Speaker B: It's part of the question almost. [00:31:32] Speaker C: Yeah, I. I do want to watch the documentary on Netflix about him. [00:31:37] Speaker B: Nope, I'm good. [00:31:38] Speaker C: I think I'm good. Kind of curious. [00:31:40] Speaker B: I'm back. I'm giving you an answer that no one. I don't think a lot of people say, like, when you think of the word hate, hate is strong. For what I'm going to describe to you. He just personally bothers me, and his game bothers me, and his public Persona really bothers me, and the rumors I've heard about him on the field and in the locker room really bother me. Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson bothers me a lot. [00:32:16] Speaker A: Okay. He's a character. [00:32:18] Speaker B: One of the re. I'll list you some of the reasons I don't like him. I think the rumors that he called an audible and wanted the play for him to be throwing the ball instead of Marshawn getting the touchdown at the end because he wanted the super bowl mvp, which has been said by multiple players that were in that huddle. And defenders. I think that drives me, Bonko, as somebody who on the outside has this big team, team, team Persona. Like, oh, yeah, Justin Fields, go in there and win for our team. If you're better at running, you run and you get for our team. But if it comes down to it, I really want the game winning pass. So that. Very fake. Very fake. And I just think he first and also Broncos country, let's ride. It was said so many times. It just. How can you not dislike that? And I just think that he tries too hard to be this public person who's so perfect. Let your hair down. [00:33:20] Speaker A: Yeah, okay. [00:33:21] Speaker B: Like, I love that. Future. [00:33:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:33:25] Speaker B: Who is his. Who is Russell Wilson's wife's ex boyfriend, rapper Future. [00:33:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:33:32] Speaker B: Just hates on Russell Wilson publicly. When he has a son with him. He's like, you know what? [00:33:39] Speaker A: You. [00:33:39] Speaker B: You come over here, we're wearing like a. A Chiefs. I'm buying you a Chiefs jersey. Like, I love that. I think I'm like, oh, my gosh. I don't. I don't like you that much as a rapper, but I might buy your album and stream it just for that reason. [00:33:51] Speaker A: It definitely comes across as someone who is trying to craft an image. [00:33:56] Speaker B: I just find that so fake. That is so easy in the NFL, it's. You have such a platform. Just be yourself in a world that quarterbacks, nobody acts like an actual human being. And you try to be the image of images. It just turns me off as somebody who's really rooting for authenticity. He does not give me much of it at all. [00:34:16] Speaker C: Something to be said with all of these people, by the way, where you can tell just based on stories that come out, whether people are legit or not. I think I'm going to use Sirianni as an example because I think Sirianni, a lot of people view him as just kind of a douche. [00:34:43] Speaker B: Totally. [00:34:44] Speaker C: For lack of a better word. But I have yet to hear a single bad thing about him out of that locker room and from former players, which leads me to believe that while he may act like one, they clearly respect him as a person. And he and I have seen mic'd ups of him interacting with his players. It's generally pretty positive. And so that alone kind of tells you a lot about their relationship. [00:35:11] Speaker B: Also, winning cures everything. [00:35:13] Speaker C: True. Compared to when Matt Patricia was going on, you heard nothing. And then when people were finally being let go or traded off, nothing but bad. Nothing but bad. [00:35:28] Speaker A: Nothing but bad. [00:35:29] Speaker C: And so it was very clear that he had crafted a very awful culture, which after now, everything that we have, we know that to be true. [00:35:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:40] Speaker B: Claire DeWitt writes in G. Great question, by the way. Thank you for sending that into us. And thank you to all of our listeners who just send in stuff. [00:35:47] Speaker A: You guys are all the best. G. You're awesome. G is awesome. [00:35:51] Speaker B: Do we hear anything from the commission this week? [00:35:53] Speaker A: He's watching the game right now. I've been texting. [00:35:55] Speaker B: That's why I was wondering, because you told me he's been sending you a lot of takes about just other teams. He did through the week. [00:36:00] Speaker A: Text me to say that. The Broncos. Was it Broncos Chargers or Broncos? Bengals on Saturday. [00:36:08] Speaker B: Broncos and Bengals. That game. That was an amazing game. [00:36:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Somebody's having a seizure here in the pod studio. [00:36:16] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. It is so good that you were just talking about Adam Silver because he is going to be infuriated by what just happened. [00:36:26] Speaker A: What happened? Tell us. [00:36:28] Speaker C: The whole series was they were one in 2020. They had a flag. Put it back, Jose. [00:36:33] Speaker A: Who's that? [00:36:34] Speaker C: Lions. [00:36:34] Speaker A: Okay. [00:36:35] Speaker C: They got pushed back to 1 in 20. First, first and 20. And then they got sacked. It was second in 24. It was just awful. [00:36:44] Speaker B: Just awful. [00:36:45] Speaker C: They gained back about half of it. So it's third and 12. Hook and ladder for a touchdown. [00:36:51] Speaker B: Wow. Nice emptying the clip. [00:36:56] Speaker C: So slick. [00:36:57] Speaker B: All right, what's the score right now? [00:36:58] Speaker A: We didn't talk about 12 to 14. [00:37:00] Speaker B: Okay. [00:37:01] Speaker C: They missed the. Their first touchdown, their first extra point. Got. [00:37:04] Speaker B: Are they going for two right now? [00:37:05] Speaker C: No, they just went. Took fickle Source. [00:37:07] Speaker B: Boring. [00:37:08] Speaker C: A little boring, but too early for them to get. [00:37:11] Speaker A: The question going into this game was, since this game doesn't have any bearing on playoff seating, would the Lions play all their starters? [00:37:17] Speaker C: They currently are. [00:37:17] Speaker A: They currently are, yeah. And they're currently down by a point. It's a competitive game. Both of these teams in terms of playoffs have nothing to play for. Niners are eliminated and the. The Lions will be either the first seed or the fifth seed. [00:37:31] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. Yeah, we can. We'll talk about that game later, obviously. I'm assuming we're going to talk about that game later because it's like the. [00:37:38] Speaker A: Must watch Vikings Lions next week is really the super bowl of the regular season. It's like, it's a huge, ultimate game. [00:37:45] Speaker C: Huge game. [00:37:46] Speaker A: Yes. [00:37:46] Speaker C: The. The NFL had to be salivating at that possibility, which was clear with some of the penalties the Vikings got to help them win. [00:37:53] Speaker A: It is crazy. I mean, how. How long ago did the Chiefs clinch the. The number one seed in the other conference? So like it goes to Week 18 for the NFC to