I'm a podcaster. [00:00:32] Speaker B: I feel like we have to get paid to be considered professional. [00:00:36] Speaker C: How much? [00:00:36] Speaker A: Think about giving my barber a plug on our podcast and just. You know how we did your ads? Oh, we didn't do an ad shout out to give us your website. [00:00:45] Speaker C: No, we don't need to. We don't need to pitch the ads. I don't want to piss off the listeners. [00:00:48] Speaker B: Welcome to Kyle. [00:00:51] Speaker A: Kyle, Kyle impersonation of him talking very fast. The one thing about Kyler Murray is that his passer efficiency. Leave me alone. [00:01:00] Speaker C: Are so mean to me. Just leave me alone. [00:01:02] Speaker A: Okay, Data that was coming through the spreadsheets, and what I was conceiving was that 8. [00:01:08] Speaker B: Why did you have to say conceiving, by the way? [00:01:11] Speaker A: What a Was I? [00:01:12] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm pretty sure I picked up on that word. [00:01:14] Speaker A: I'm in summer mode right now. Two weeks. Soak it in. [00:01:17] Speaker B: I got one week left of summer. [00:01:19] Speaker C: Oh. I just got back from vacation celebrating my 16th anniversary with my wife and 16. 16 years. [00:01:25] Speaker A: Yeah. Congrats. [00:01:26] Speaker C: Yeah, thank you. Thank you. [00:01:27] Speaker B: More than us. Yeah, I know. [00:01:31] Speaker C: We went to Grand Rapids and saw Hamilton live. [00:01:34] Speaker A: Third row. [00:01:35] Speaker C: Third row. [00:01:36] Speaker A: How great was it? [00:01:38] Speaker C: Oh, it was just unimaginable. [00:01:40] Speaker B: You probably had to be in the room where it happened. [00:01:43] Speaker C: I really did. It was so good. I'll never get sick. So cool. [00:01:48] Speaker B: You guys, we watched that movie. I think it's going to become a tradition where we're going to watch Hamilton on 4th of July every time now. [00:01:55] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. See, we watch it every time. We're in the hospital with a baby. Oh, yeah. [00:02:01] Speaker A: That's amazing. [00:02:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:04] Speaker A: Guys, we have some questions of the day. [00:02:06] Speaker C: Hit us. [00:02:07] Speaker A: First one we got. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life that starts with the first letter of your name, what would it be? [00:02:13] Speaker C: Easy. Kebabs. [00:02:15] Speaker A: You mean kebabs. [00:02:16] Speaker C: Okay, kebabs. [00:02:19] Speaker B: What would be on the kebabs? [00:02:20] Speaker A: Yeah, can you tell us that? That's A good answer. [00:02:22] Speaker C: Because, I mean, that's. That's one of the beauty of it. You can put a lot of different things on it. It would be appropriate. Like, you can put. You can put veggies. You can put different types of meat on it. Oreo, you can sauce it up. Do we want to make the real fruit on it? [00:02:32] Speaker B: Sometimes, whatever it is, it has to start with the letter K. No, no, no. [00:02:37] Speaker A: Kiwi. [00:02:40] Speaker C: I'm screwed. [00:02:41] Speaker B: Kobe beef. Kobe beef. [00:02:42] Speaker C: Okay. We could do that with that. [00:02:43] Speaker B: Does that start with a K or is that a C? [00:02:46] Speaker A: Beef, Kobe, jack cheese. Starts with the C. Okay. [00:02:48] Speaker C: Right. [00:02:49] Speaker B: I don't actually. Candy. [00:02:50] Speaker C: I'll have candy. [00:02:51] Speaker B: That doesn't. [00:02:54] Speaker C: I don't know. What's your answer? Ice cream. [00:02:57] Speaker B: Yeah. Question. Is the food gonna like. [00:03:00] Speaker A: It's food. [00:03:01] Speaker C: Is this is our sustenance for life. [00:03:02] Speaker B: But is like, if I eat this sustenance forever, do I say that word. [00:03:08] Speaker A: Somehow in this podcast too? Yes. [00:03:10] Speaker C: Repeat the question. [00:03:12] Speaker B: Is this like. Along with all the negatives and perks of said. Okay. Because ice cream would be dangerous. [00:03:20] Speaker C: It might shorten your lifespan. [00:03:23] Speaker A: Upset City, Utah. [00:03:26] Speaker B: I thought about two possible options coming back. Two possible options. Iceberg lettuce. [00:03:34] Speaker C: That has no nutrition. That's water. It doesn't. It can't even sustain rabbits. [00:03:39] Speaker B: But I could eat a lot of it. Okay. [00:03:42] Speaker A: Or what was the second one? Lemons, Limes. [00:03:44] Speaker B: Or it could be Idaho potatoes. [00:03:48] Speaker C: Okay. