[00:00:05] Speaker B: Make it nerdy.
Make it nerdy. Make it nerdy. Make it nerdy. Make it nerdy. Make it nerdy. Make it nerdy. Making nerdy. Making energy. Making energy. Making it.
[00:00:24] Speaker C: Dirty.
[00:00:25] Speaker B: Making.
Make it nerdy. Make it nerdy. I gotta breathe. I can breathe.
[00:00:40] Speaker D: All right.
[00:00:41] Speaker B: Welcome to Make It Nerdy. Welcome to Make It Nerdy.
[00:00:44] Speaker E: Guys.
[00:00:44] Speaker B: It's a podcast where we talk about all things that are.
Thank you. That was like. We planned it.
[00:00:51] Speaker D: Don't have a theme song yet if you couldn't figure that out.
[00:00:54] Speaker B: Commish.
[00:00:55] Speaker D: Yeah, we need the Commish step up.
[00:00:58] Speaker B: Or we just need to find a new commission. We need to find a new friend named Roger Goodell for this pod.
[00:01:04] Speaker D: We need to find our Kevin Feige.
[00:01:07] Speaker B: Whoa.
We should find a Kevin Feige on Facebook and then not the official. And ask him to sing a song. We're gonna have to change for our intro.
[00:01:16] Speaker A: You have to change the name.
[00:01:18] Speaker B: Our friend named Kevin Feige.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Make it nerdy.
[00:01:21] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:01:22] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, yeah.
[00:01:24] Speaker E: Part of the.
[00:01:25] Speaker D: For sure.
[00:01:25] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:26] Speaker C: Cuz, what about that cameo app? The one that you.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: Oh, that's not a bad idea.
[00:01:32] Speaker D: These are things we didn't think about before we started.
[00:01:35] Speaker C: Right? Clearly.
[00:01:37] Speaker E: This is episode one where we decide what the show is.
[00:01:40] Speaker C: Welcome.
[00:01:41] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:01:42] Speaker B: And this is where we're live producing on air. And I'm going to ask Thane and Kyle to talk into that mic a little bit more so our listeners can hear you.
Our first part of our show today is we're going to have a little icebreaker for us, guys. It's a new pod when you get some listeners that don't normally listen to us, hear a little bit about us. And what better way to answer that question? With another question.
[00:02:05] Speaker D: Love question.
[00:02:06] Speaker B: Which nerdy question would you, nerdy character, would you like to hang out with and what would you do?
[00:02:11] Speaker D: I like the idea. Which nerdy question would you come up with?
[00:02:14] Speaker B: That's actually next week. Nerdy character.
[00:02:17] Speaker E: That makes me think like a character who is a nerd. But I was kind of picturing more like something from basically nerdy Me.
[00:02:23] Speaker A: Nerd. Dumb.
[00:02:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Should I kick it off for you guys? I got a good answer for you.
[00:02:27] Speaker D: All right.
[00:02:28] Speaker A: Go for it.
[00:02:28] Speaker B: I'm going to karaoke with Groot.
Strictly adolescent Groot.
[00:02:35] Speaker A: That's okay.
[00:02:36] Speaker B: It'd be a lot of. I think. I think we could potentially be a really good duet. Maybe, like Outcast.
Heya.
[00:02:44] Speaker E: I like it.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: Thank you. Next.
[00:02:47] Speaker A: That's a good one.
[00:02:47] Speaker E: Not bad.
[00:02:48] Speaker B: You were supposed to laugh. Go ahead.
Thank you.
[00:02:51] Speaker D: I'll feel nerdy character would I like to hang out with and what would we do?
Oh, you know, I think I should hang out with. Because I'm a science teacher. I think I should hang out with Bill Nye.
[00:03:06] Speaker B: Doc.
[00:03:07] Speaker D: Oh, Doc Ock.
[00:03:10] Speaker B: Dr. Strange.
[00:03:11] Speaker D: Dr. Strange.
[00:03:12] Speaker A: Bit of a scientist, but.
[00:03:13] Speaker D: But really it's. I mean he is.
[00:03:18] Speaker B: I understood that reference.
[00:03:19] Speaker D: He is like a.
[00:03:20] Speaker E: Although I like the dog.
[00:03:21] Speaker D: There's a lot of doctors, there's a lot of doc.
[00:03:23] Speaker E: There's a lot of sciency people.
[00:03:26] Speaker D: I like the idea of Doc Ock now. The more I'm thinking about it.
[00:03:29] Speaker A: What would you guys do?
[00:03:30] Speaker D: I don't know. He could give me a massage and do other things.
[00:03:34] Speaker A: I was gonna.
[00:03:35] Speaker B: Beautiful thing I was gonna ask.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: Question needed to stay pg.
[00:03:40] Speaker D: What do you think?
[00:03:41] Speaker B: I think this is a Deshaun Watson podcast.
[00:03:44] Speaker D: Okay, okay, listen.
This is started off with Bill Nye and we went into. You went to massage multiple hands.
[00:03:53] Speaker B: What do we got here for your answer?
[00:03:55] Speaker A: Anthony, you know, in honor of our text group, I think I'm gonna have to say Chuck from Nerd Herd.
Levi.
[00:04:04] Speaker B: And what are you guys doing together?
[00:04:07] Speaker A: Doing a nerdy podcast.
[00:04:09] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:04:10] Speaker B: Oh, that wasn't creative.
[00:04:13] Speaker D: We gotta work on your creative juices here.
[00:04:15] Speaker B: It's all right. We're one for one right now. Anthony, Thane, how about you? Character activity. Hit us.
[00:04:22] Speaker C: Character activity. I think it was a toss up between a few, but I think Star Lord.
[00:04:31] Speaker B: Oh, carpool. Karaoke.
[00:04:35] Speaker C: Oh, sure. I'm not a huge karaoke guy, but like I could probably get in.
[00:04:39] Speaker B: You would kill it at karaoke.
You would kill it.
[00:04:44] Speaker D: Did you guys guys know who were your backups?
[00:04:48] Speaker A: Oh, other picks.
[00:04:50] Speaker C: Fred and George Weasley.
[00:04:54] Speaker B: Okay, Fireworks.
[00:04:56] Speaker A: That's a good pick. That's a good pick.
[00:04:59] Speaker D: That is actually.
[00:05:00] Speaker A: That's a really pretty solid.
[00:05:01] Speaker D: That actually sounds like a riot. I never even think about that universe sometimes.
And I like hair.
[00:05:09] Speaker C: I'll remind you, cuz that's all I think about.
[00:05:12] Speaker A: Marshall's there wishing he could study with Hermione now.
[00:05:16] Speaker C: Here we go.
[00:05:18] Speaker B: Kyle, how about you, my friend?
[00:05:20] Speaker E: I'm going Gandalf. Specifically the Gray. And not that pretentious boring old white one, but the Gandalf, the Gray, who just is not only like the most interesting man in all of Middle Earth, cuz he's been everywhere, done everything. Older than everybody. Like there's nobody who's cooler or wiser and more full of like crazy stories, but he's also like super chill and just want us like Hang out in the country and smoke some weed and just, like, chill with buddies and. He's got a great sense of humor. He's like a good time guy who wouldn't make you feel like you're less than.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: He's a vibes guy for sure.
[00:05:57] Speaker D: He's got fireworks.
[00:05:59] Speaker E: Yeah, fireworks.
[00:05:59] Speaker B: He's kind of a glue guy, too. He brings people together of different. Of different mindsets.
[00:06:05] Speaker D: Not gonna lie. When you said he's a glue guy, I was like, he's a glue sniffer.
[00:06:12] Speaker B: Ian.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: I hate. I went there, too.
[00:06:15] Speaker D: That was my first thought, man, because.
[00:06:18] Speaker A: Kyle was talking about the weed smoking and. Yeah.
[00:06:21] Speaker B: No, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:06:23] Speaker A: You're going, right.
[00:06:23] Speaker B: I like the idea, though. Gandalf would be a fun time. I actually. Who would have better fireworks between you and Thane?
[00:06:30] Speaker C: Fred and George or Gandalf?
[00:06:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:33] Speaker D: Two wizards duking it out.
[00:06:36] Speaker B: You know when they. They say if you have two wizards, you don't have one at all?
Like quarterbacks. That was a joke about the point after our fans are listening and laughing. Thank you, Justin.
Our title of our pod is called Origin. This is the origin of our pod, and we need to hear about the origin of your fandom as a nerd. Get the listeners to hear a little bit about you, Thane. I want to hear how you became a nerd. Give me the elevator pitch.
[00:07:06] Speaker C: Wow. Well, I feel like there's a. There's a moment in time when we're.
[00:07:16] Speaker B: On the second floor.
[00:07:17] Speaker A: Mine is so much epic than this from.
[00:07:19] Speaker C: From the normal crowd. And so what was the thing that kind of, like, I think, separated me? I realized Land parties.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:07:31] Speaker D: Oh, yes.
[00:07:32] Speaker B: Okay, fill me in. I don't know.
[00:07:33] Speaker C: It's. It's basically where you get a whole bunch of people together, you connect systems or PCs, and you all play the same game. Tons of people. And the gameplay and Thane's game of.
[00:07:44] Speaker D: Choice was right in the nostalgia right now.
[00:07:46] Speaker A: What was Thane's game of choice?
[00:07:49] Speaker C: Well, I think we kind of started with, like, Mario Kart. N64.
We'd rent N64s from the local video.
[00:08:00] Speaker B: Store to bring home Hollywood video. Maybe Game Bus or Blockbuster Block. Leaster.
[00:08:06] Speaker C: Not on the island where I grew up, but Sick Flex.
But then it turned Halo for sure, so.
[00:08:14] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Oh, getting on the mongoose, buddy. Nothing better than getting on a Mongoose and Halo.
[00:08:20] Speaker C: So.