determine the number one seed and their division rivals. [00:38:03] Speaker B: I think the Bills were the first team to clinch their division and they clinched it like six weeks ago. [00:38:09] Speaker C: So what's crazy about is a joke. [00:38:12] Speaker B: And do you know that the Chiefs, they're going to get the one seed and they won't play their players. They could be out for 25 days. [00:38:19] Speaker A: It's amazing. All their players that long. [00:38:21] Speaker C: That's kind of. [00:38:22] Speaker A: Wow. They're gonna three beat you guys. Let's. I mean, so they're gonna. [00:38:26] Speaker C: The one thing about that Lions Vikings game though, it's legitimately historic because it's the first time two teams will play each other in the regular season, both with 13 or more wins. [00:38:40] Speaker A: That has never happened. [00:38:42] Speaker C: Never happened in the NFL. [00:38:44] Speaker A: Unbelievable. [00:38:44] Speaker C: Which I guess by the time you get to that point, a lot of the times you're playing in divisional games. So there's already been a lot of feasting going on there. And so some teams are already lower on the bucket list. [00:38:56] Speaker A: There's really only ever several teams in the NFL who finished their season with above Lions. [00:39:01] Speaker C: The NFC north this year, if the Lions win against the Niners, which obviously by the time you're hearing this, you're going to know the answer to that. If the Lions beat the Niners, historically this division, this season has the highest winning percentage ever. [00:39:18] Speaker A: Holy cow. Even. Even without. Even if all four of them, I mean, they couldn't all four lose. But even if, let's see. [00:39:26] Speaker C: It's because you're guaranteed two NFC north teams are going to win next week. [00:39:32] Speaker A: Right. [00:39:32] Speaker C: It doesn't even matter who. You just know two of them are going to have to win. [00:39:36] Speaker A: Correct. [00:39:36] Speaker C: Assuming a tie doesn't happen, obviously. But then if the win tonight happens. [00:39:41] Speaker B: It'S going to be interesting. I want to hold on to your take on that until we get to our question that has to be answered at the end that's going to be about our biggest game. I have one question from Claire, and then we have a little special guest here today. Claire DeWitt writes in who has the lowest bar for the worst franchise right now? And I just want you to quick think. We've talked about owners teams. We know pick it. [00:40:09] Speaker A: New York Giants. [00:40:10] Speaker B: I think it's Browns, it's Jets. [00:40:13] Speaker A: It's the. [00:40:13] Speaker B: Wow. I like that. That we're all. Therefore, we all said, you know. [00:40:16] Speaker C: I know, but it's the Jets. [00:40:18] Speaker B: We don't need to. We need to focus on good teams. So we're just going to give that. Claire, don't be offended, but we're just going to give that the answer. And if we have time later, we're going to, you know, move on from there. But we have a listener who is into our pod today. Listener, can you hear us? Listener? Hello? [00:40:38] Speaker A: Who's on the phone? [00:40:41] Speaker B: Listener, please speak your name. Let's go. Justin Matson. Justin Matson is on the phone. Justin, I know that you're on your AirPods right now. Can you do me a favor for the audio purposes? Will you put your phone on speaker? Are you able to do that? All right, tell me when you're on speaker. And listeners, bear with us. We're trying to get some good audio quality. Oh, I can already tell it. I can already tell it's getting better. [00:41:07] Speaker A: That's sharp. [00:41:09] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. It's like you're speaking right into our soul. Justin, normally you write in. Today you sent me a just. I would call it a Jan Yemen thesis for those Spring Arbor listeners, and I wanted you to read it yourself. So what we're gonna do, we're gonna try really hard to refrain ourselves from commenting, and we're gonna let you read to the people. Justin, the four hours. [00:41:35] Speaker D: I don't like the way that you preface that with a Jan Yeaman. [00:41:38] Speaker B: Oh, I'm sorry. [00:41:39] Speaker D: I don't know that she would. I don't know if she would. Did you cite your sources? No. [00:41:45] Speaker B: Okay, well, that definitely did not. Not a thesis. How about instead, it's more like a little fun Narrative writing that you had for a high school paper. Does that sound better? [00:41:56] Speaker D: That works for me. [00:41:57] Speaker B: Okay, perfect. Okay, the bar has been set. A little lower. Justin, the floor is yours. [00:42:02] Speaker D: Yeah. I just wanted to come onto the pod tonight and give Kevin O'Connell his flowers. I believe that he deserves a little bit more recognition. I'm going to call him King Moon Racer because I think that he is the leader of the Misfit toys. He is the only head coach to have a winning record. Starting Kirk Daniel Cousins at quarterback. And keep in mind, he didn't go like 12 and 11. He went 17 and 8 with Kirk Cousins as a starting quarterback. No other. No other head coach has surpassed the.500 mark. Starting Kirk. Let me take you back to last year when they traded midseason for Mr. Joshua Dobbs, the pastronaut. He was 2 and 2 under Kevin O'Connell. And in his other six starts he only has one win, aside from being under Kevin O'Connell's tutelage. And I don't know, Koc has been in Minnesota for three years and has won 13 games twice. That's never been done in the franchise's history. And he has a chance to go and get a 15th win. And 15 wins has only been eclipsed once for the franchise. And that was done by Denny. If you want to crown them, then crown their ass Green. Rest in peace, Denny. [00:43:35] Speaker A: Wow. [00:43:35] Speaker D: But I don't know. I want to. I think back to April when the Vikings drafted who Men who don't know ball like to call the handoff merchant J.J. mcCarthy. And I thought that he looked awesome in his lone preseason appearance. [00:43:49] Speaker B: I feel terrible. [00:43:50] Speaker D: And I think that if JJ really were a handoff merchant in college, KOC had him absolutely ripping that thing in the preseason. He was throwing it all over the yard. I thought he looked phenomenal. But then JJ goes down and then we got Sam down in the dumps. Darnold who gets handed the QB1 position and the media looked at the Vikings like cold fries and expected them to win no more than five or six games. And then Koc has got him looking like a top 10 guy, maybe even a top five guy. I don't know. Wow. I just look back at the Kirk Cousins couple seasons under Kevin O'Connell and he made Kirk Daniel Cousins a 13 win quarterback and Sam Darnold a 14, perhaps 15 win quarterback who has a shot to claim the number one seed in the nfc. I won't act like the Panthers or the jets had stocked cupboards for Sam Darnold, but it Looks like he's really put it together under Kevin O'Connell. He is third in passing yards and fourth in passing touchdowns this year. And I think that all of the credit has to go to the Vikings head coach. As Texan Marshall earlier. Move over Bruce Arians. I think there might be a new QB whisperer in town. [00:45:19] Speaker B: Justin. Justin, my friend, this is for