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Which I'm leaning towards the Idaho potatoes only because it's. [00:03:55] Speaker C: All right. [00:03:55] Speaker B: Potatoes. [00:03:56] Speaker A: Idaho potatoes. [00:03:57] Speaker B: So I think I would. I'll go the. [00:03:59] Speaker C: Then I can go Kentucky Fried Chicken. [00:04:01] Speaker A: I'll allow it. [00:04:02] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll allow it by these rules. [00:04:04] Speaker A: Okay, sure. [00:04:05] Speaker B: If we don't follow those rules, I'll take. I'll take the ice cream. [00:04:08] Speaker A: Okay. [00:04:09] Speaker C: All right, Marshall. [00:04:10] Speaker A: I'm going meatloaf. [00:04:11] Speaker B: That's solid meatloaf. [00:04:13] Speaker C: Yes. [00:04:14] Speaker B: You could have just said meat. And I feel like I would have. [00:04:16] Speaker A: Taken the spirit of this game. Like, I'm not allowing that type of tomfoolery. That's a good one. [00:04:24] Speaker C: Ash makes a great meatloaf. [00:04:25] Speaker A: Hey, I've had it before. It's good. I had a student at one of my old schools who brought a meatloaf, and I was like, looks really good. Next day, he brings me in a piece. I eat it in front of the whole class. Then I challenged people whenever they made meatloaf to bring me in a piece. Dude, really? I tried 30 different meatloafs and gave ratings one to 10. [00:04:46] Speaker C: Holy moly. [00:04:48] Speaker A: And I was truthful. One of them actually got upset because I didn't like it. They put a lot of carrots in it. [00:04:54] Speaker C: Interesting. [00:04:54] Speaker B: That is weird. Yeah. [00:04:55] Speaker C: Okay. [00:04:55] Speaker A: I thought so, too. Okay, our second question of the week. Because we could we offseason. [00:05:00] Speaker B: Could you, like, switch that and be like, if you could only listen to one band for the rest of your life. But I had to start with the same letter. Well, you could take Meatloaf. [00:05:10] Speaker C: Wow. Double answer. That's awesome. [00:05:12] Speaker B: I was thinking about this. [00:05:13] Speaker C: There was a Meatloaf song on one of your, like, hits playlists that you. [00:05:17] Speaker A: Like, wasn't out of three ain't bad. [00:05:18] Speaker C: Was that not right? Yeah, I don't know. It was. It was a deeper cut. [00:05:22] Speaker A: I didn't know it was a deep cuts just song. My dad. [00:05:25] Speaker B: I don't know a lot of bands that start with I. So I. The only one I could think of off the top of my head would be Iggy Pop, right? [00:05:31] Speaker C: Which no, dude, icp. [00:05:36] Speaker B: That just sounds like I came out of the movie at sixth cents. [00:05:39] Speaker A: And you spelled I cup out loud. [00:05:41] Speaker C: No. Insane Clown Posse, man. You remember Magnets? Don't you remember? [00:05:46] Speaker A: Come on. How about you? Do you know a K band? [00:05:50] Speaker C: Probably? Yeah, right off the top of my head. [00:05:55] Speaker A: The Theos. [00:05:57] Speaker C: Oh, okay. Thank you. Thank you. All right. [00:06:00] Speaker B: That's all right. [00:06:00] Speaker A: Our second question. If everything in a store was free for 30 minutes, what store would you choose to shop in? [00:06:08] Speaker C: How about a car dealership? [00:06:12] Speaker A: Not allowing it. [00:06:13] Speaker C: Come on. [00:06:13] Speaker A: Not a store. [00:06:14] Speaker C: You're just making up the rules. [00:06:15] Speaker A: You need a cart. [00:06:17] Speaker C: Okay, you got to have a cart. Then what? What do you think? [00:06:21] Speaker B: Well, I could go my store that I would enjoy, which would be like, Best Buy. Or I could go to a store that's practical and go like Walmart or something like that. But that's stupid. I want to go Best Buy. I'm going to go Best Buy. [00:06:34] Speaker A: Kyle. [00:06:37] Speaker C: Oh. Oh, I. I'd go nuts in, like, Dicks. [00:06:45] Speaker A: A lot of good stuff. [00:06:46] Speaker C: Yeah, there's some good stuff there. I'd probably go into, like one of those big. I don't know if you guys ever been in one, but like a guitar center. Oh, like a big. Yeah. With the guitars all up the wall. [00:06:58] Speaker B: Place over in Ann Arbor. I don't know if it's still there. It was called Elderly. [00:07:01] Speaker C: Oh, Elderly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's one in Lansing, I thought. Yeah. Or something like that. And. Yeah. A place like that to just walk out with some of those pieces. [00:07:14] Speaker B: I loved going to Elderly and going. They had like a Whole, like, section of, like, acoustics. I would find the