[00:08:20] Speaker A: Just made me feel older, I think.
[00:08:22] Speaker C: Yeah, that was probably the separator.
[00:08:25] Speaker B: Thank you. That's a. I just feel great. That put a smile on my Face.
[00:08:30] Speaker E: You were a jock before then, but then you. You changed your ways.
[00:08:33] Speaker B: Really? You were the jock?
[00:08:35] Speaker C: Well, yes, but it's a fight.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: What sport?
[00:08:39] Speaker C: No, listen, though. I graduated from a high school with four.
[00:08:42] Speaker B: Seven.
[00:08:42] Speaker C: Four people were in my graduating class, so.
[00:08:45] Speaker B: Whoa, dude, you were a starter?
[00:08:47] Speaker C: I was. I was valedictorian.
[00:08:49] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. But also worst of your class at the same time.
[00:08:54] Speaker D: What sport were you the starter at here? What sports?
[00:08:58] Speaker C: Basketball and flag football.
[00:08:59] Speaker D: So flag football. There you go.
[00:09:01] Speaker C: That's how, you know, hey, flag football.
[00:09:03] Speaker D: Is literally an Olympics part now. So.
[00:09:06] Speaker C: Hey, you.
[00:09:07] Speaker D: You could have been an Olympian.
[00:09:09] Speaker B: You were the original.
[00:09:10] Speaker D: It's not even too late. I don't even know if they've started trials on that yet.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: No, we have a team. They have a team picked out for America.
[00:09:16] Speaker D: I mean. Yeah, we're gonna be like Mahomes and stuff.
[00:09:18] Speaker B: Anthony, start us on your nerdom. Give us your origin. Try not to X Men origin this. Okay, well, shoot.
[00:09:26] Speaker A: That just stole my thunder there.
[00:09:28] Speaker B: Damn it.
[00:09:29] Speaker A: So I started. Yeah. Probably earliest I remember is either. Yeah. The animated Superman. 1978. Superman X Men, the TV show. The original one went over to. I watched Stargate SG1.
Yeah.
[00:09:47] Speaker D: Stargator. Yeah.
[00:09:49] Speaker A: A little bit of Star Wars. And then I really started deep diving. I probably played Knights of the Old Republic, and then that really branched me off into.
What is it called? Star Wars Legends now.
Played Halo. And then I kind of went more of a video game route than a TV movie. And it's.
[00:10:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Anthony just sends me, like, video game. Like, like cut scenes.
[00:10:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:14] Speaker B: So it's like, did you see it from this one Star wars movie in 1987 when it was on a PS1? I'm like, they had a PS1 just started at three.
[00:10:23] Speaker A: Yeah. So I went Halo, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, all that stuff.
[00:10:27] Speaker D: Mass Effect. Have you ever seen the memes?
There was one where they were doing, like, that old commercial with, like, the glass, the blurry vision context. And he's like, your contacts have come in. Oh, but I have special eyes. And his eyes are, like, bulging with, like, the mass effect graphics.
[00:10:49] Speaker B: My bad.
[00:10:51] Speaker D: You guys gotta look this up. I know. I'm explaining it. Everyone's like, what is he talking?
[00:10:55] Speaker B: No, our listeners are laughing. Hold on. Give him a second.
Should you hear it?
[00:11:00] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:11:00] Speaker B: They were left. No, wait. Give us a second for laughter.
[00:11:03] Speaker D: I'm unbelievable.
[00:11:05] Speaker C: Shout out. Mass Effect. That's a great game.
[00:11:07] Speaker D: That is.
[00:11:08] Speaker A: I appreciate that thing. Yep. Thank you.
[00:11:09] Speaker C: There's a thing in it in the second. Massive.
[00:11:11] Speaker B: Wow.
I Had I had to wait till How I forget your. Or how I met your mother to meet a marshal.
[00:11:19] Speaker A: I'll show you his trailer, Marshall.
[00:11:21] Speaker D: Oh, well, thank you, trailer.
It's amazing if you played what, Bioshock Infinite. There's a. There's a duet. There's a duet.
[00:11:33] Speaker A: There.
[00:11:34] Speaker B: Yeah, that. That hits the vibes right there. Kyle, can you hit us with your Origin of a Fan? And by the way, I. I think I know where it's going, but I'm not gonna spoil.
[00:11:44] Speaker E: Do you know where it's going?
Back in the day when I lived in the city, in the neighborhood and times were different and all the kids, like, were outside in the neighborhood and we're playing with each other in the streets. We were all playing Power Rangers. Okay. Everybody in the neighborhood was power ranged and I was ordained Ranger man. It was very. If you knew, even at that young age when I was six maybe that, you know, this. This kind of plotted my course because from. From then it was very clear everybody got to pick their ranger.
I was assigned every single time I was Billy. I was a Blue Ranger every time from the OG Power Rangers. I was the nerdy one because I had these big glasses and I was the dorkiest kid on the block and.
[00:12:37] Speaker B: Was that a cough?
[00:12:39] Speaker E: So, yeah. So I had to be the nerdy character from. It wasn't really my choice. It was just. And Kyle's gonna be Billy.
And I just had to be happy with that. I was happy with such a jerk.
[00:12:51] Speaker D: There's like some core wounds here.
[00:12:54] Speaker E: Ever since then, I was never the cool guy, you know, I was the Billy character, you know.
[00:13:01] Speaker B: What's that mean about your childhood?
[00:13:03] Speaker E: I don't know. I don't know what to take away from that, but how did that make you feel?
[00:13:07] Speaker B: No, it sounds like you were really.
[00:13:08] Speaker E: Upset, but we do. We do. In my childhood, we really. We really embraced it and did some of them. I feel like some of the more nerdy things that you can do.
[00:13:16] Speaker B: This is peak, Kyle. Go ahead.
[00:13:19] Speaker E: Remade the whole Lord of the Rings.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: This was.
[00:13:21] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:13:21] Speaker A: This is like one of the things. First things I found out about you and you became like epic status.
[00:13:27] Speaker E: It took seven years Lord of the Nerds, seven years to make.
[00:13:31] Speaker A: That's exactly right.
[00:13:32] Speaker E: Filmed the whole thing with me and three other siblings and play. I played Gandalf and Aragorn and Mary.
[00:13:41] Speaker A: There's a big shoes to fill.
[00:13:42] Speaker E: Yeah. A few other other characters. Butterbur, etc. But it's a big production.
[00:13:48] Speaker B: Who was Lady Galadriel?
[00:13:50] Speaker E: Galadriel was Emily.
[00:13:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:52] Speaker E: My. My younger sister.
[00:13:53] Speaker A: Who's your favorite to play?
[00:13:55] Speaker E: Let's see. Gandalf was great to play. I grant this. Great.
Definitely super fun. I always wanted. I was looking forward to all my cool Aragorn scenes.
[00:14:05] Speaker B: But.
[00:14:06] Speaker E: But I was just such like a dorky teenager that every single one of them is so cringy.
Are fun.
[00:14:13] Speaker A: Let's be honest. Nobody can pull off Aragorn.
[00:14:16] Speaker E: I couldn't pull it off. I was so excited. I had like my Ranger costume and I'm going to go like snuff out this candle with my fingers and you know, and I've got all these cool lines with the sword and everything. Like, you know, I'm the tough guy. But no, I couldn't pull it off now just. I cringe anytime I see the game. The Aragorn style scenes.
[00:14:33] Speaker A: No, I can understand that.
[00:14:34] Speaker B: They hurt.
[00:14:35] Speaker A: I can understand that.
[00:14:37] Speaker C: Just to clarify, this is. You remade like scene for scene. The whole thing. This is not like parts of it.
[00:14:44] Speaker B: You didn't just do the fun scenes where they cut the finger off.
Wait, are we allowed to spoil the end of Lord of the Rings? Yes.
[00:14:51] Speaker E: No, no, no. We. We did the whole thing. We did the whole entire movie. Just as long as was Mount Doom.
[00:14:56] Speaker B: Cascades Hill or something.
[00:14:57] Speaker E: No, no, this is not. It's all on the farm where we grew up. What did we know? There's no Mount Doom in the Fellowship of the Ring.
[00:15:04] Speaker A: Back when people had more attention span.
[00:15:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:06] Speaker E: Have you seen the movie?
[00:15:07] Speaker B: I didn't know it was just Fellowship of the Ring. I was.
[00:15:09] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:15:09] Speaker D: Fellowship.
[00:15:10] Speaker B: Whoa. I actually did homework for this pod. Contrary to Kyle.
Stupid cardigan unbuttoned.
[00:15:16] Speaker D: Doom is in it. But it's like not.
[00:15:18] Speaker B: Yeah, it's in the beginning of the movie.
[00:15:20] Speaker D: It is. It is in the beginning of the movie.
[00:15:26] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:15:26] Speaker E: It was my lava lamp in my bedroom.
[00:15:31] Speaker A: Points of creativity. That's.
[00:15:32] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:15:33] Speaker B: Which is sweet, you guys.
[00:15:35] Speaker D: So you didn't do two towers or anything?
[00:15:38] Speaker E: We always thought we would.
[00:15:40] Speaker D: I would have loved to have seen Helms.
[00:15:42] Speaker E: I was kind of graduating and moving out, starting adult life.
[00:15:45] Speaker B: Just hearing the tink of the first raindrop.
[00:15:48] Speaker E: Built Helms deep in the barn when it was hay season. We brought in the hay bales. We built whole homes deep. There was like almost a scale with the walls. And we even had. We had a big drawbridge. There was like 10.
[00:15:58] Speaker D: What are we doing everything right now. We need to go watch this movie.
[00:16:04] Speaker B: No, I'm just kidding. It's not the end of the pod. Yet guys, that I. I appreciate you. And cheers to you, my friend. Ian, can we hear about your fandom? How it began?