you. Can you hear the applause? I hope you can hear it. Let's go. Justin, thank you for calling in. [00:45:30] Speaker C: Pretty solid. [00:45:30] Speaker A: This is a treat to be talking to you. Justin. Let me just say I'm so delighted to have your voice on this podcast. [00:45:37] Speaker D: Well, I do appreciate that. One thing I did want to say is this my second time on the point after and the first time you guys asked me who my favorite Vikings quarterback in the franchise was. And you guys really talked about Teddy Bridgewater. And I'll. I'll bring this back because we talked about. You guys talked about this last week. I. I don't get the whole Teddy love. [00:46:01] Speaker B: Really. [00:46:02] Speaker A: Oh, interesting. He peaked at the Vikings. [00:46:06] Speaker B: Really. [00:46:06] Speaker D: He was my quarterback for two years. Right. And I just felt like he turned the ball over as often as he did score. So. [00:46:15] Speaker A: Okay. [00:46:16] Speaker D: To me, I did not reap the. The benefits of. What was he, like five? And, oh, when Drew Brees got hurt for New Orleans, I did not. I did not get that in Minnesota. [00:46:27] Speaker B: You think Kevin O'Connell could fix him? [00:46:29] Speaker D: Oh, man, Kevin O'Connell could put me in the game in a preseason game and coach me to a first down. [00:46:36] Speaker C: I guarantee that. Maybe. Gosh, maybe a win. [00:46:39] Speaker A: Teddy just got signed by the Lions, as a matter of fact. [00:46:41] Speaker C: Yeah, he's back with the Lions. [00:46:42] Speaker A: He is. Interesting. [00:46:44] Speaker B: Maybe he's giving some secrets up for next week. [00:46:47] Speaker A: Can you remind us who your. Who your pick was back then? [00:46:52] Speaker D: Oh, my favorite Viking of all time was. Was Dante. [00:46:54] Speaker A: Oh, of course. I loved him. Throw into peak Randy Moss as well. Of course. [00:47:00] Speaker D: And he played for the Lions for. [00:47:01] Speaker C: A hot second for a little bit there. [00:47:03] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:47:05] Speaker D: Well, I'll be at the game Sunday night. [00:47:07] Speaker B: Oh, what? Wow. Live coverage for the point after serious. [00:47:15] Speaker C: You might watch what we're watching currently with San Fran where the lines defense is absolutely crumbling. I predict that game's going to be a shootout. [00:47:22] Speaker B: Shocking. Yeah. I mean, the Lions are going to give up a lot of points and they're going to score a lot. [00:47:26] Speaker A: Really going out on a limb here. [00:47:27] Speaker C: Thank you. Thank you. [00:47:29] Speaker D: I'm hoping the Lions hang on to win this game tonight because I don't want to see an angry lions team, week 18. I just want to see a normal. [00:47:36] Speaker B: Lion right there, Justin. [00:47:37] Speaker C: They do have a record of not going back to back losses with D.C. so if they did lose this game. [00:47:43] Speaker A: I'm so excited about this. [00:47:44] Speaker C: And apparently mcdc is undefeated on Sunday Night Football. [00:47:49] Speaker B: Wow. [00:47:50] Speaker A: Holy cow. [00:47:51] Speaker B: What do you got to say to that, Justin? [00:47:53] Speaker D: I don't. I don't. I'm a Vikings fan. I don't talk trash. [00:47:56] Speaker A: Oh, I know. [00:47:58] Speaker C: I wasn't talking any trash. I was just being fast. [00:48:02] Speaker A: Here we go. I spent a lot of time this weekend thinking about Vikings. [00:48:05] Speaker D: It is. It has done nothing but harm me in my 30, almost 32 years of life. [00:48:10] Speaker A: That's incredible. I was intending to show up to this pod and be like, I want to shout out to Justin, let's talk. Talk Vikings. Let's talk about. And then I was so delighted to find out that you're going to be joining us on this program so we can really get into what. What I think is a unique franchise in the NFL. I think they have a lot of endearing qualities. They have a strong. They have the. They're the best team this league has ever had that, that don't have a Lombardi. And they have such a strong record of success throughout the regular season. Year after year. You get to see more often than not a team that's well put together, a team that's getting wins, a team that's trying out good players. You have so many collapses in the playoffs. Exactly. Exactly. A lot of other fan bases would. Would trade what they have for what you've had. [00:48:54] Speaker D: Oh, certainly. Yeah. I wouldn't trade spots with, you know, Dallas, but. [00:49:03] Speaker B: I still love the Dallas strays we've been giving today. [00:49:06] Speaker C: I really. [00:49:06] Speaker A: They can take it. [00:49:07] Speaker C: I really liked the. That the post game locker room with KOC just. [00:49:14] Speaker B: Justin and I were talking about that. [00:49:15] Speaker C: Last night, stood off to the side and was just. You could just see he was happy for Sam. [00:49:21] Speaker B: Do you think he did that because the camera was right there. [00:49:23] Speaker C: I don't think so. [00:49:26] Speaker B: I really don't. [00:49:27] Speaker C: He just seems like a genuine guy and I was just. He's impressive. I think he is coach of the year, if I'm being honest. [00:49:36] Speaker A: When you hit on a coach like that, that's a big deal. I mean, because Mike Zimmer wasn't a disaster, but moving on from him for like a more unknown guy and discover like, it's like hitting on a draft pick and discovering you've got your guy, finding out that you're like the first time to Give this guy an opportunity to be a head coach and he's a winner. He's a keeper. [00:49:55] Speaker B: For Justin, who's the fan listening to Go. He and I are going to say for two different reasons. Justin probably has a real reason, but I think Zimmer is the only coach that's ever had a red face at every game that he's been in indoor. Oh, yeah, he has the. You think he came out of the womb with a red face? Justin? [00:50:13] Speaker D: I think he's just the embodiment of Red Manchu. [00:50:16] Speaker B: Thank you, thank you, thank you. [00:50:19] Speaker A: He's always looked like probably the NFL personality that I would least like to hang out with. [00:50:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:50:24] Speaker A: It just. [00:50:25] Speaker B: No, he definitely was smoking cigarettes at a young age. [00:50:28] Speaker D: Yeah. I don't know. I think he was there for eight years, I want to say. [00:50:31] Speaker B: And they. [00:50:32] Speaker D: And they won. They won two playoff games. [00:50:38] Speaker A: Right? [00:50:38] Speaker D: I don't know. I don't. I don't look back at those Zimmer years very fondly. [00:50:42] Speaker A: He ran. [00:50:42] Speaker D: I think he ran Adrian Peterson out of Minnesota. [00:50:45] Speaker C: He was. Was Zimmer the one with the Minneapolis Miracle? Yeah, he was there for that. Yeah. Okay. That's still by far one of my favorite playoff moments. Loved watching that. That was such a cool. And mostly that year, the Vikings were such a. Just an easy team to root for because of Case Keenum just popping off. [00:51:08] Speaker A: Wow. [00:51:09] Speaker B: The graphic of. Was it Case Keenum, Blake Bortles, Tom Brady, and who was the fourth one that was in, like, the final four teams that were in the Nick. Holes