most expensive one. I would just play it. [00:07:25] Speaker C: No Stairway. [00:07:26] Speaker B: And it denied. Stairway Denied. And I would just like. It's amazing playing like a $3,000 guitar versus going home and playing like a 200 guitar. It's like my fingers felt like they could fly. [00:07:41] Speaker C: Oh, I sound good. [00:07:42] Speaker B: I know. I'm like, have I always been this good? And then I come home and I play my guitar and I'm like, no, I'm not. It's. [00:07:51] Speaker A: I played a first act guitar for three years of Lumen music class where I did band or where I did guitar class. First act guitar is like a kid guitar you get for like a little kid. And I was a very strong, big offensive lineman and was playing this little rinky dink guitar. It was my favorite. It's a good visual. My store would be Horrocks. [00:08:13] Speaker C: Good choice. [00:08:14] Speaker A: There's a lot at Horrocks. [00:08:15] Speaker C: There's a lot of. I'd worry about the consumables, though. Like, you're hauling out a lot. You know, I'd worry about getting a bunch of stuff I couldn't consume in time. [00:08:24] Speaker A: No, no. You know, I legit had to look. [00:08:26] Speaker B: Up what a Horox was because I had no idea what you're talking about. [00:08:29] Speaker A: You and Claire should have a date night there. Maybe the pocket sponsor. [00:08:32] Speaker B: She would probably say either Aldi or Trader Joe's. [00:08:34] Speaker A: I was gonna say Trader Joe's simply to make clear smile, but I. [00:08:38] Speaker B: She. I mean, we don't. We don't have a Trader Joe's here though. So she would probably take Aldi because it's what we have. [00:08:45] Speaker C: I think that's a Horrocks or something like that. Like, with a liquor section where I can watch because the shelf life. [00:08:49] Speaker A: A lot of great beer. [00:08:50] Speaker C: The shelf life for like some bottles of whiskey or something like that is like super, super long. Like, I kind of have a collection for the rest of my life. [00:08:56] Speaker B: You know where I would go? [00:08:57] Speaker A: I would go Best Buy. You already said it to. [00:09:00] Speaker B: I mean, I would go to Best Buy. That'd probably be my first choice. But the more I think about it, I would go Kroger, Canton, Ohio, go to the hall of Fame, into their little souvenir section. If I'm gonna get. If I got 30 minutes, I can buy a lot of jerseys. [00:09:15] Speaker A: That's amazing. [00:09:15] Speaker B: A lot of good jerseys. [00:09:16] Speaker C: Wow. A whole closet of like every player jersey. That'd be so cool. [00:09:20] Speaker B: And there's like, players on, like, other teams. I would buy A Lamar Jackson jersey. If I would. If I could. [00:09:29] Speaker C: How fun would that be? If we had, like, a regular sponsor to this show, we could, like, just have a different jersey for every episode. Man, we should. [00:09:38] Speaker B: You know what we should do? [00:09:39] Speaker A: Go ahead. [00:09:40] Speaker B: Maybe on a different pod, we should go through and say, okay, this team, who is a player on that team you would buy a jersey for? [00:09:47] Speaker C: Wow. Okay. [00:09:49] Speaker A: A little draft. Yeah, maybe a draft. [00:09:51] Speaker B: It doesn't even have to be a draft. It could be like, you know, and it could be former players or current players. [00:09:59] Speaker C: Yeah, I like that. I like that. Some appreciation, listeners. [00:10:03] Speaker B: Tell us what you think. [00:10:04] Speaker A: Okay, guys, we got a couple questions and takes from our mailbag from our loyal listeners, by the way. Listeners, thank you. [00:10:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:15] Speaker A: Just need to give you a loyal thank you right now. This is our, what, fourth, fifth year recording this podcast. [00:10:23] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:10:24] Speaker B: We started. [00:10:25] Speaker C: I think 2021 was the first regular season. [00:10:28] Speaker B: I was gonna say. I'm like, did we start post Covet? I feel like it was post coveted. [00:10:33] Speaker A: It's pretty impressive. [00:10:35] Speaker B: I like how Covet is now. [00:10:36] Speaker A: Like Kyle says it. [00:10:37] Speaker B: Was it before or after that? [00:10:39] Speaker A: Podcasts break up pretty quickly. To be this far into our. [00:10:44] Speaker C: We're still together, you know, into our time together. You know, how. How many episodes you have to do to be in the top 1% of podcasts? [00:10:55] Speaker A: I bet it's like 100. [00:10:57] Speaker C: It's like 20 episodes. [00:10:58] Speaker B: Wow. [00:10:59] Speaker C: If you've done 20 episodes, you've done more than 99 of others. [00:11:03] Speaker A: We're 1 percenters, guys. [00:11:04] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:06] Speaker B: Are we in the 1 percenters of how many people listen to us, though? [00:11:11] Speaker A: No. [00:11:12] Speaker B: We could be Spread the love. [00:11:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:15] Speaker B: We could be the next big sports show. I don't see why not. [00:11:22] Speaker A: You're right. We have the. We have the drive for it. We'll see you every week in the season. [00:11:26] Speaker C: True. [00:11:27] Speaker A: I'm excited for it. Let's get to some of our mailbag, guys. Some of our mailbag is going to give us a little bit of a preview for what our episode is today. Our episode today. Kyle, can you give us a little description of what we're going to kind of walk down memory lane doing today? Because last week we. Our last time we potted, we did something kind of similar. We did do a little bit different. [00:11:48] Speaker C: That was super fun, though. And I want to make that an annual tradition, if we could. But Marshall worked really hard last episode and still deserves all the flowers for coming up, though. [00:11:57] Speaker B: That was good. [00:11:58] Speaker A: Old clips, some of those. [00:12:00] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. [00:12:02] Speaker B: That had me Rolling. I thought that was. I can't believe that came out of my mouth. I'm sorry, Tony. [00:12:08] Speaker C: Yeah, you brought some fun stuff up, Marshall. So listeners of the pod, if you're tuning in now, like, you should go back and listen to the last spot. That was fun. That was a good time. But this is now a new established annual tradition which we will. We will commence after the mailbag. But this is our time capsule episode. Every summer we express some takes and bury them in the ground in a time capsule to be retrieved one year later, the following summer, next summer, 2026. It's a collection of articulated, nuanced takes and standard, straightforward, classic predictions. And we dig it all up and see how much we got right. [00:12:51] Speaker A: Oh, and it's. [00:12:53] Speaker C: Well, it's. I'm sure what you would expect. [00:12:57] Speaker B: Where we're correct because we're amazing. [00:13:01] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:13:01] Speaker B: Sports. [00:13:02] Speaker C: That's why you listen to journalists. That's why you're listening. Because we know what's happening. [00:13:06] Speaker B: We do. [00:13:07] Speaker C: Let's get to the mailbag. [00:13:08] Speaker A: All right, our first question. Ericio writes in who will have a big, a bigger impact this season for their new team? Devonte Adams with the Rams or George Pickens with the Cows? [00:13:24] Speaker B: I have an answer. [00:13:25] Speaker A: Hit me with it. [00:13:26] Speaker B: I think it's going to be George Pickens and I have some logical reasons as to why I think this one. Devonte Adams, while one of you know, like in his prime, was very much like a generational type talent, is no longer in his prime. [00:13:43] Speaker C: Right. [00:13:44] Speaker B: I feel like he fills the gap of Cooper cup leaving now. Maybe Devonte will get back to that level of play that we saw when he was with Rogers. But considering we haven't really seen that for a few years now and he is older, I don't know if he's going to be lights out. Amazing, right? Is he going to be good? Yes, of course. He's got Stafford thrown to him. He's got a much better quarterback than he did last year. And yeah, I just think all I. The only reason why I think George Pickens is going to have a bigger deal is because devonte Adam feels like he's just filling in the gap that Cooper cup is leaving. [00:14:25] Speaker A: Pretty big gap. [00:14:27] Speaker B: A big one. But devonte, I feel like those are two comparable receivers though, right? In like what they're capable and what they're good at. So I actually do feel like they fill the same void or like, spot. [00:14:40] Speaker A: Sure. [00:14:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:42] Speaker B: Versus George Pickens. Going over to the Cowboys with CD Lamb already there. Their biggest problem was they didn't have a secondary guy to throw to and I think now, I mean they had Gallop I guess but I was like. [00:14:56] Speaker A: You know, yeah, this could be, this. [00:14:59] Speaker C: Could be chance to shine. Right. Maybe