[00:16:12] Speaker D: Yeah, so it kind of started with. As a wee babe, I. When I was in, you know, like, elementary school, I got really into, as most people, my first. I never got a gaming console. That never happened in our household.
[00:16:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I had to buy my own.
[00:16:28] Speaker D: We never. We never were allowed to. But they did buy us. They bought me because they bought me a Game Boy color. So that was, like, the first, like, gaming thing I had.
And I had one of the OG, like, green brick things, too. But then eventually I got, like, the Game Boy color, and I got. My first ever, like, game was Pokemon Blue, and I loved that Blastoise all the way. I'm like a Gen 1 guy.
[00:16:55] Speaker B: Team Charizard.
[00:16:56] Speaker D: Charizard. Equally as good. There's only one you don't. No one starts with Ivysaur. Like, Bulbasaur Bulba.
[00:17:03] Speaker B: Get out of here.
[00:17:04] Speaker D: Get out of here. So I'm not a big, big.
[00:17:06] Speaker E: That.
[00:17:07] Speaker D: But that was, like, my first, like, foray into, like, the nerdy stuff. And then that kind of, like, you know, even in, like, elementary school, middle school was like, you know, I'd go home.
[00:17:16] Speaker B: You'd catch them all.
[00:17:17] Speaker D: Oh, I watch Pokemon. And I would watch, like, Yu Gi.
[00:17:22] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:17:23] Speaker D: And eventually I got, like, really?
[00:17:24] Speaker A: I was wondering what the next step.
[00:17:25] Speaker D: After I got really into, like.
[00:17:28] Speaker C: What's that? Beyblade.
[00:17:29] Speaker D: I never got into Beyblades.
[00:17:30] Speaker B: Oh, he was a Digimon.
[00:17:32] Speaker D: No, not Digimon. Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball Z.
[00:17:35] Speaker B: Find out next week on Make It Nerdy.
[00:17:39] Speaker D: Still making the. The energy spirit bomb.
[00:17:42] Speaker E: Digimon. Digimon had a better song, so there.
[00:17:45] Speaker D: Digimon Digital Monsters.
[00:17:47] Speaker E: Digimon are the champions.
[00:17:48] Speaker C: Yeah, I think.
[00:17:50] Speaker B: No, get over yourself. Pokemon.
[00:17:52] Speaker D: The theme song for Pokemon.
[00:17:55] Speaker B: Oh, it hits that guitar Rift. I'm, like, ripping my shirt off in the living room.
[00:18:00] Speaker D: And just, like, when you're playing the game.
[00:18:04] Speaker B: Yeah, the games are great. There's nothing better than the background music of, like, just strolling through some meadow. You find a pidgeot.
[00:18:14] Speaker D: With, like, Pidgeotta.
[00:18:16] Speaker B: Yeah, with.
[00:18:18] Speaker D: When you get so. With Yu Gi. Oh, I got, like, really into the card game, and I never really got into Magic the Gathering, but I got really big into Yu Gi.
[00:18:27] Speaker B: Oh, we are really hitting all. If somebody is looking for a nerdy podcast and they're like, I don't think I've heard it yet. What are you doing? There's. We've hit every corner of the map.
[00:18:37] Speaker D: But when Thane was mentioning land parties, like high school is when I got into Starcraft 2. Original Starcraft. So. And like Warcraft, not like World of Warcraft.
[00:18:52] Speaker A: Yep. I played.
[00:18:53] Speaker D: So playing those through, like just.
[00:18:55] Speaker B: Yes, my lord.
[00:18:56] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah.
[00:18:57] Speaker D: Age of Empires too. Like, oh, my gosh. So I would play those and then we would go over to one of our friend's house and we would like play Starcraft. It was legit. That eventually led me.
[00:19:13] Speaker A: Did you play play.
[00:19:15] Speaker D: So I was. I liked Protoss.
[00:19:17] Speaker A: Protoss. Yeah, that was mine.
[00:19:18] Speaker D: But you can't go wrong with Zerg. Just like.
[00:19:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:25] Speaker B: Seven people listening to this that know that are like, oh my gosh.
[00:19:30] Speaker D: You click on like the Overlord.
Just the greatest thing.
[00:19:36] Speaker B: I'm so proud of you.
[00:19:37] Speaker D: But then eventually that you do a.
[00:19:38] Speaker A: Protoss voice because they had some sw.
[00:19:40] Speaker D: They have. Oh, man. I'm trying to like, they were my.
[00:19:43] Speaker A: Life for my life for ir.
[00:19:46] Speaker D: Like, stuff like that.
[00:19:47] Speaker A: It's got to be Ian doing the line.
[00:19:50] Speaker D: But then that like got me into like World of Warcraft. Like, that was. That was out of all my nerdiness. That was the nerdiness that.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: It's a revelation of yours.
[00:19:59] Speaker D: That became like quite like a large portion. Because I played World of Warcraft for a long time.
[00:20:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:20:04] Speaker A: You got to go in or like the moment. The moment I stayed out.
[00:20:08] Speaker D: I started on purpose. I made a lot of friends, like online playing this game. I mean, you would raid with these people that I've never met, but you would like, see them or like hear them on a very regular basis. So like getting on ventrilo back then and writing with all of them. I. I think the last time I played World of Warcraft was like two months ago. So like, that just tells you I was.
[00:20:29] Speaker B: You're amazing. You're an inspiration.
[00:20:31] Speaker C: The only MMO I played was Guild Wars. I played Guild Wars.
[00:20:34] Speaker D: I. So I tried Guild Wars. I never really could. And runescape. I've tried those.
[00:20:37] Speaker A: The Old Republic. That's the only one I tried the old.
[00:20:40] Speaker D: I think that one's still going too.
[00:20:41] Speaker A: It is, it is.
[00:20:42] Speaker D: So. But it just.
[00:20:44] Speaker A: Kyle and Marshall are going. What?
[00:20:45] Speaker B: I love it.
[00:20:46] Speaker A: Who are we hanging?
[00:20:46] Speaker D: And then this of course led to like, what I d. Like what I deem so Marshall.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: The nerdy music Republic.
[00:20:55] Speaker D: So like Base Hunter would have like just like classic 90s early 2000s techno and it had like Dota music going on and everything.
[00:21:06] Speaker B: That's why you like Tron with.
[00:21:09] Speaker D: And I did play League of Legends for a hot stint there too.
[00:21:12] Speaker B: So I respect it. My nerd dumb.
[00:21:14] Speaker D: I was going to say. What about you?
[00:21:15] Speaker A: That one had some sweet trailers.
[00:21:16] Speaker B: Yeah, my nerd dumb began for a couple things. Getting illegal pay per views retroactively. I cannot be cancelled for this of wwe. As a child, the cable guy would come by somebody slipping 20. All of a sudden we got four months of pay per views at WWE.
[00:21:31] Speaker A: So statute of limitations, pretty awesome.
[00:21:33] Speaker B: Pretty awesome watching somebody get thrown off a ladder. And yeah, that was my beginning nerdom. But some say I'm gonna have a visual audio for a podcast that the listeners can't hear. But I will explain after. Some say that you either start as a hero or you become a villain.
And for those of you that thought that I was Batman, I was not. I was always the Riddler. I'm show other guys on here my origin story of being the Riddler. Or when I had a speech impediment, I would call myself the Liver.
I really.
[00:22:08] Speaker D: Jim Carrey.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: And I will say that he's my favorite. My favorite villain of all. And I feel like he never got the proper shine that he got that he needed from what the comics were until the most recent movie, which really wasn't. I mean, anything's better than Jim Carrey. Even though Jim Carrey is great and most of you that don't know Ian, he literally is our Jim Carrey. Like, in our friend group. It like.
[00:22:40] Speaker A: Did you ever see anything.
[00:22:41] Speaker B: We're going to the senile portion in the future.
[00:22:43] Speaker A: Did you ever see anything with the Arkham game, Riddler? Was that. Was that pretty okay? I was not a hero of mine.
[00:22:51] Speaker B: He just. He hits every nostalgic note for me. And that green suit just hits for me, too. That. It's just something about it. And I've always loved superhero movies. I am the person who's probably watched all of the movies of mcu, of dcu, of. I've seen them the opening weekend. Even the ones that, like, other people are like, I'm passing on that one. It's kind of Shazam. I'm like, all right, I got to do it.
[00:23:15] Speaker D: You're not only there, but you're coming out with like an 8.5 rating. And when everybody else is coming out.
[00:23:22] Speaker B: Friday night, Friday night, whatever. Batman. Batman could literally poop on a stage for three and a half hours.
It's a 7.9 for me, guys. I gotta. I gotta. Gotta go see it. But that's our origins for why we became fans. And we're gonna. We're gonna position.
[00:23:40] Speaker E: Can I Share something before the. Before the next second.
[00:23:43] Speaker B: Go ahead.
[00:23:43] Speaker E: We're talking a little about origins. I got some kids. I got kids who are.
[00:23:48] Speaker D: Are they hitting their origin story?
[00:23:50] Speaker E: They're kind of hitting their origin. And I want to tell you a little bit about my morning. I've got an eight year old boy.
[00:23:55] Speaker A: My son's got you beat.
[00:23:56] Speaker E: Yeah.
I've got an eight year old boy who's getting into Star Wars. All right.
[00:24:02] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:24:03] Speaker E: I'm trying to work this morning. My wife's at the gym. I'm waiting for her to get back so I can go to the office. And it's just me working in the living room, trying to power through some assignments and my son on the couch talking about Star wars the entire time.
[00:24:23] Speaker B: He's amazing.
[00:24:24] Speaker E: I decided I'm just gonna write down every question he asks me and I'm gonna read you guys every question that he asked. Thank you.
[00:24:33] Speaker B: We might skip the origin.