in Nick Foles in the final four teams. It's a great graphic of like, what a year, what a world we lived in. Justin, you're by far one of my. As somebody who is not a fan of any personal team, I find myself rooting for your happiness behind all of the incestuous Lions fandom that I deal with in here and root for sometimes. [00:51:39] Speaker C: Wow. [00:51:40] Speaker B: But, Justin, I'm gonna give you a little preview because I was pressured to do something earlier right now because I was gonna make somebody mad. I'm gonna do something. I'm gonna pressure. Get pressured because it's going to make someone happy. [00:51:52] Speaker A: Okay. [00:51:53] Speaker B: I'm giving Justin my upset and lock of the week to Minnesota. Don't do that. You don't want me to do it. You don't want it. I won't do it to you. I won't do it to you, though. I was going to do it. [00:52:04] Speaker D: This feels like bad juju. [00:52:06] Speaker C: It's not a game. [00:52:06] Speaker B: Never mind. How about we start over Guys. [00:52:13] Speaker C: You got. Talking about how you do that. [00:52:15] Speaker D: Put it on the pad. A Josh Allen hater. Put it on the. [00:52:18] Speaker B: Let's go. [00:52:19] Speaker C: I was just feeling. Because I noticed Marshall locked in Detroit this week and I. I hate. I hate that I never lock in. I don't really like to lock in or upset my team. I just. I can't do it. It is bad juju. [00:52:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. [00:52:34] Speaker D: I haven't played fantasy football in probably four or five years now, but even when I did, I. You would. I did not sniff Vikings on the roster. I felt like that was bad, a bad move. [00:52:46] Speaker B: Did you put Michigan players on the roster? [00:52:49] Speaker D: No. [00:52:50] Speaker B: Oh, see, you're double. Do you have a. What's it called? A superstition for the game, Justin. I joked with them that when Notre Dame went 12 and Owen lost to Alabama, I had the world's longest beard. A freshman in college could have and had to shave it the day after. And no one at college knew who I was. [00:53:08] Speaker D: Shoot. No, I don't think that I have any, like, superstition. Okay, I'm going. My wife and I are going with a couple of friends that we've met and the guy has a. A bus that he's renovated to look, you know, it's a let's decked out Lions bus. And he's told us, you know, no Vikings gear on the bus. Once we arrive, you can put your stuff on. So no superstitions. And even if I had them, I don't know that I would be able to just follow through with them. [00:53:34] Speaker B: Okay. All right. Well, Justin, thank you for calling in. This has been a treat for us. Do you guys have any parting words you want to give Justin? [00:53:42] Speaker C: Justin, as the resident Lions fan. The real resident Lions fan. [00:53:46] Speaker A: Hey. [00:53:46] Speaker B: Wow. [00:53:47] Speaker C: Not new, mean, very, very old school here. [00:53:49] Speaker B: Good. [00:53:50] Speaker C: Good luck next Sunday. Good luck. [00:53:51] Speaker A: I'm older than you. [00:53:53] Speaker D: I. I appreciate. [00:53:54] Speaker C: I actually, I hate the fact that this game is happening mostly because the winner, I mean, they're going to get to buy the loser. This sucks for the loser. This is awful. [00:54:03] Speaker D: Kyle abandoned the Packers. [00:54:05] Speaker C: Have you, Kyle? [00:54:06] Speaker A: No. No. It doesn't work that way. [00:54:09] Speaker C: If he was a real. If he was a true hardcore Lions. [00:54:13] Speaker A: Fan, he was not how it works. [00:54:15] Speaker C: He would have loved for the packers to lose or to win by. [00:54:18] Speaker D: Or. [00:54:18] Speaker C: No, wait. [00:54:19] Speaker B: Wow. [00:54:20] Speaker C: They wanted him to win. [00:54:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:54:23] Speaker A: If you were a true Lions fan, you would have cheered for the backers. [00:54:27] Speaker B: The stress of being down by seven points and having to worry about next week game is too much for Ian to even get it out right now. So we'll just let that be your last words to Justin. Kyle, any parting words you want to give, Justin, as a listener to our show? [00:54:39] Speaker A: Very thankful, Justin, that you're continuing to be a part of this show. Consider yourself a part of the point after you're now an officially, like, a friend of the show. You are, like, embedded into the fabric of this ongoing podcast forever and ever. Amen. So thank you for. For continuing to participate and send us more Viking stuff. It's great to be kind of like rounding out more of the NFC north and more fandoms here. Vikings are always an interesting story every season. They never fail to be part of the stories that we should be talking about. And that's going to continue next year. So stick around with us. [00:55:15] Speaker B: Maybe next year I'll become a Bears fan and we can just round out. [00:55:19] Speaker C: Don't do that to yourself. [00:55:21] Speaker B: That was supposed to be that. Sorry I messed the button up. Justin, thank you for calling in. We'll talk to you soon. All right. [00:55:26] Speaker D: All right, take care, folks. [00:55:29] Speaker B: All right, we're gonna go to our weekly segment. We have biggest news, but we're gonna move past that because next week we're gonna talk playoffs. We're gonna have a little bit more time, talk some about of these bigger news things. Do you feel like we missed anything in there, Ian, that you're, like, looking at and saying, we've been two weeks, why we'd not hit on this? [00:55:43] Speaker C: Oh, is that. [00:55:44] Speaker B: Got a great segment we can hit with? [00:55:46] Speaker C: Normally I would, but I don't got anything off the top of my head. [00:55:49] Speaker B: Guys, we're going to move to our weekly segment called the Chip Skylar week. Guys, I've been doing the Haterade. Do you guys know who Chip Skylark is? [00:55:59] Speaker C: I feel. [00:56:00] Speaker B: Any idea. [00:56:00] Speaker A: Just in case somebody doesn't, you know. [00:56:04] Speaker B: For those who don't, I'll. You know, but I'll tell it so Ian knows. So Chip Schuyler is a singer on Fairly Oddparents, and he sings a song called Shiny Teeth and Me. It's all about him loving the smile on his face and the things that make him smile. And guys, I got some things. Instead of Haterade making hate, okay? We're gonna. I want to make you smile. And I got a couple code words down here in a little word bank that I need you guys. I need you locked in right here. So I want. [00:56:37] Speaker A: I'm excited about this. [00:56:38] Speaker B: I want everybody to just pay attention because we got one through five right here, and I got a couple honorable mentions as well, was this hard for. [00:56:45] Speaker A: You to put together? [00:56:46] Speaker B: It was a lot of fun, actually. I found myself smiling while in the living room by myself today. [00:56:51] Speaker A: Okay, I can't wait. I can't wait. [00:56:53] Speaker B: All right, the first thing, and you're going to put this one through five. [00:56:57] Speaker A: Biggest smile to smallest smile. [00:56:59] Speaker B: Yep. [00:56:59] Speaker A: Okay. [00:56:59] Speaker B: Number one, biggest smile, five, smallest smile. Cbs, during their game, cut to a field