he will thrive as a number. [00:15:03] Speaker B: Yeah, he could like find his stride here. Difficult to say though with Pickens because he's been kind of. You're not like a big drama mama with the Steelers, but a little. A little drama. [00:15:17] Speaker A: A little he caused the Jones loves that. [00:15:21] Speaker C: I, I tend to side with you though. I do think Pickens will because the buck will be greater. I'm not a particular fan of the Mark McCarthy offense and I think that. [00:15:31] Speaker B: They are not his offense anymore. [00:15:32] Speaker C: I know. That's why I think that they will have a resurgence. Like I could see Dak coming to his own finally having a better designed offense that doesn't ask him to just like target only tight windows and impossible throws all the time and he can do that very often. But a better designed offense, man, like when Mike McCarthy left the packers and LaFleur came and they started to have sensible offenses that asked Aaron Rodgers to do things that, that you know a quarterback should be asked to do instead of the impossible offense soared. The guy's winning MVPs. They have the best offense in the league. I, I'm not saying he that Schottenheimer is at the floor but I'm saying that like I think there's an expiration in the Mike McCarthy offense style and I think it's going to be much better there when they have a solid number two receiver and I have questions about Matt Stafford's health. [00:16:19] Speaker A: There was a lot of reactions online about how devonte left the Raiders to get away from Jimmy G. Just for Jimmy G to be the only quarterback who's right now listed healthy on the team. [00:16:32] Speaker B: Wow. [00:16:32] Speaker A: So you know the mic'd up of him on receivers is like I gotta get outta here before this guy kills me. He gets traded. He just. [00:16:40] Speaker C: Right. [00:16:41] Speaker A: He's like the remote from Click that just keeps getting thrown away and it's back in his hand. [00:16:45] Speaker C: Right. [00:16:45] Speaker A: Except it's Jimmy G's. [00:16:46] Speaker C: It could be interesting. They've got an aging veteran in Stafford as a number one quarterback there who could be questionable, couldn't be missing playing time with the back issue. And Garoppolo has had a lot of injury history. He's an aging veteran as well. And I think it's Stetson Bennett is like the third string quarterback they have right now. It's like it's a question like the the Rams Feel in position. But what could they do if they have quarterback health issues? [00:17:07] Speaker B: They got a lot of talent on that team right now, though, on both sides. [00:17:11] Speaker C: Big question. [00:17:12] Speaker B: I like their team. I like their team. [00:17:14] Speaker C: Yeah, you do, don't you? [00:17:15] Speaker B: I do. [00:17:16] Speaker C: Okay. Wow. [00:17:17] Speaker A: Did you know Stetson Bennett had six years in the NCAA and didn't graduate? [00:17:23] Speaker B: What? [00:17:23] Speaker A: It's a riddle. [00:17:24] Speaker C: I'm sorry. [00:17:25] Speaker A: It's true. It's true. All right, our next question. Justin Matson writes in who makes the AFC and NFC title? I'm gonna sit this one out because it is literally my hot take, so I can't give it right now. So, Justin, you're gonna need to just hold on for my answer. [00:17:44] Speaker B: We'll put a pin in it. [00:17:45] Speaker A: Yeah, put a pin in it. Something to keep an eye on. [00:17:48] Speaker C: Okay. Do you have yours? [00:17:53] Speaker B: I have. [00:17:54] Speaker A: Wow. [00:17:55] Speaker B: I have. I could do it. [00:17:57] Speaker A: Go ahead. [00:17:57] Speaker B: You can do yours. [00:17:59] Speaker C: I think that in the afc, the Bills are. Bills will topple the Chargers to make it to their first super bowl in many, many years, and the Lions will upset the Commanders to make it to their first Super Bowl. [00:18:11] Speaker B: I love. I love the Bills over Chargers. That's such a fun take. [00:18:18] Speaker C: I gotta make it interesting. Okay. All right. There you go. [00:18:21] Speaker B: Justin, I'm gonna go logical on this one. I don't want to be super hot on this. I'm gonna say you're gonna have Bills and the Ravens in the actual AFC game. It's not asking for a win right now. So I'm just gonna say that right now. [00:18:35] Speaker C: Okay. [00:18:36] Speaker B: And I'm gonna say Lions, Rams. In the other one. [00:18:39] Speaker C: Lions. Rams. Wow. Stafford not only makes it through the regular season, makes it to the championship game. [00:18:46] Speaker B: I am. I'm