[00:24:36] Speaker E: You don't have to answer them. But keep in mind this is about 20% of what he said over that. Most of the time. He was telling me about all the planets and about all the characters I've never heard of. This is my oldest son. He's eight years old. And I'm going to share with you.
[00:24:55] Speaker B: His name is Ezekiel for those of you out there.
[00:24:57] Speaker E: Okay, from the top.
Sebastian asked me. Have you What?
[00:25:03] Speaker B: Who's that?
[00:25:04] Speaker E: He asked me. All right, you want to hear the questions?
[00:25:07] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah.
[00:25:08] Speaker E: Here we go. Have you heard of Darth Bane? Do you know who Darth Plagueis is?
[00:25:12] Speaker A: I do.
[00:25:12] Speaker E: How many Rey movies are there? Was Maul alive when Rey was. Would you count Maul as a cyborg? Did someone teach him to use lightsabers before or after he was a cyborg? What if Darth Maul didn't die in that one and went into those unknown Regions or all the way into a different galaxy? What if he flew to our galaxy? Darth Maul is only in one movie, right? Is the Han Solo movie between the Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope? Remember when in A New Hope they traded R2's feet for the red droids? Droids feet. Did you watch the new movie of Ahsoka? Why can't they go back in time and make another movie where Qui Gon is being trained? Do you know if anacond trained conundras? Have you ever heard of Ezra in Star Wars? Why does Han Solo's ship look like this in this picture? Do you know how many Padawans Anakin had? Do you know if Darth Bane was alive at the battle of the Temple of Melkar. Do you know Savage Operas? Darth Maul's brother who was in the Han Solo movie.
[00:26:09] Speaker A: He's in the Clone.
[00:26:10] Speaker E: Is this book Fatal alliance about Darth Bane? What is this book about? Dude, did you read these other books? The smaller ones? Does the Darksaber come in and out like other lightsabers? What's the other chancellor here on this book cover next to La Valorum? How many people have Darth Sidious killed? Do you know who else Darth Sidious killed? Did Rey actually kill her grandfather? Was Leia technically a Jedi? What if Finn was a force sensitive? Do you know any Jedi's names in the books you re. You read any ones that I don't know? What is this book about? A book called Riptide. Do you think I'd be old enough to read those Star wars books we have?
And that again is a fraction of the words he spoke because he went on for an hour without taking a breath, hardly. While I'm trying to work, Senator to my house, looking up occasionally and saying, I don't. I don't. What? What was the question?
[00:27:00] Speaker B: We're in a trap.
[00:27:01] Speaker E: I don't know who Ezra is or the Darth Bane or who Savage Operas is.
[00:27:06] Speaker B: Can I say this? We're in an alternate reality where actually Anthony's son is asking him about like Revin, you know, who is like the greatest linebacker that you've ever had in the NFC west. And like why is the AFC West?
Like he's asking all the football questions to Anthony. That Anthony. Just like I think they have helmets and like this kid.
[00:27:31] Speaker A: Exactly right.
[00:27:32] Speaker B: Anthony wishes his son was doing what your son is.
[00:27:35] Speaker A: That's right. Yeah.
[00:27:37] Speaker B: What an inspiration.
[00:27:38] Speaker E: I know, I know. It's great. It's really fun.
[00:27:42] Speaker D: A lot.
[00:27:42] Speaker B: He's our first listener. I bet.
[00:27:44] Speaker E: And then, and then it kind of keeps going.
[00:27:46] Speaker A: Yeah, the questions. Yeah, they get. They get old.
[00:27:50] Speaker E: Hey, hey, that's having an eight year old boy there. They can be very one track minded. And he will just keep talking all day long. Our oldest never get tired of it.
[00:27:58] Speaker D: Daughter for the longest time kept calling Spider Man Batman.
[00:28:04] Speaker B: Did that hurt your soul?
[00:28:06] Speaker D: Well, the only reason she did it was because somebody at her school was saying like, this is my favorite like superhero. And they were showing like a picture of Spider man and they were saying something about they was a bad man.
She was getting them crossword.
[00:28:21] Speaker B: We eventually Superman.
[00:28:22] Speaker D: Don't worry, I fixed it. I was like, no, that's Batman. So we had, like, Batman plates.
[00:28:28] Speaker B: You had, like, a PowerPoint.
[00:28:29] Speaker E: Time out.
[00:28:32] Speaker D: You do not get my two favorites superheroes mixed up. Yeah, that just doesn't happen.
[00:28:36] Speaker B: Go to your room. We'll talk about this later. Go to your room.
Well, origins is the theme, and we're gonna hit the origin pretty hard. To start, we talked about our personal origin. We're gonna go. And we're just rapid fire. I want to hear. And you. I told Thane elevator. I want you to give me the half elevator. As to why this origin story is the best of all. I'm gonna kick us off, guys. I'm kicking us off. All right, Mr. Freeze. I'm not talking about the movie. Okay? Get Arnold out of your head. But just the simple. I. I love villains. If that's going to kind of be a theme you're going to hear from me throughout our time doing the pod. A good movie has a good hero. A great movie has a good hero and a good villain. That's the difference. And how a villain is created is very poetic. I love the psychology behind it. And for me, the tragic story of trying to save your terminally ill wife only to become the villain, trying to find the cure for her is very poetic. It's. It's something that I feel like they have not hit fully because Arnold just took away from what the true character is, that his character makes me want to root for the villain. That's how you know a villain is good is if you're rooting for them throughout the movie. Like, actually, I kind of am. Okay. If Batman doesn't win this one.
So that's my number one origin, and it's not close to me.
[00:30:02] Speaker D: Do you know who, at least in modern movies, has been a villain that has been written very well in the way that you're talking? Go ahead, killmonger.
[00:30:12] Speaker B: That's. He's my favorite.
[00:30:15] Speaker D: He's the. When you were saying about that I was, like, one of the best villains that they wrote in a way where you can, like, relate to, like, his plight, like, where he was.
[00:30:23] Speaker A: I get it.
[00:30:24] Speaker D: I was like, yeah, that's good. That writing a good villain is hard because a lot of the times they just want to go, like, the Joker route and be all, like, they're psychotic and then they're insane. And it's like, that works.
[00:30:37] Speaker B: Like, once there's a gallery of villains, there's not a gallery of heroes for a villain. There's a reason they run through villains, and it's not the other way around. Right. Scarecrow doesn't go around and fight Superman and Batman and, you know, Wonder Woman, he gets his butt kicked consistently by the same guy who gets gas sprayed in his face.
[00:30:58] Speaker D: Do you want to know?
[00:31:01] Speaker B: That was a pause for them to laugh as well.
[00:31:03] Speaker D: I'm gonna transition to my favorite origin story because this is one. Maybe the villain isn't as phenomenal as some of the other ones, but I do think even with modern mcu, like, superhero movies, I still think this particular villain ranks pretty high. So high that they brought him back. But my favorite origin story is the Original Spider Man 2001 with Toby Maguire and William Dafoe with Green Goblin.
[00:31:33] Speaker B: You're signed up for two minutes of pain with me.
[00:31:38] Speaker D: What's your name? Was it Spider Boy?
[00:31:41] Speaker B: Spider Boy.
[00:31:42] Speaker E: Spider. Spider Boy.
[00:31:43] Speaker D: Spider Boy. That sucks.
[00:31:47] Speaker B: The BO saw.
It's a great one.
[00:31:54] Speaker E: Get him in the cage.
[00:31:55] Speaker B: I hate to see how that's my problem. It's a great movie.
[00:31:58] Speaker D: Great movie to me. That movie holds up still, by the way.
[00:32:03] Speaker B: Agreed.
[00:32:04] Speaker D: It's very rewatchable. And I just to this day. Tom Holland's a good Spider Man. I'm not taking anything from Tom Holland, but Toby Maguire as Peter Parker is the best Peter Parker.
[00:32:19] Speaker E: I'm with you.
[00:32:20] Speaker A: I disagree.
[00:32:21] Speaker D: I think he is. I think he encapsulates, like, the, like, what Peter Parker was to me fully then. I would, on the flip side, say the best Spider man was Andrew Garfield.
Now, Tom Holland does a good job of, like, finding, like, a pretty good, like, balance between the two, so he, like, works really well as, like, that younger version of Spider Man. But I just. There's something like, when I watch the original, like, Spider man, it's just like, it's the comics. That's my screen.
[00:32:53] Speaker A: You're like, that's my guy.
[00:32:54] Speaker D: It's just, like, exactly like. It's got all the right beats. They didn't do anything different. It's just there it is. Because Kirsten Dunst worked for me as mj, too.
[00:33:03] Speaker B: Guys, in. In down the road, William Defoe's Green.
[00:33:07] Speaker D: Goblin was so good.
[00:33:09] Speaker A: He was good.
[00:33:10] Speaker D: So good.
[00:33:10] Speaker B: Down the line, I could see this being an entire episode of debating solely Spider Man.
And I could get behind it. I could get behind that, guys, because I actually think I have a better Spider Man. And it's animated Spider man. Oh, the TV show.
[00:33:26] Speaker D: Simmons. J.K. simmons. The goat. Just so good.
[00:33:31] Speaker B: Spider Man.
[00:33:32] Speaker D: Just loved him. Loved him in.
[00:33:34] Speaker B: That sounded exactly like yourself, just saying Spider Man. I love it. Listen, I love it. Anthony, how about you? Best origin? You have to Pick one.
[00:33:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
I don't have anything as cool as.
[00:33:47] Speaker B: You haven't failed this segment, by the way.
You have not failed this segment.
[00:33:51] Speaker A: Failed this segment. So I was going between the adventures of. Sorry. Lois and Clark, the adventures of Superman, but I went with Arrow with Stephen Amell first. That first season, the idea of, you know, kind of a.
What do you want to call him? A prick, Basically turning into facts. You know, going through hell on an island and coming out as a weapon.