that had a duck on it. [00:57:08] Speaker A: The Falcons game, right. [00:57:09] Speaker B: To which a game was next, followed with the Buccaneers blocking a punt and taking it back for a touchdown, to which the Buccaneers had a person on the sideline, go get the duck. Hold the duck up to the field, and the crowd went crazy. Did that put the biggest smile as a one or the smallest smile as a five? [00:57:32] Speaker A: Well, that's a pretty big smile. They got a lucky duck and they. So they just went out and caught the duck just like that? [00:57:37] Speaker B: Well, they first somebody tried to shoo him off the field. It didn't work. The other team tried to shoo him, and they're like, didn't work. [00:57:43] Speaker C: Did you. Heck, did you see the guy who actually ended up holding the duck? [00:57:47] Speaker B: No. [00:57:47] Speaker A: No. [00:57:48] Speaker C: Straight up Duck Dynasty looking. [00:57:50] Speaker A: Seriously. [00:57:50] Speaker B: Quack, quack. [00:57:52] Speaker C: He had a mullet and everything. It was just because of that. I was initially going to put this at my typical three. I'll put it at two. [00:57:59] Speaker B: I like you going typical three. That's your. That is your move. I'm glad you said it. [00:58:03] Speaker C: But I went to put it at 2 because of the mullet guy holding the duck. [00:58:07] Speaker B: It was perfect. [00:58:08] Speaker C: And he gave the duck a kiss. Oh, the little head. It was adorable. [00:58:13] Speaker B: I like it. Kyle, where's it going for you? One through five? [00:58:16] Speaker A: Where did you put it? [00:58:17] Speaker B: Yeah, two. [00:58:18] Speaker C: I put it at two. [00:58:19] Speaker A: Okay, okay. I'll put it at three. [00:58:21] Speaker B: Okay. Now, my second thing that I have on here, does it make you smile? The code word I have here is 20 years. The NFC east again has another division winner that is not the same one from last year, and that has happened for 20 years in a row. Amazing smile. Big, small in the middle. Where are we at here, Kyle? Give us a number. [00:58:45] Speaker A: I'm going to go. It's cute. It's cute. I'll give it a five. I'll smile a little bit. [00:58:51] Speaker C: That's how I was putting it. [00:58:52] Speaker B: Wow. Wow. You guys agree? Okay. [00:58:54] Speaker C: It's, like, fun, but it's like the. [00:58:56] Speaker B: Next thing I have in here is baseball, and we're an NFL podcast, so I'm kind of stretching here. Do you guys know on last Thursday we had a pretty. We had a barn burner. I was texting a girl from Tinder who was talking about this game. I'm like, what is on with my life? I'm talking to a girl who likes Seattle and Chicago. I gotta unmatch this girl. Seattle won 6 to 3 and that happened on December 26th. Some people got their belated Christmas gift. I don't know if you know this. Seattle beat Chicago earlier this year 6 to 3. In baseball, that would be the Mariners beating the White Sox on July 29. Also, the Bears are.09 since that hail Mary happened and their cornerback wasn't paying attention to the field. [00:59:44] Speaker A: Right. [00:59:45] Speaker B: One through five. Give me. Or one through four. We're stuck on one through four now because you both picked five. What's your smile? [00:59:51] Speaker C: I do. [00:59:52] Speaker B: It's because we all love a little good Bears hatred. [00:59:55] Speaker C: I do. Which I'll put it at three. Three. I'll buy some bear hatred at you. [00:59:59] Speaker B: Have one, two, and four open. Kyle. [01:00:01] Speaker A: Yeah, you. This is one of. You're trying to make me smile at a negative. [01:00:05] Speaker B: I know. [01:00:06] Speaker A: Yeah. So I'm gonna go with a four. But I'm not. I'm not unhappy about it. Like, it's fine like that. Oh, that's cute. That's kind of funny. The Seahawks beat the Bears. And then what about this? [01:00:15] Speaker B: Does it make you smile that Baker Mayfield's having his best season and would be the Brown's best all time quarterback if he wasn't traded? Don't forget right now, he was traded because they wanted, and I quote, an adult in the locker room. Now they have desean Watson. You have one and two open right here. [01:00:38] Speaker C: Kyle, they've been terrible the entire. [01:00:39] Speaker B: Do you think I'm going to give you one that's better than that? [01:00:42] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [01:00:42] Speaker B: And Ian, right now you have one in four. [01:00:45] Speaker C: I already know where this is going. [01:00:47] Speaker A: You're going number one. [01:00:48] Speaker C: It's going number one. [01:00:49] Speaker B: That was number one for you. [01:00:50] Speaker A: All right, adult. This is very satisfying. This is the kind of thing that I would go and tell people. People about. Like, do you know, Isn't this funny? Check this out. [01:00:58] Speaker B: So it's one for you. [01:00:59] Speaker A: I'll take it. I'll put it in. All right. [01:01:01] Speaker C: I love some good baked love. [01:01:02] Speaker B: So this is going to be two for Kyle and four for Ian. And I got a couple honorable mentions that are going to make you smile too. All right, the last one is anything that is related to the Pop Tart Bowl. I don't know if anybody watched anything from the Pop Tart Bowl. [01:01:18] Speaker C: The only thing I saw was the giant Pop Tart that the players got to eat. [01:01:22] Speaker B: Well, I'm just. For those of you that don't know the Pop Tart Bowl, I saw a picture of Tiger woods shaking hands with John Daly smoking a cigarette, and it was Tiger woods was the super bowl and John Daly and colorful pants and a sweatshirt smoking a cigarette on a golf course. Was the Pop Tar bowl everything about. I'm just going to show you a video. We're not. I'm not clicking on the video. I don't want the audio. I just want you to see it. Just see that and tell me you don't smile at watching this Pop Tar bowl rip off a rapper like he's Hulk Hogan. Okay. Something about that just makes everybody smile. So everything related to the Pop Tart bowl is amazing. [01:02:00] Speaker A: I love pop Tarts. [01:02:00] Speaker B: I have three honorable mentions. [01:02:02] Speaker A: I'm big into it. Although they're very messy. Apparently when my kids eat them, somehow they make a huge mess with their freaking pop Tarts. [01:02:08] Speaker B: I'm going to an answer that only you can give me. Okay. You ready for this? You're an Oreo aficionado. You've been eating toffee crunch flavored Oreos. Not sponsored One day may be sponsored by Oreo. You are not. How can I put this? You're not a fan of double stuff. Okay. You're traditional, though. I've heard somebody on the Internet said that Pop Tarts need a double stuffed pop Tart. Like more flavor. There isn't a lot of flavor in there. What would you think of that? Would you be pro or anti putting more stuff in the pop Tart. I'm going to Kyle on this because he's the aficionado of stuffing anti. Wow. [01:02:49] Speaker A: Keep it the way it is. [01:02:51] Speaker C: Can I just agree with you? [01:02:52] Speaker D: All right. [01:02:52] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:02:53] Speaker B: All right. Deal. [01:02:53] Speaker C: That's all I want to do. [01:02:55] Speaker B: All right. I have three honorable mentions. I'm going to roll