gonna put that there. Yes. [00:18:48] Speaker C: That's cool. [00:18:49] Speaker A: Justin didn't even know we were doing a time capsule episode. [00:18:51] Speaker C: Okay. [00:18:52] Speaker A: He literally just said, just something for you guys to hang on to for later. [00:18:55] Speaker C: Love it. [00:18:56] Speaker A: So thank you. Rick Baxter. He wrote in probably a diatribe of questions, which I love. Should we just rapid fire some of these, Kyle? [00:19:06] Speaker C: Yeah, let's do our best. Which. Each of these. Right, Rick? Rid did sit down and try hard to give us good questions, good content for the pop. We appreciate you, Rick. [00:19:14] Speaker A: Thank you for that. [00:19:15] Speaker B: We might have to come back to some of these, though. [00:19:17] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:19:18] Speaker A: Hit us with your favorite one on here, Kyle. [00:19:22] Speaker C: Let's see. [00:19:23] Speaker A: He is, you know, your owner of your old house and business in which you work in. [00:19:29] Speaker C: Yeah. Okay. This is. This is really one. [00:19:32] Speaker B: I'll pick one. Because the first two. I don't feel like we can do just yet because we haven't really given a lot of predictions. And they're about our predictions. [00:19:38] Speaker C: Well, no, they're not. They're about like other Josie listen to. Like. So the first question is what other podcasters prediction do you hope will come true? Like, what else do do we listen to? What are the takes are we hearing out there from, you know, whatever? Oh, I heard Bill Simmons say yada yada, or Colin Cowherd said this and I think I kind of like that one, that take or whatever. Is there anything that comes to mind you heard somebody else give and you're into it? [00:20:05] Speaker A: I really liked Stu Gats talking about he's a big jets fan, so he always talks about the Jet. Like right now it's like the jets are going to win the super bowl like every year. Every year, Every year. It's so great. So just any jets hype, I'm all for it. Just makes me laugh later when like they're 3 and 9 going into week 14 or, you know, it's just a blast. I love it. So how about you guys? Anything on your radar? [00:20:31] Speaker B: I. I said this before we started the pod. I haven't been listening to a lot of NFL news, so let me give you my F1 takes. [00:20:40] Speaker C: Oh, right now. Thank you. [00:20:43] Speaker B: We don't accept it. [00:20:44] Speaker A: Kyle, how about you? [00:20:45] Speaker C: Yeah, the best I can come up with is listening to some people talk about the quarterback competition going on at the lowly New York Giants, who I think are one of the worst teams in the NFL, and they're probably going to be picking the top five draft next year. That's not even my hot take. That's just a bonus for you. [00:21:01] Speaker B: But there's only one quarterback who's gonna start over there. We all know who it is. [00:21:05] Speaker C: Yeah, I've heard. [00:21:05] Speaker A: Count of three. One, two, three. [00:21:08] Speaker B: Jason, darts. [00:21:09] Speaker A: Oh. [00:21:10] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Yeah. [00:21:11] Speaker B: So dark's over there. [00:21:13] Speaker C: Jackson dart. [00:21:14] Speaker B: I thought he went somewhere else. [00:21:16] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:21:17] Speaker B: I forgot about him. [00:21:17] Speaker A: I don't know why, but I want you. [00:21:19] Speaker B: Well, I want James, I want Jamis. I don't care whoever else is. You could put Jamis on any team. I will want him to start same. [00:21:27] Speaker C: Yeah, I want to watch that. That's the. That's the TV that. [00:21:29] Speaker A: I just want to listen to it. I don't really want to watch. [00:21:33] Speaker C: I like to watch it. There's a guy who's not afraid to throw the ball. [00:21:37] Speaker B: NFC north end of season rankings is on here. [00:21:43] Speaker C: I feel like we do this every Year. [00:21:44] Speaker A: I'll give you a hot take that won't go in the vault because it's going to stay with you. Are you ready? [00:21:49] Speaker C: Okay. [00:21:50] Speaker A: I got the Vikings and the packers missing the playoffs. [00:21:53] Speaker B: Wow. [00:21:54] Speaker A: And I got Lions than Bears last year I said the same thing. I'm just gonna keep saying it until I'm right. [00:22:02] Speaker C: We're just gonna renew that one. [00:22:05] Speaker A: Yeah. That's gonna be the take that you Forgot had a 6.99 subscription to it and just you let your credit card lapse and it's somehow found