Kind of wish they went more than one season with him killing people, because I thought that was really.
I mean, I know he's dark.
[00:34:23] Speaker B: It's dc, baby.
[00:34:24] Speaker A: But, I mean, he's shooting arrows at people. Like, it starts getting a little unbelievable when you start going, oh, no, no, no. That was. That was a shoulder shot, but he's still down for the count.
So that, like, you know, it started getting a little. But of course, season two, you know, had that stroke, and that was.
[00:34:41] Speaker B: That was.
[00:34:41] Speaker A: But season one, the introduction of Arrow, I mean, that first episode, he's, you know, taken prisoner, and Tommy gets knocked out, and he takes out, what, three, four guys.
[00:34:52] Speaker B: The back and forth. I felt like I've never seen that in a show before, and it was beautiful.
[00:34:57] Speaker A: And, you know, every episode that concentrated more on the island, I wish we concentrated more on the city.
[00:35:04] Speaker C: And then.
[00:35:04] Speaker B: You're in the city. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
[00:35:06] Speaker A: I want to see what's going on on the island.
So that was. Yeah, that's. That's why I ended up picking.
[00:35:12] Speaker D: That's a good one.
[00:35:13] Speaker B: Figured that would have been Thanes with the island. No, he is an island boy.
[00:35:17] Speaker C: Different island.
[00:35:18] Speaker D: Island boy.
[00:35:20] Speaker C: Oh, gosh.
[00:35:22] Speaker B: Thane, hit us with yours. Best origin. Not even question. Yeah, sell us.
[00:35:28] Speaker C: I went with Batman Begins. Christian Bale, the start of.
[00:35:33] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:35:34] Speaker C: Amazing.
[00:35:34] Speaker B: The voice.
[00:35:35] Speaker C: I can't do the voice, but Ian's got that.
[00:35:39] Speaker A: We got Ian for that.
[00:35:42] Speaker C: It's amazing. The cast in this movie is incredible.
Christian Bale, Katie Holmes. I mean, all right, but Liam Neeson, Michael Caine.
[00:35:55] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:35:55] Speaker C: Morgan Freeman, Michael Kay, Gary Michael Kane. Like, Killian Murphy. Yeah, very good.
[00:36:04] Speaker A: It was a great. It was a great cast. And, yeah, his or his origin in that one was very. I thought.
[00:36:09] Speaker C: I love a hero that has to touch, almost touch the darkness. Like. Like be very close to becoming the thing that he's ultimately trying to destroy.
[00:36:20] Speaker A: When he was in that foreign prison, like, that was just.
[00:36:23] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:36:24] Speaker C: And it's just a. It's. I love it. It's so rewatchable, and it just sets it up perfectly for. And Christopher Nolan directs it. I mean, guy's incredible. Yeah, I love everything he does, but yeah, I love.
[00:36:38] Speaker B: It's a great one.
[00:36:39] Speaker D: Did you guys know.
[00:36:40] Speaker A: Oh boy, oh boy.
[00:36:41] Speaker D: That the boy.
[00:36:43] Speaker C: Oh, yes. This was a fun fact.
[00:36:45] Speaker D: Yeah, that the boy. That he gives like the. What is it? Like the, like the grappling hook thing. Gun, whatever. He gives that to King Joffrey from Game of Thrones.
[00:36:58] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:36:58] Speaker C: Same kid, Jack Lehman Lehrman.
[00:37:00] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:37:01] Speaker B: That's amazing. You re.
[00:37:03] Speaker D: Watch it. You'll see his face. You'll be like, oh. Oh my gosh.
[00:37:05] Speaker A: This is why you don't give kids grappling hooks.
[00:37:07] Speaker D: Yeah, it's fair.
[00:37:10] Speaker B: It's fair. Kyle, can you hit us with the number one origin for you? And by the way, if it's a hobbit, I'm okay with it. The.
[00:37:18] Speaker E: Oh, wow. The hobbit.
[00:37:20] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:37:21] Speaker E: Yeah, you're taking me. I struggled with this question a little bit and I confess.
They install mine.
So I was going to. I was going to praise what happens.
[00:37:31] Speaker D: When you don't write a Batman movie.
[00:37:32] Speaker A: Batman begins with my backup.
[00:37:34] Speaker E: So, yeah, it's really good.
[00:37:36] Speaker B: Do you believe that that same Batman had a spray that got sharks away from him when it was Adam West?
[00:37:42] Speaker E: What?
[00:37:43] Speaker B: Adam West. He had like a anti shark spray when he was Batman.
[00:37:46] Speaker A: I didn't know that until Lego Batman.
[00:37:49] Speaker D: Lego Batman.
[00:37:50] Speaker E: Yeah. Yeah, those are. Oh my gosh.
[00:37:52] Speaker A: That's a great origin right there.
[00:37:56] Speaker E: Yeah. I don't know. I like that. Batman movie is really good and everything about it, it's kind of like this sort of believable journey. Like, I like when it feels like this character, the. The development they go through this journey to become, you know, superhuman is. Is what is something you could buy. You know, I always think of like whatever the end of the Falcon and the Winter Soldier when it looks like Anthony Mackie basically spends an afternoon chucking a shield around and suddenly he's like, got it down. Like it's pretty easy, you know?
[00:38:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:31] Speaker E: But I like the. The Christian Bale's character goes through the real torment to become this.
[00:38:37] Speaker B: What are all those bloody push ups.
[00:38:38] Speaker E: For coming back and you buy it? You know, you can get a bloody log. You know, I'll get. I'll get a lot of feels from like OG X Men trilogy. Like that, that origin.
I like how world reign is introduced. I like Introduction to the X Men and some of those characters.
Like it's not like it's the. I don't think it's like the really the quintessential best origin story, particularly. But it's one of those, like, as far as superhero movies go, that's like, that's why. Oh, I'm in. I'm into this. This is great. Everything about it is special with the best theme song. Yeah. Maybe the Magneto character is like another really good. Really compelling.
[00:39:17] Speaker A: Is incredible.
[00:39:18] Speaker E: Really, like, good. I mean, of course, here I am at reference referencing another Ian McKellen character in my bit, so I'm gonna. Maybe I'll just do that every time. I'll just reference an Ian.
[00:39:25] Speaker D: You get some. You get some leeway, though, because when we were talking about well written villains. That is a great, well written villain.
[00:39:33] Speaker A: Very, very well written one.
[00:39:35] Speaker D: Very up there.
[00:39:36] Speaker A: I don't even like villains. And I was ruined for Magneto at some points.
[00:39:39] Speaker E: Yeah, there you go.
[00:39:40] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:39:41] Speaker E: Thank you.
[00:39:41] Speaker A: I stay away from villains and Magneto.
[00:39:44] Speaker B: Good job for not being prepared.
[00:39:45] Speaker D: I'm actually. Do we have any honorable mentions here? Because there's a couple big missing.
[00:39:51] Speaker B: I said Charlie Cox, Daredevil.
[00:39:53] Speaker D: I saw that was what you originally had, and I liked that one.
[00:39:55] Speaker B: Yeah, I just kind of got away from it. I think we're gonna give some updates about current shows that I wanted to maybe highlight that, but I just like the idea of talking about villains more to me, so that's why I changed mine. But he's a good honorable mention for me. That was a very good Thane. Did you have an extra one you would throw in?
[00:40:12] Speaker C: It was. I. I was very much considering Iron man just the first time.
[00:40:17] Speaker B: Totally.
[00:40:17] Speaker D: I was surprised. No one actually put that.
[00:40:19] Speaker B: I was surprised too.
[00:40:21] Speaker C: I mean, that's.
[00:40:22] Speaker A: I think everybody thought was too, too cliche. I don't know.
[00:40:25] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:40:26] Speaker B: So it's big Batman.
[00:40:27] Speaker D: I. I'm gonna say.
I will say, I think in terms of, like, the movie being one of the best origin movies. Guardians of the Galaxy.
[00:40:39] Speaker A: I thought about that.
[00:40:40] Speaker D: Oh, that sure was like, just a really good, flat out movie. All the Guardians movies are really easily re watchable also.
[00:40:49] Speaker B: You get a. Like an origin scene in every mov. New characters. And you get a new origin for Groot every movie.
[00:40:57] Speaker D: It's so hard to like, have like a group origin story like that. Like, because X Men did a very good job. I think, like, the original X Men did it, like, the movie did a pretty good job.
[00:41:09] Speaker A: Origins, I thought they focused. Wolverine was my favorite. First class, I thought they focused. No, first class was perfect. But the first one, the first one I thought concentrate too much on Wolverine. Like every single X movie was a Wolverine story. And he is my favorite. My favorite.
[00:41:27] Speaker D: I mean, that's.
[00:41:29] Speaker B: Ryan Reynolds said, as Deadpool, you were the X Man.
And he was right.
[00:41:34] Speaker D: He's what kind of kept the thing kind of moving, but huge Ackman, in terms of, like, how hard it is to write those kinds of movies as, like, an origin because you're trying to introduce all these different characters. Like, yeah, look like you don't need to look any further than, like, how bad Eternals was. I was just gonna say, like, Eternals was atrocious.
[00:41:52] Speaker E: Textbook. Doing it all.
[00:41:53] Speaker D: Justice League. Justice League tried to rush.
I. I'm not gonna. I actually don't think the Snyder cut was that much better.
[00:42:03] Speaker A: I don't think it's fully redeemed from the Snyder cut. If you have to do a 4. How long were we watching that?
[00:42:09] Speaker D: Pretty long.
[00:42:09] Speaker B: It's a good night.
[00:42:10] Speaker A: That was.
[00:42:11] Speaker B: I did it last night, actually.
[00:42:13] Speaker A: If you need that long a movie to do it.
[00:42:15] Speaker D: Origin stories are hard because you have to, like, nail. Everybody's got an opinion, you know, on, like, what the characters like. Look at Fantastic Four.