through them quick and I just want your quick response to this. And then we're going to get to our must watch game of the week because I need to hear your guys take on this Lions game. All right, honorable mentions. Garrett Wilson has said that he may request a trade if Aaron Rodgers stays as a quarterback next year in 2025. [01:03:14] Speaker A: Heard about that? That was a rumor. [01:03:15] Speaker B: Get a smile on your face. Does it make a smile? I'm going to go to Ian. I'm just going to stare at you when I say this one. You ready? You know, Jordan, love is 11 to no against teams with a worse record than him at the time. And he's 0 and 5 against teams that have a better record than him this season. [01:03:29] Speaker C: I love that. [01:03:30] Speaker A: All right. [01:03:31] Speaker B: Sorry. I didn't mean to do that to you, Kyle. I mean, not to Kyle. In our last one, guys, we had this past week, we had. Let me tell you about this. We talked about some great football that happened, guys. We had Mason Rudolph vs. Mac Jones, Kenny Pickett vs. Cooper Rush, Tyler Huntley vs. DTR Joe Flacco and Drew Locke, Aiden O'Connell and Spencer Rattler. And I did not leave the couch for seven hours. Did that make you smile? Guys, this is our Chip Schuyler. Make sure you put a little smile on your week Chip Skyler week segment that we have going for. What do you guys think of this segment this week? [01:04:09] Speaker C: It's fun. I like a little positivity. [01:04:11] Speaker A: I do. [01:04:11] Speaker B: Thank you. We changed it up. It's a new year. It's a new me. [01:04:14] Speaker A: I'm beaming. [01:04:15] Speaker C: So almost a new year. [01:04:17] Speaker B: Correct. But by the time people are listening, they might not listen tomorrow. They might have it on the first guys. I know, son. We do know. And it's the game of the week. I put two on here, but I'm crossing the other one off. Cincy and Pitt. Goodbye. [01:04:31] Speaker C: Get out of here. [01:04:32] Speaker B: Get out. [01:04:32] Speaker A: No one's care. [01:04:32] Speaker B: Not the super bowl of the regular season. I haven't heard that said. Yeah, I have not heard that. And I haven't had a lot of things where there's not a lot of games. Week 17 or even week 16, before he had 17 weeks that we had a season, a one seed determined on the last game of the year. [01:04:52] Speaker C: So the last time this occurred, where the two teams played would determine the one seed was in 1993 with the Cowboy. No, it was the Giants and the Cowboys. [01:05:04] Speaker B: Wow. [01:05:04] Speaker A: Oh, wow. For all the marbles for the one seed. [01:05:09] Speaker C: This is crazy. This is just like the losers in dire straits of this game. [01:05:15] Speaker A: They will be the 5 seed and go to Philadelphia, correct? [01:05:18] Speaker C: No, they'll go to either Tampa or la. Well, technically. Technically, Tampa hasn't sealed it. [01:05:26] Speaker A: Packers are going to Philadelphia as a seventh seed, most likely. [01:05:29] Speaker C: Technically, Tampa hasn't sealed this as like, they're in, but they're playing the Saints, so I have a feeling they're gonna win. But they're either going, they're on the road, and then they're on the road again. And then they're probably on the road again. This team will not be back. [01:05:47] Speaker B: So tell Me? Why? Tell me why the Lions are going to win, Kyle. See what I did there, Ian? [01:05:57] Speaker A: This is. [01:05:58] Speaker C: It's actually easier for me to tell you why they're gonna lose right now. [01:06:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:06:02] Speaker B: Why do you think I set it up that way? Have faith in your partner here. Why are they gonna win? [01:06:08] Speaker A: Because the Lions are the team of destiny. And I've said it all year long. This team has grit. This team is determined. This team has talent all over the field. This team has as the coach that. That is the envy of the league. And they've put a magical season together. And this is where it's all going to come. Come to bear. And they're going to have a chance to rest their people and get healthy for the divisional round. This. It's going to happen. I'm manifesting it a little bit, but I'm telling you that the Lions team is special and this is their moment this coming Sunday. [01:06:42] Speaker B: Can I crack me up? Tell me why they're going to lose. [01:06:46] Speaker C: Why the Vikings are going to win is because the Lions defense is banged up. And if as I watch the Ners run and walk all over their defense, it's already 13 to 21. They're about to score before the end of the half. It looks like. [01:07:03] Speaker B: Lions are. [01:07:04] Speaker C: No, the Niners are. The Lions went four down, fourth down, and they did not get it. [01:07:09] Speaker A: What? [01:07:10] Speaker C: And it was like all the way down at the end zone. So pretty unfortunate. Pretty unfortunate. [01:07:15] Speaker B: Wow. That was good. [01:07:17] Speaker C: Looks like they're going to hold him to a field goal at least. Maybe so. [01:07:19] Speaker B: So aside from this game. [01:07:20] Speaker C: Aside from this game, their defense has looked very suspect. The Bills completely demolished them. And the Cobble or the. The Bears, while 17 was the final score line, they were moving the ball pretty well against them. They're going to go into this game relatively unhealthy against an offense that is just red hot. And I think the Vikings as of now are just healthier. They're playing better football, and I think they're just going to be in a better position. What the Lions have going for them is it's at home. And I think that's going to play a big factor. [01:08:00] Speaker A: Aaron Jones is questionable, currently the Vikings number one running back, and he's been a pretty dynamic player. One of their better pickups this off season. So lacking him is going to be putting them down one important weapon on their offense. [01:08:14] Speaker C: If the Lions. So technically, Anzalone's window. [01:08:18] Speaker B: That's what I was just going to ask. [01:08:19] Speaker C: It can be opened this week. [01:08:21] Speaker B: He's A big person. Every week I've been hearing he's come back in the end of the season. He's coming back. He's coming back. [01:08:27] Speaker C: His window can technically open this week and there is a very high probability. I wouldn't be shocked if they think he's ready to go for this game. They'll play him of how like desperately. [01:08:39] Speaker B: They need and I think to get some of that rust off. [01:08:41] Speaker C: Yeah. So it's just such a scary game because the winner. Oh man, you're sitting back. You're going to be at home for the rest of the season. Week off, you get a week off. No team needs it more than the Lions. [01:08:54] Speaker A: I'd agree with that. [01:08:55] Speaker C: I just don't think there's like I just look at a lot of these other gate like teams and I think they're fine. [01:09:00] Speaker A: They're going to leave it all out there on the field. This team, they're going to play like it is the super bowl. [01:09:04] Speaker B: And I like Justin's take that. He wants them to win tonight because you don't want to pissed off Lions team. They'll be fighting which that is a way. I love hearing that like that's a way I that's