your new credit card. [00:22:15] Speaker B: That's fun. [00:22:16] Speaker A: Here you are. [00:22:16] Speaker C: You should be able to renew a take from the previous year. And we say it's not. You're just not wrong. You just. You just early by a year by. [00:22:26] Speaker B: Merit of the schedule. I Lions schedule this year is really rough. [00:22:35] Speaker A: Good old schedule talk. [00:22:36] Speaker C: Oh they've all got a tough schedule. The Lions are a good team. They're still going to win games. [00:22:40] Speaker B: They are a good team. But they have. I'd have to go back and look. But a lot of the playoff teams that they have to play because they're going to have to play the Chiefs I believe the Eagles, the Ravens I think are on there a lot of high quality teams. They are playing on the road and I. They were road warriors last year. They were undefeated on the road last year. So. [00:23:06] Speaker C: But oh man. [00:23:09] Speaker B: So I'm still going to put them at number one. [00:23:13] Speaker C: Okay. What was that all about? To be fair. [00:23:18] Speaker A: That was in spirit. [00:23:19] Speaker B: To be fair though they're. Their roster is I still think the best out of the NFC north. So I still think they're going to find a way to be the top. And then I'd probably put the Vikings. [00:23:32] Speaker A: Packer. [00:23:33] Speaker B: I. I'd actually. I think it's going to play out just like it did last year with the only difference of the packers and the Bears flip flopping. [00:23:40] Speaker C: You think the packers are dropping to the bottom of the division? [00:23:42] Speaker B: I think the packers drop to the bottom. [00:23:44] Speaker C: Wow. What's your basis for that? [00:23:45] Speaker B: There's no basis. I just. [00:23:46] Speaker A: He just hates them. [00:23:47] Speaker B: I just. [00:23:49] Speaker A: I think Ohio State's gonna lose every game this year. [00:23:52] Speaker C: I'm. I'm totally. I'm. I'm on. On on that all over it. [00:23:57] Speaker B: It's nothing like the Bears are going to have a slightly easier schedule because they were the bottom four. So they're going to be playing against bottom four teams in a lot in some of these matchups. So I think they're going to have some scheduling favorites. Favors There. And I just. I. I wasn't super hyped on the packers last year. I thought they were overrated. They were fine. [00:24:23] Speaker A: You know, I love you. You're amazing. [00:24:25] Speaker B: They were fine and they played fine and then they, you know, they were fine. It's hard to talk about NFC North. It was a disaster for the entire division at the end of the year anyway. [00:24:35] Speaker A: So how about this question from Rick. Does Travis Kelce get engaged at the end of the season? I'm just kidding. It says, does Travis Kelce retire after this season? [00:24:47] Speaker B: He should have retired this year, honestly. [00:24:50] Speaker A: So. [00:24:50] Speaker B: Yes, I think he does. [00:24:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I think he probably will now. [00:24:54] Speaker C: You think he plays in the 2026 regular season? [00:24:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:58] Speaker C: Wow. Okay. [00:25:01] Speaker B: Why? [00:25:01] Speaker C: Silly. [00:25:03] Speaker B: He's. He was. His definitely the last two years has gone down in production. [00:25:07] Speaker C: Like, has he been hit in the head too many times? Is that what you're betting on? That he's dumb? [00:25:11] Speaker A: No. [00:25:12] Speaker C: Like, why would you keep playing? [00:25:14] Speaker B: Even if he comes back and has a good year, I don't even think it's going to be a. Like one of his best. [00:25:20] Speaker C: Why would you come back to play football? [00:25:22] Speaker A: Why would you play football? [00:25:23] Speaker C: More work and way less money when you could just retire and you could have a more lucrative, more exciting and fun and relaxing career. [00:25:33] Speaker A: Guys, be gladiators. [00:25:35] Speaker C: He doesn't need to. He's already proven himself fully. [00:25:38] Speaker A: There's so many people that don't need to. But do. [00:25:41] Speaker C: Yeah, but not everybody is a bonafide celebrity and ready to take their acting gigs and podcasting gigs and lucrative deals that are less work and more money. [00:25:50] Speaker B: I'm gonna. I don't know if I can side on you on this. I think he's gonna retire, but not because of those things. I think it's because he's gonna feel like his body is worn down and he's just not playing at