[00:42:24] Speaker B: Speaking of opinions. Good, good. Origins, for sure. Let's move our opinions on to. Let's get some spicy takes out here, because we're going to have a draft. I don't know if you guys know this. We have an NFL draft coming up. We're going to have an NBA lottery coming up. We're going to have a draft, but not just a draft of origins. We're going to kind of turn the page over here. We're going to talk a little bit about guys. I'm gonna kick it to our sidekicks. See what I did there? See what I did?
[00:42:49] Speaker E: I love it. Because we are sportscasters, we are sports podcasters. We've got to bring that format to the nerdy show. I'm sorry.
[00:42:56] Speaker B: So I said we're doing one thing in this pod. We're doing a draft. All right, So I want to hear. Our number one overall pick goes to Anthony.
[00:43:08] Speaker E: Anthony, give us your first need to know that. We're asking you, listening to this show to tell us who you think has the best team, who ends up with the best lineup.
So every one of the five of us is gonna pick four sidekicks.
[00:43:20] Speaker A: Best as in gonna beat the other ones in a fight.
[00:43:24] Speaker B: Their favorite favorite. What do you think this is?
[00:43:28] Speaker E: Whatever it takes.
[00:43:28] Speaker B: I'm gonna kill yours. Go ahead, Anthony.
[00:43:30] Speaker E: Listeners, right into the show and tell us who has the best team.
[00:43:33] Speaker B: Anthony, start us off.
[00:43:34] Speaker E: You're on the Clock.
[00:43:36] Speaker A: The pick is in X Men TV show Gambit.
[00:43:41] Speaker B: Wow. That was a jamarcus Russell if I've ever heard it.
[00:43:45] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:43:47] Speaker A: I did not understand that reference.
[00:43:51] Speaker B: He's a bad quarterback. All right, Thane. Thane with the second overall, but some might say the first overall pick.
[00:43:58] Speaker C: All of mine are still on the board.
Let's see. I'm gonna go with.
I don't think someone will take this. That one later. So I'm gonna go with.
[00:44:13] Speaker B: Really?
[00:44:15] Speaker C: Dr. John Watson?
[00:44:16] Speaker D: No, I actually. I actually had him on my list.
[00:44:21] Speaker E: Are you serious?
[00:44:22] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:44:23] Speaker C: Incredible sidekick.
[00:44:24] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:44:25] Speaker B: Ian, you're up third.
[00:44:28] Speaker D: Han Solo.
[00:44:29] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
[00:44:30] Speaker D: I'm taking hot solo.
[00:44:31] Speaker B: I actually might object to this.
[00:44:35] Speaker D: Why he is. I asked. No, you can't. Because I actually asked this. I asked this last week when we were planning this pod.
[00:44:44] Speaker A: That's a legit one.
[00:44:44] Speaker D: If in Star wars is Han, who's the main character? And you guys all unanimously basically said, Luke.
[00:44:52] Speaker A: And we said.
[00:44:53] Speaker D: And so I said, I think then Han Solo.
[00:44:55] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:44:56] Speaker D: Fits the bill.
[00:44:56] Speaker A: That's why Han has his own movie.
[00:44:58] Speaker E: Supporting actor doesn't mean sidekick.
[00:45:01] Speaker D: But I asked. Yeah, you guys voted. You guys said.
[00:45:05] Speaker B: All right, I'll let it slide. I let it slide.
[00:45:07] Speaker E: Kyle, let's hear pick. Now.
[00:45:09] Speaker B: You're the.
[00:45:10] Speaker E: I am ticked to not have Watson.
I am the guy who read literally everything Arthur Conan Doyle ever wrote. I consider myself an authority on Sherlock Holmes.
[00:45:21] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:45:22] Speaker E: I've watched everything. Even the old black and white Basel Rathbone. Sherlock Holmes is very important to me. Does that make me more nerdy or less? I don't know. I don't care. But I'm text that Watson is gone more. How could you do this to me?
[00:45:35] Speaker B: I think I'm gonna have the first overall pick still at number five.
[00:45:38] Speaker E: I think you will. Like, I don't even know why. I don't know where to go from here. I'm gonna go. Can I pick a pair?
[00:45:45] Speaker D: What does that mean?
[00:45:46] Speaker E: Like a pair of. A pair of sidekicks. Well, together.
[00:45:50] Speaker D: Pitch it and then do they function as a pair?
[00:45:54] Speaker A: That's a good question.
Like Marion Pippen.
[00:45:57] Speaker D: If they function.
[00:45:58] Speaker E: Oh, those would be good.
[00:45:59] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Holy crap.
[00:46:02] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:46:02] Speaker D: What are you doing? Give me people ideas.
[00:46:04] Speaker E: I'm overthinking it. Samwise Gamgee. All right, I'll take Samwise in the first round. I'll get interesting in the later.
[00:46:10] Speaker D: Put him on my list. Because I thought he would be gone.
[00:46:13] Speaker E: Before I. Samwise is gone off the board. He's my first round pick. Marshall.
[00:46:18] Speaker B: All Right. I'm with the fifth overall pick. I will be taking Robin. Specifically Dick Grayson. Robin, because I also get Nightwing.
[00:46:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:29] Speaker B: All right. And the second overall pick will be Luigi. Luigi.
[00:46:35] Speaker E: Luigi's pretty good.
[00:46:37] Speaker D: That's a good one. I like the Luigi more than the Robin pick. Personally, I'm not a big Robin fan.
[00:46:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:43] Speaker B: But I like Nightwing. Nightwing literally takes over for Batman.
[00:46:47] Speaker D: I mean, I can handle that. That's fine.
[00:46:49] Speaker B: It's your team, Kyle.
[00:46:50] Speaker E: It's fine.
[00:46:51] Speaker B: Build your team out. I got a great small forward and cent. Do you know that was a basketball reference?
[00:46:58] Speaker E: I've got three more picks in total. My team currently consists of Samwise Gam.
[00:47:03] Speaker D: I got a. Oh, I got a couple. I don't know which one I want to take first.
[00:47:07] Speaker E: I want Frenchie from the boys.
[00:47:10] Speaker B: Oh, Frenchy.
[00:47:12] Speaker D: I didn't even think of the boys.
[00:47:14] Speaker E: I. I considered mother's milk, too. And if I could take him as a pair.
If I could take him as a pair, I would. But I think I'll go Frenchie if I have to just settle on one guy. Frenchie from the boys. My second pick.
[00:47:29] Speaker D: I love it. Oh, we're on me.
[00:47:31] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:47:31] Speaker D: Sorry. Excuse my language there, Ian. Oh. Oh, man. I got a couple. I. There's a couple I think I want to save. I think I can save a couple of these.
[00:47:40] Speaker B: Frenchie.
[00:47:41] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:47:42] Speaker D: I'm gonna. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna take Hermione. Great.
[00:47:47] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
[00:47:48] Speaker D: No, no. Give me her. Hermione.
All right.
[00:47:53] Speaker A: That's a good one.
[00:47:55] Speaker B: You didn't pick.
[00:47:56] Speaker D: No, because Ron is an absolute idiot.
[00:48:01] Speaker E: Hermione does everything.
[00:48:03] Speaker D: Hermione is better than Harry and all.
[00:48:05] Speaker B: They would have literally, like the first movie. They're all dead without her.
[00:48:10] Speaker D: Yeah, she's the only reason they are. Any success anywhere?
[00:48:14] Speaker B: Thane, follow up that great draft pick with something on your board. For the love of everything.
[00:48:20] Speaker C: Chewbacca.
[00:48:21] Speaker A: That's a. Yep.
[00:48:25] Speaker D: You could take my own sidekicks.
[00:48:31] Speaker B: That was like Inception of sidekicks we're having right now. Wait till somebody picks like, one of. I don't know, what's his.
Finn. FN2187.
[00:48:40] Speaker E: Who follows around Finn?
[00:48:42] Speaker B: It would be Finn or FN2187.
[00:48:45] Speaker E: That's a good idea. Somebody should pick Finn as Chewy side.
[00:48:48] Speaker D: All right, Anthony, do it. Anthony.
[00:48:51] Speaker B: You got two picks in a row here, Anthony.
[00:48:53] Speaker A: No, I should have been prepared for that.
[00:48:56] Speaker D: I have one that I think Marshall might take. I'm kind of curious since you guys.
[00:48:59] Speaker A: Have Such lackluster reactions to my first book. I'm going to keep. Keep those going. And take Electra from Daredevil.
[00:49:06] Speaker D: Ooh, which Electra?
[00:49:08] Speaker B: Oh, great question.
[00:49:10] Speaker A: I like the one from Jennifer Garner.
[00:49:12] Speaker B: Oh, let's go.
[00:49:14] Speaker A: I like the one from the TV show.
[00:49:15] Speaker D: The TV show one is definitely more accurate.
[00:49:17] Speaker A: Yeah. So she was. She was slick.
[00:49:21] Speaker B: Slick. That was. I haven't heard that description yet for a character. I like it. Keep going.
[00:49:30] Speaker A: Let's keep taking ones that nobody was ever going to pick, and they don't get this one. I'm going to go with Rex from Mass Effect.
And see, nobody. Nobody else got that. But that's.
[00:49:43] Speaker B: Could have been your last pick, and nobody would have gotten him.
[00:49:45] Speaker A: Yeah, I know, but Rex is right.
[00:49:47] Speaker C: Or die.
[00:49:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:49:49] Speaker B: I have a. I'm just gonna let you know I have a pick that's gonna make Anthony so mad, and I just want all of you to be ready for it. Go ahead. Your pick. Thane, hit us with it.
[00:49:59] Speaker C: I'm also gonna go video game.
[00:50:01] Speaker B: Oh. Oh, yeah. It's a me Waluigi.