spoken like a fan who's been hurt. Yeah. Like who's had to live with it. And the Lions are finally good and he has a chance that they could hurt him again. Justin, that was. It was a great. It was a treat. Listeners, if you want to ever call into our pod, tell us. We would love to have you if you're in town. I gotta tell you, Jamie, he's in town right now. He could have came and done a little bit of the pod as a Chiefs. It's busy, busy. But it's okay. Next time things to do what it's. [01:09:42] Speaker A: 8 o'clock at night. [01:09:43] Speaker B: We're gonna look at in the future getting him on the pod, that's for sure. Last hit, last pit part bit of the show. [01:09:53] Speaker C: The last thing. [01:09:54] Speaker B: Our predictions guys are upset in our locks of the week. We pick every game and we need to talk a little bit about it because Kyle didn't pick three games and he is still winning. Currently he's up 12. I'm hoping that I can get. Let's see how many could I get? [01:10:10] Speaker A: Two, three or six weeks because I forgot to put in my picks. [01:10:13] Speaker B: Yeah, I could get these 18 points correct and you could get all of them wrong because I'm going a little spicy. I probably can't win. We'll see. But we pick every Game in the loser. The bottom two based on our points have to pay for the number ones free steak dinner. [01:10:33] Speaker C: I've only ever paid. [01:10:34] Speaker B: His chocolate milk and drink, correct? [01:10:37] Speaker A: Yes. [01:10:37] Speaker C: I have only ever paid. [01:10:40] Speaker B: It's a great answer, sir. We're gonna start with our lock of the week, the team we guarantee. I went on a bold stretch here and picked Baltimore. I already told Kyle who how much they were fav. [01:10:50] Speaker A: Favored. [01:10:50] Speaker B: Ian, guess how much they are favored right now over the Browns. [01:10:55] Speaker C: Are they playing Lamar? [01:10:57] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, it's on Saturday. [01:11:01] Speaker C: Like 14 points. [01:11:02] Speaker B: 18. Did you say 20 at the beginning? You almost said 20. Okay, perfect. I thought I did hear that. So it's good to hear. Ian, who's your lock of the week team that you guarantee will win? [01:11:10] Speaker C: There's a couple teams on here that are just. [01:11:13] Speaker D: I. [01:11:13] Speaker C: When I was looking at the games, it was hard to pick because it's hard to look at some of them and be like, well, who are they resting? Is Saquon gonna play? Is Saquon not gonna play? Is he gonna be able to get the record? Is he not gonna be able to get right there? Like there's those things. There's some of these teams, like the Bengals are playing the Steelers. Steelers, I think are locked in at 5. They can't go up or down. Who are they gonna play? You know, those types of things. It's really hard to pick. So I went with a team that has to win. They have to win to stay in. That's Tampa. And they're going up against a crap team in the Saints. That feels like a very clear. [01:11:53] Speaker B: I like it. [01:11:54] Speaker A: Okay. [01:11:54] Speaker C: Clear win. [01:11:56] Speaker A: I locked in the Chargers over the Raiders. The Chargers still have a lot to play in. Play for to make sure that they are in remain in the playoffs in the final spot. [01:12:03] Speaker C: No, they are. Chargers are already. [01:12:05] Speaker A: Oh, they're already clinched. [01:12:05] Speaker C: Yeah, they're already. [01:12:06] Speaker B: That's already locked, though. We're already. Let's go. All right. Our upset of the week. The team that we think Vegas has the wrong answer when it comes to who's going to win. I was going to pick Minnesota over the Lions, but I'm not doing that to. Justin. You're too good of a listener for me to do that too, so I'm going to take your advice, Justin. I'm going New England over Buffalo. I changed my pick. New England is going to beat Buffalo because Drake May is going to prove that he needs to be the quarterback because they're currently the number one overall draft pick. And I heard a take of All Takes Today by Nick Wright, which I know is. It's all set on Fox Sports and it is said just for people to react. So I'm gonna say it, and then I'm gonna mute both of their mics and they're gonna react. I'm guaranteeing it'll get a reaction out of you. So it's gonna be so loud, their reaction, you're gonna be able to hear it off mic. Their reaction. You ready? All right, New England. Next year, if they think Drake May isn't such a good quarterback, they should trade him and shop him to the Tennessee Titans, who have the second pick. And they should get Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter and then fire and hire Deion Sanders to be the coach for the New England Patriots. What? Okay, that was good. [01:13:24] Speaker C: Wow. [01:13:25] Speaker B: That's a take. [01:13:25] Speaker C: That's a. [01:13:26] Speaker B: It's a. That's a hot take. [01:13:29] Speaker C: That is a sexy take. [01:13:32] Speaker B: I kind of. I almost don't want your guys's take on it. Other than that, it's a freaking take week. [01:13:37] Speaker C: I kind of like it. [01:13:38] Speaker B: All right, Kyle, give us your upset of the week. [01:13:41] Speaker A: Said is the Arizona Cardinals upsetting the Niners in the final week of football? [01:13:44] Speaker C: Wow. [01:13:45] Speaker B: I didn't think you were gonna go. Arizona. [01:13:47] Speaker A: Yeah, they've got something left. [01:13:50] Speaker B: I like it. I like it. [01:13:51] Speaker C: I'm gonna give you mine. I was kind of holding that for a little bit. Sorry, guys, but I think Carson Wentz has something to prove, and I think he's gonna do that. And I think Denver. I don't think Denver's gonna make it to the playoffs. [01:14:07] Speaker A: Wow. [01:14:07] Speaker C: I'm gonna. I don't think they're gonna do it. I think the Bengals are gonna get into the playoffs. [01:14:13] Speaker B: The Bengals need two losses. They need. [01:14:16] Speaker C: And I think these are both manageable. And I just want the Bengals to go in there. [01:14:20] Speaker B: I like that. So I like rooting with what you want. [01:14:23] Speaker C: I'm taking the Chiefs as the underdog because they're supposedly resting guys. They're arresting people now. [01:14:34] Speaker B: You know, I. Can I say two things and then we'll get your guys. Last bit. Kyler Murray, we've joked about him with the whole Call of Duty thing this year. Before Call of Duty 6 was released, he's had nine touchdowns and three interceptions. And since then, he's at eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. I needed that to be said on the record. I also wanted to ask you as a question, and I'm going to throw this out there. If Jamie, when he's listening to this, it's going to be a shout out to him. Currently, the Chiefs have never been available to be on press row for players during super bowl week. Because they're always in the Super Bowl. [01:15:06] Speaker A: Right. [01:15:07] Speaker B: Who would be the player on the Chiefs that would go on super bowl radio row and be interviewed by all these people? Because you're not going to put Mahomes on radio row to be ambushed by all these people. You're not gonna put Travis Kelsey. They're way too popular. Who's the