[00:50:04] Speaker C: And I'm gonna go Cortana.
[00:50:07] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:50:07] Speaker C: Halo.
[00:50:08] Speaker A: She was. She was on my list. Yeah, I respect. She's a good one.
[00:50:13] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:50:15] Speaker D: Ian, I'm trying to spell Cortana out correctly. I'm messing it up.
All right, let me look at my list. Jesse Pinkman, I'm taking.
[00:50:25] Speaker B: Oh, gosh.
I had it back to back that I was ready for, and you just took them.
[00:50:31] Speaker E: Jesse was on my board. I'm not gonna lie.
[00:50:34] Speaker D: I felt like he had to. He had to be on here somewhere.
[00:50:38] Speaker B: Kyle, hit us.
[00:50:39] Speaker E: This is my third pick.
[00:50:41] Speaker D: I love my list here, by the way.
[00:50:43] Speaker B: I honestly think I could go a whole other round if we went five each.
[00:50:47] Speaker E: I could easily go a fifth round.
[00:50:48] Speaker B: All right, let's do a five.
[00:50:50] Speaker E: Do five rounds. That makes it so much easier, because then I can pick up for my third pick, man. You guys, I'm gonna go Little John.
[00:51:03] Speaker A: Okay, okay, okay. I'm here for that. That's a good one.
[00:51:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I just like when the Usher and Ludacris song.
[00:51:10] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. Little John.
[00:51:11] Speaker B: He is kind of a sidekick in there. Snap your finger.
For those of you that don't know who Lil John is. He is.
[00:51:19] Speaker E: Yeah, he's a. He's a Little John from literature. Like, the actual literal Little John. Yeah, he's Robin Hood. Sidekick.
[00:51:26] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:51:27] Speaker E: Thank you. You're welcome.
[00:51:29] Speaker B: All right, I. I'm in need of a point guard, so some might say that I'm looking for A small guy on my lineup, and I would. I'm picking Mini me, who is Dr. Evil's psych and Austin Powers.
[00:51:43] Speaker D: That's an absolutely solid.
[00:51:45] Speaker B: Now I'm fast forwarding to the pick that pissed off Anthony. You ready for it? I'm picking Gus from Psych, Sean Spencer's sidekick, AKA the only reason Sean Spencer is alive or solves any crime ever.
[00:52:00] Speaker A: Well, that's not true, but.
[00:52:02] Speaker B: Oh, it's true. Oh, it's true.
[00:52:04] Speaker A: It's. It's true for him being alive for sure.
[00:52:07] Speaker B: Yeah, that's true.
[00:52:08] Speaker A: So he was my. He was my second pick. For which character would you hang out with?
[00:52:12] Speaker D: That was a good one.
[00:52:13] Speaker A: Gus was a good one. Gus is awesome.
[00:52:16] Speaker E: All right, Kyle, I'm back on the board. Give me McLovin.
[00:52:25] Speaker A: He wasn't anywhere on my list.
[00:52:28] Speaker E: I can't believe you guys didn't have McLovin.
[00:52:30] Speaker D: I'm super excited that I just thought of this.
I'm taking Sokka from Avatar.
[00:52:38] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:52:38] Speaker D: Last Airbender.
[00:52:40] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh, that's amazing. That's a great one.
[00:52:43] Speaker D: I was, like, just sitting here thinking about it, and I'm like, oh, my gosh, soccer is great.
[00:52:49] Speaker B: Hold on. I'm trying to spell soccer.
[00:52:50] Speaker A: Huh?
[00:52:51] Speaker B: Is it like that S, O, C, K, A.
[00:52:53] Speaker D: Close enough. Sock.
It's two Ks.
[00:52:56] Speaker B: Oh, darn. Not C. Thane, hit us with an obscure one that I know is in your arsenal right now. You're waiting.
[00:53:01] Speaker A: That I'm gonna be.
[00:53:02] Speaker B: You're gonna hit us over the head with something from, like.
[00:53:04] Speaker A: The only one I've been jealous of was Cortana.
[00:53:06] Speaker B: Are you picking Josh from Drake and Josh?
[00:53:09] Speaker C: No.
[00:53:09] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[00:53:12] Speaker C: Let'S see. I. I could go up a video game here.
[00:53:17] Speaker B: He's like, let me scroll down the list. Another one. They're gonna take that one.
[00:53:21] Speaker D: I go like Jim Rayner here.
[00:53:23] Speaker C: I think I'm gonna go carry again.
[00:53:27] Speaker D: Long before I went.
[00:53:28] Speaker C: I think I'm gonna go with a droid.
I think I'm gonna go just a battle droid.
[00:53:33] Speaker B: I actually want the droid who rips off R2D2's head and gets him and he's die, die, Jedi scum. What am I saying?
[00:53:43] Speaker A: Marshall man, C3PO. He knew.
[00:53:45] Speaker C: I'm gonna go with BD1 from the video games Fallen Order.
[00:53:51] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:53:52] Speaker B: Great answer.
[00:53:52] Speaker A: I'm jealous again.
[00:53:54] Speaker B: Great answer. Anthony, you got two picks in a row. We're picking inside your anger right now. Let the hatred flow.
[00:54:02] Speaker A: All right, Thane, does. Does the arbiter count as a Sidekick.
[00:54:09] Speaker C: Sure.
[00:54:10] Speaker B: We're allowing it. I guess the arbiter is for those that don't know.
[00:54:14] Speaker A: Well, you know what? Let's just hold on. Let's just go. Let's just go safe and say Sergeant Johnson. Same. Same world.
[00:54:20] Speaker B: Sergeant Johnson.
[00:54:20] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:54:21] Speaker B: From Halo. Okay. And your second pick.
[00:54:26] Speaker C: So this is your last solo counts then. Arbiter counts.
[00:54:29] Speaker A: It's kind of the same Sergeant.
[00:54:31] Speaker B: He doesn't want to go to two picks from the same.
He wants to spread it out a little here.
[00:54:36] Speaker A: I'll spread out. Spread out the love.
[00:54:37] Speaker B: Spread it like butter.
[00:54:38] Speaker A: Spread out the love.
Let me think.
[00:54:44] Speaker B: Guys, we're. Listen, we're missing, like. I can't wait till we get to honorable mentions.
[00:54:49] Speaker D: I have a couple honorable mentions.
[00:54:51] Speaker B: I got about 30.
[00:54:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I've. I've got a bunch, too, but it's. It's a matter of.
You know what? Let's go. Let's go. One real one. And Sebastian, Stan's Winter Soldier.
[00:55:03] Speaker B: Wow. Good answer.
[00:55:04] Speaker D: That's a good one. Good answer. Good answer. It's like Family Feud.
[00:55:10] Speaker B: We're gonna take it over to the only reason I'm excited to steal Team Thane. What do you got?
[00:55:16] Speaker C: Okay, I'm just double checking that this hasn't been taken yet, because. It's okay. I'm gonna go with Groot.
[00:55:25] Speaker B: Oh, great answer.
[00:55:28] Speaker C: I'm realizing that a lot of gosh, people on my team don't talk, but that's okay.
[00:55:36] Speaker A: They want to be the only one that talks on his team.
[00:55:40] Speaker B: Everybody listen.
[00:55:42] Speaker D: Well, I actually don't know of these four or five, which one I want.
[00:55:50] Speaker B: We want to hear four that you're not at the end. Don't give Kyle any ideas about what's in front of me. Don't reveal the draft board.
[00:55:57] Speaker D: I'm not going to reveal it.
I'm going to take Hobbs from Calvin and.
[00:56:06] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:56:08] Speaker E: That was on my list.
[00:56:09] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. You're amazing. You are amazing. I love you. Okay, that. By the way, we're ending on the draft today. We're going to pitch the end for another day. This we got to end on high note. This is going to be a good end. Kyle, hit us with your final pick for your team.
[00:56:26] Speaker E: A dream of life without a monarchy.
The unrest in France will lead to anarchy. I'm going with Lafayette.
[00:56:35] Speaker D: Lafayette.
[00:56:35] Speaker E: Lafayette.
[00:56:36] Speaker A: I just thought of Lafayette.
[00:56:40] Speaker E: Look it up. It's not hard.
[00:56:42] Speaker B: All right.
[00:56:44] Speaker E: You killed my father. I think I said from Hamilton.
[00:56:46] Speaker D: L A Y E no LAF. Oh, I know.

[00:56:54] Speaker E: Yeah, you got that right.
[00:56:55] Speaker D: Whatever, I'm just gonna keep it there.
[00:56:57] Speaker B: All right, guys, I have one and one only character.
The actor is Jerome Flynn.
Some might know him as from the Game of Thrones.
[00:57:09] Speaker D: Think about Game of Thrones.
[00:57:10] Speaker B: By the way, Brawn, the sidekick of all Tyrion. Sidekick. Jamie Lannister. Sidekick. The definition of sidekick in television is Braun.
[00:57:21] Speaker D: I like how you're trying to end like that.
[00:57:22] Speaker E: That's a great one.
[00:57:24] Speaker B: But we need to end on because honorable mentions are gonna steal the show. Okay, we just need to start.
[00:57:29] Speaker E: Hold on.
[00:57:29] Speaker A: Are we gonna. Are we gonna. Oh, no, we're letting the. We're letting the listeners pick. Pick who had the best.
[00:57:34] Speaker B: Yeah, they'll pick. They'll pick for us.
[00:57:36] Speaker E: Let's see. You want us to each repeat our lineup one at a time. Anthony, you do your five. So listeners gonna say what if? How would they like your team?
[00:57:42] Speaker D: They're all on there. They're all on there.
[00:57:44] Speaker A: All right. Gambit Electro. That's with a K. And I see.
[00:57:48] Speaker D: By the way, I just put in.
[00:57:50] Speaker B: Can't tell that we're at a faudio medium.
[00:57:53] Speaker A: Rex has a W before it.
[00:57:57] Speaker B: See you in hell. All right, all right, all right, all right.
[00:57:59] Speaker A: Sorry, I just wanted to mess with the answer.
[00:58:01] Speaker D: I didn't even do all of these.
[00:58:03] Speaker A: Gambit, Electra, Rex from Mass Effect, Sergeant Johnson and the Winter Soldier.
[00:58:08] Speaker E: Not bad.
[00:58:09] Speaker D: Sane.
[00:58:10] Speaker A: Thanks. Got my favorite.
[00:58:12] Speaker C: Dr. John Watson, Chewbacca, Cortana, BD1 and Groot.
[00:58:21] Speaker D: Kyle.
[00:58:22] Speaker E: That's such a good team. Oh, my gosh. Okay, I've got Sam, Wise, Gamgee, Little John, Frenchie from the boys, McLovin and Lafayette.
[00:58:31] Speaker A: This is a pretty started out strong.
[00:58:36] Speaker D: I do think you have a good team. All right, Mine was Han Solo, Hermione, Her, Jesse Pinkman, Saka from Avatar. Last air, Bender, the Animated Show. By the way, none of the liveaction crap.
And then I had Hobbs.
[00:58:52] Speaker A: Got a good one too.
[00:58:53] Speaker B: I have Dick. Marshall has Dick Grayson.
[00:58:57] Speaker A: Don't pause that podcast right there.
[00:58:59] Speaker B: It was actually a character. I have Dick Grayson, AKA Robin. I have Luigi. I have Mini Me from Ashton Powers. I have Gus from Psych, just to make Anthony mad. And then I have Bron from Game of Thrones.
[00:59:13] Speaker A: This is some solid beard from Ted Lasso.
[00:59:17] Speaker B: Oh, it's a great answer, guys. Let's hear some honorable mentions. Should I kick us off a boo.
Oh, wow. Actually, Genie is on my list. Almost. Genie would be good.
[00:59:29] Speaker D: Almost thought of Genie.
[00:59:31] Speaker E: I was Thinking.
[00:59:32] Speaker B: I'll start listing through. Stop me when one hits you. War Machine. Loki. We said Loki in the group text and no one picked. I actually was going to argue with somebody.
Yeah, Dick Grayson. That was my first overall. Alfred Pennyworth.
[00:59:49] Speaker D: Alfred. He's pretty good.
[00:59:50] Speaker A: He's a good one.
[00:59:50] Speaker B: Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite. Bender from Futurama.
[00:59:55] Speaker D: I had.
[00:59:55] Speaker B: I thought about Barney Rubble from the Flintstones.
Ron Weasley. Nobody took him. Nobody took Wilson from Castaway. How about Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off? How about Morty from Rick and Morty? Spock from Star Trek?
[01:00:10] Speaker A: That's a good one.
[01:00:10] Speaker B: Dory from Finding Nemo. Sean Hunter from Corey with Corey Matthews and Boy Meets World. Actually, Harley Quinn. No one took Harley Quinn.
[01:00:18] Speaker D: Nobody. Nobody did.
[01:00:20] Speaker B: Crypto Wong. Donkey.
How about Grogu? Patrick Starr. Jarvis? Dwight Schrute. George Costanza. Tails and Knuckles. Q from James Bond. How about Mozzie with Neil Caffrey? Oh, Mozzie's good in white collar.
[01:00:38] Speaker A: Oh, Mozzie's a good one.
[01:00:39] Speaker B: I forgot anything I missed.
[01:00:41] Speaker D: Yes. Legolas or Gimli.
[01:00:43] Speaker A: I feel like I thought any. Like Lord of the Rings one was a little too.
[01:00:48] Speaker D: I had Brock from Pokemon on here. I thought about Brock.
[01:00:53] Speaker B: Such a horn dog.
[01:00:55] Speaker D: Actually, I thought about putting in Officer.
[01:00:59] Speaker B: Wow.
[01:01:01] Speaker E: Is Pikachu not a.
I.
[01:01:07] Speaker D: Would have qualified Pikachu or Misty.
[01:01:10] Speaker E: Okay.
[01:01:10] Speaker D: I would have taken any of those I put on here. Now this one I didn't use because I didn't know how sidekicky they were.
[01:01:21] Speaker A: But I had less sidekicky than Han Solo.
[01:01:24] Speaker D: I actually. They might actually be a bot equal.
[01:01:28] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:01:29] Speaker D: Actually.
[01:01:29] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:01:30] Speaker D: I had Spider Man 2099.
[01:01:33] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[01:01:34] Speaker A: I can get behind this.
[01:01:35] Speaker D: I like really thought about that because I was like, that's kind of blurs.
[01:01:40] Speaker B: Keep going.
[01:01:40] Speaker D: And I also had Noir. Spider Man.
[01:01:43] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Nick Cage. Come on.
He's actually not a sidekick in any movie he's in. He's actually known as the Always Nick Cage is in a movies.
[01:01:53] Speaker A: Any of those Miles Morales. Other spider mans would have been good ones. Spider Gwen.
Oh, my gosh, I forgot the rocks.
[01:02:02] Speaker B: Just keep. We'll actually let you sit there for the rest of the show. Go ahead.
[01:02:06] Speaker D: Just trying to think about them. What about Ned?
[01:02:10] Speaker B: Ned's declassified Foggy Nelson. Oh, Foggy.
[01:02:14] Speaker A: Foggy's a good one. Oh, yeah, I thought about him too, but I wanted Electro.
[01:02:20] Speaker B: Oh, I bet you did. Thane, do you got any on your. I feel like you're like hoarding, like 70. That I didn't say about Lord Farquaad.
[01:02:30] Speaker A: Donkey was a good one.
[01:02:32] Speaker B: It's actually gonna be my first overall pick. But I was like, I can either go weird or I want to win. And I wanted to win.
[01:02:37] Speaker C: Olaf, there were some more video game ones.
[01:02:40] Speaker A: No, no.
[01:02:41] Speaker C: Like Yoshi.
[01:02:42] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:02:43] Speaker C: Or Navi from Zelda. You know.
[01:02:47] Speaker A: Okay, listen, hey, listen.
[01:02:51] Speaker D: I love that we did that.
[01:02:57] Speaker C: Kazooie from Banjo Kazooie. Good answer.
I also Diddy Kong.
[01:03:02] Speaker A: Donkey Kong.
[01:03:03] Speaker C: Yeah. There's so many from. Yeah. Video game stuff.
[01:03:06] Speaker D: But I could have gone down the World of War.
[01:03:08] Speaker B: I think Toad would be a sick one.
[01:03:10] Speaker C: Toad. Yeah. We didn't say always with Rocket. Rocket, right. From Guardians.
[01:03:17] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:03:17] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:03:17] Speaker C: That's one.
[01:03:18] Speaker A: He was kind of the main character in the third one, though. So I think I left him off. That's why I left him off the table.
[01:03:23] Speaker B: That's why I think Groot is a sidekick. Because he is the sidekick of not only Guardians, but Rocket Raccoon. He's a sidekick to him.
[01:03:31] Speaker A: Right?
[01:03:31] Speaker D: Definitely. Very sidekicky.
[01:03:32] Speaker C: Right.
[01:03:33] Speaker B: Anything we missed on your list? Kyle, I know you have an extensive list.
[01:03:38] Speaker E: No.
[01:03:38] Speaker B: Wow. We covered it all. We covered it all.
[01:03:41] Speaker E: Anything else of them on the drive home.
[01:03:43] Speaker B: Good.
[01:03:44] Speaker E: It was a pretty good list. It was fun. I'd love to have listeners right into the show and tell us what we missed. And we will maybe mention and who won. Mostly who won.
[01:03:53] Speaker A: I mean, so we didn't have no Iceman, any. Any of the Firefly characters. So there was Zoe, there was Jane.
[01:04:01] Speaker B: No, I'm kidding. That's how we end the pod.
[01:04:02] Speaker A: Guys, Zoe was amazing as a sidekick.
Wash was a great one. Those are all Firefly characters that. Yeah. I love.
[01:04:11] Speaker B: It took him. You finally said more words about Firefly than Superman did in all of the man of Steel movies put together.
[01:04:19] Speaker A: Appreciate.
[01:04:19] Speaker B: Marshall, we're an hour and five minutes into the pod and I finally made a Superman joke at your expense.
[01:04:24] Speaker A: I appreciate it. Kerrigan was a good one. Who?
[01:04:27] Speaker D: Kerrigan would have been a good one.
[01:04:28] Speaker A: That was. That was a good one. I I.
All right, Marshall.
[01:04:31] Speaker B: Anything else we should eager to hang out?
[01:04:34] Speaker D: Anybody here do Diablo?
[01:04:37] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[01:04:38] Speaker D: I did like Deckard Kane.
[01:04:39] Speaker B: I did Diablo expansion pack.
[01:04:41] Speaker D: Yes.
[01:04:42] Speaker B: Diablo 2 back in.
[01:04:43] Speaker D: The Lord of Hell has returned.
[01:04:47] Speaker B: You kind of sound like a character from a movie that I can't remember. But I'll. It'll hit me at three in the morning when I'm driving home.
[01:04:52] Speaker D: Diablo and Diablo 2. Oh, my gosh. Play those games in the dark.
[01:04:57] Speaker B: Oh, I'm like freaking out on Advil. Of course. All right.
This is the point where we talk about our show and thank you as listeners.
[01:05:09] Speaker E: We're doing the same outro music as our other show.
[01:05:11] Speaker C: Yeah, he doesn't.
[01:05:12] Speaker B: Until you come prepared for our podcast with something different, Kyle, that's what we do.
And I put this is where I meet the other guys and I'm the ginger.
[01:05:24] Speaker D: Oh, he did.
You can't just mute me because I stole the microphone. I am the Lord of the.