next. Who's the third person on the Chiefs? [01:15:26] Speaker C: Chris Jones. [01:15:27] Speaker A: Yeah, maybe. [01:15:28] Speaker B: I don't know if people could pick Chris Jones out of a lineup. I think he could walk in the studio with his jersey on and some people might not know him. [01:15:35] Speaker A: This studio, we all know what Chris Jones looks like. [01:15:38] Speaker C: I mean, they've been in. [01:15:39] Speaker A: They've been a prime time for years. We've been watching this team. He's been there. One of the best defensive tackles in the league. [01:15:44] Speaker B: I don't think somebody. I don't think an. An average sports fan could pick out who Luke Keakley is. [01:15:50] Speaker A: I don't know. [01:15:51] Speaker B: Isaiah. [01:15:52] Speaker A: Oh, Harrison Bucker. [01:15:55] Speaker B: That's a great answer. [01:15:57] Speaker C: Great answer. [01:15:57] Speaker B: Jamie, I want your answer to that. [01:15:59] Speaker C: Because if they don't make it. [01:16:01] Speaker B: That's a good answer. But that's just kind of my little tidbit on there. Anything else you want to leave for our listeners before we head out, Guys? [01:16:09] Speaker C: The only thing we kind of briefly touched on Saquon. [01:16:14] Speaker B: Oh. [01:16:14] Speaker A: Because that's where I was going to go. [01:16:15] Speaker C: Well, we didn't really talk about whether. Or not. Do you think. Because it's apparently up in the air whether he's gonna play or not. Do you think he should play? First off, let's get that question out of the way. Do you think Saquon should play in. [01:16:28] Speaker A: A meaningless game for the only purpose of trying to break the rushing record? [01:16:32] Speaker C: Correct. [01:16:33] Speaker A: Needing to accrue 100 yards over the hapless New York Giants, which is quite achievable. [01:16:38] Speaker C: His former team, mind you. [01:16:40] Speaker A: It would be very meaningful. I think an argument could be made. I think you would get crucified if he gets hurt in any way. [01:16:48] Speaker B: Oh, a thousand percent. [01:16:50] Speaker C: Correct. Correct. And I know what I would do. [01:16:53] Speaker B: I hope he plays. I hope he plays. And I hope he not only breaks the record, I hope he breaks the record for the most rushing yards in a game. Because right now that team said no one will pay him that money. And he basically. He's not going to be good enough. [01:17:10] Speaker A: Right. [01:17:10] Speaker B: And not only was he not. Not only was he not that he was great. This is what happens when you put a great player behind a great line. [01:17:20] Speaker A: I'm all in for humiliating the new New York Giants. I don't think they can be further dragged. [01:17:26] Speaker C: More like when that video of them during Hard Knocks came out. They have been murdered. [01:17:32] Speaker B: Kyle has been joking about it all year. I think they documented how awful they are for everyone to laugh at for years now. [01:17:38] Speaker A: I wonder if they'll even ever do one of those off season GM hard Knocks again. [01:17:44] Speaker B: Never. [01:17:44] Speaker A: I think they might. Hard Knocks might not even do it. What team is going to sign up for that just so that they can look like idiots in the upcoming season. The New York Times have just done the dumbest thing ever. And like one of the funniest things that I saw over this course of this week was a New York Giants fan commenting on how they were watching the split screen and at the same time they're watching two things go on one screen. They're watching the New York Giants game and watching Drew Lock. Drew Lock go nuclear and have a. [01:18:14] Speaker B: Sentence no one has said ever. [01:18:16] Speaker A: Drew Lock have the best game of his. Drew Lock had a game better than many great quarterbacks have ever had. [01:18:22] Speaker C: They became the nuclear Giants. Many. [01:18:27] Speaker A: Of the great quarterbacks that we love and admire and consider in the upper echelon never had a game this good. He had a historically good game, unquestionably the better of his career and ruined their chances of getting the number one pick. They would have had it, but he's throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for one and going crazy. Players don't tank. That's the important thing to remember. But Drew Locke the going out there and ruining their draft chances. So the fans are watching this happen saying what are you doing? The dumbest thing you possibly could. Go dominate this game and beat the Colts. And we should. We haven't even touched on the Colts and how stupid they are and what a fun pick that was at the beginning of the season. One of the worst seasons and one of the saddest, most disappointing, frustrated seasons of the team. The team in the NFL. But the Giants just looking like idiots on one screen right here because they're ruining. They're setting themselves back years with this loss and moving into a poorer position. On the other screen you're watching Saquon, Saquon Barkley and the Giants and Saquon beat the across the 2,000 rushing yards mark and becoming one of, what is it like seven, one of nine players in the history of the league who've gone over 2,000 rushing yards in a season. You're watching both of those happen and that's like, that's got to be one of the lowest points you can be. [01:19:40] Speaker B: You can't. An SNL writer could not come up with a better. [01:19:45] Speaker A: These are. Yeah, it would, it would be unbelievable. It would look contrived, like this is happening simultaneously. You're watching this occur and how can you support this? How can you. How can those, how can those. How can Joe Shane and Brian Dabel defend themselves and have a job in the NFL after this? I. I just don't understand. This franchise is, is a total mess and has done some of the dumbest things ever. Anyway, you guys thought the Jetson, the Browns are worse. [01:20:11] Speaker B: I hope. He's been waiting to get the last word on it and I think we should give it to him today. [01:20:15] Speaker C: But so should they run Saquon or not? [01:20:20] Speaker B: What do you got there? [01:20:21] Speaker C: I. I would say yes for the first half. And if it doesn't look like he's going to get it, pull him if he's close, if he's only got like 20 more yards to go, let him do it. [01:20:33] Speaker A: Right. [01:20:38] Speaker B: We want to thank you for listening to the point after, for sending it to your friends, your family, your co workers. Send it to the guy at work that you don't really like, but you don't really have a good reason for. Maybe he likes the pot, you know, give him a minute. Send it to the guy, hey, you know what? Get a QR code for our app. Walk around downtown, show it to the people. That's what I want you to do. Alright? And it's a new year, it might be a new me, but more importantly, it's the same old you. The same listener that comes back week in, week out to hear us ramble, rumble, bumble, stumble all over our words. You don't know this, but we all look at each other when we mess words up and go, did he say that? Sometimes we even laugh at each other. Like Ian and I did to Kyle. Kyle walked out of the room so I can say it now. He's back. Just kidding. Hope you guys have a great rest of your week. Bye.