the high level. [00:26:00] Speaker C: Oh, come on. Yeah, it's a factor. Come on. He's got things lined up that are way easier and more lucrative. Why would you not take it? [00:26:09] Speaker B: He can not. [00:26:10] Speaker A: Everything's about money. [00:26:11] Speaker B: Same. Yeah, it's the same reason a lot. [00:26:12] Speaker C: Of things are about money. [00:26:13] Speaker B: This is nonsense. Because Tom Brady was the exact same. You could have said the same thing about Tom Brady. Why is he not retiring? He has. He did. [00:26:22] Speaker C: Tom Brady can't act. I mean. [00:26:25] Speaker B: No, but he did have lucrative if he wanted to the year he retired. I. He could have retired mid season. Some broadcasting booth would have put him in there by the. Before the season was done. [00:26:41] Speaker A: So somebody sure you didn't see Happy Gilmore, too, because you don't see any movies when they come out. You wait, like, three years. He didn't really act well in that either. Tom Brady can't act. Like. Neither can Travis Kelsey. [00:26:58] Speaker C: I know, but he wants to, so. [00:26:59] Speaker A: I wanted to act, too. [00:27:01] Speaker C: Does that mean you're not a celebrity? [00:27:02] Speaker A: I want to be a number one podcaster. [00:27:04] Speaker B: Why are we talking about Travis Kelsey? Let's move on. [00:27:06] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:27:07] Speaker B: I didn't know that was teams whose record will exceed expectations. [00:27:13] Speaker A: I got a weird one for you. [00:27:15] Speaker B: I'm off. Oh, yeah? [00:27:16] Speaker C: What? [00:27:17] Speaker A: Let me hit you with weird. [00:27:18] Speaker C: Is it the same as mine? I'm curious. [00:27:20] Speaker A: I have. Go for it. The Colts. [00:27:23] Speaker C: You're always back on the Colts. Stop it. Get out of here. You can't renew that one every season. [00:27:28] Speaker A: Oh, they have Notre Dame's old quarterback. It's one of my other hot takes that he's gonna start a game over. [00:27:35] Speaker B: I have. I have a team. [00:27:36] Speaker A: Oh, thanks for cutting me off. Go ahead. [00:27:38] Speaker B: Yeah. What? Did you want to. [00:27:39] Speaker A: No, that's all you're talking about. You're up. [00:27:41] Speaker B: Nope. I don't want to. Now. [00:27:45] Speaker A: Anthony Richardson, I think he's gonna, like, play, like, maybe two games and get traded. That's my bold take for him. [00:27:53] Speaker C: What a dumb team. Wow. [00:27:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:55] Speaker C: Okay. [00:27:57] Speaker B: I'm gonna say the Cardinals. [00:27:59] Speaker A: Oh, Arizona. [00:28:00] Speaker C: I like it. [00:28:01] Speaker B: We don't. We didn't. We didn't really talk about them last year. You know, for obvious reasons. We were flaccid on them, but. [00:28:11] Speaker C: Thank you. [00:28:13] Speaker A: Re. [00:28:13] Speaker B: Listen to the previous episode, my friends. [00:28:16] Speaker C: If you must, if you must. [00:28:18] Speaker B: But I. I feel like towards the end and kind of like there was some, like, spurts of the old Kyler Murray that we were kind of used to seeing when he had his, like, couple of years where he was, like, so good doing his Yoda. Yoda stuff, all that. I think they got some potential over there. They. They do have Marvin Harrison Jr. Over there that I think maybe didn't really have as much opportunities to blossom. I think they're going to do all right. I wouldn't. I was about to say maybe they'll go to the playoffs, but I don't know if I want to go on record. [00:28:54] Speaker A: We're about to get spicy. [00:28:56] Speaker C: It was a bit tough, but it could happen. They always, every season, make you think that they might. I'm going Raiders. I think Pete Carroll might still have something in his bag. [00:29:06] Speaker A: Wow. [00:29:07] Speaker C: And obviously they're still starting my favorite quarterback. And maybe this Ashton Genti character has a breakout in his first season. This could be cool. They resigned Max Brock, Bowers. There's pieces to work with down in Raider Nation. We could see something interesting. What if old Pete still got, you know, what he used to have? [00:29:30] Speaker B: I don't feel like he ever lost it. [00:29:33] Speaker A: I think Seattle just wanted to restart. [00:29:35] Speaker B: Yeah, they were fine when he was over there. Still. It's not like they were terrible. [00:29:39] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:29:40] Speaker C: Anyway, that's. [00:29:42] Speaker A: I like that. [00:29:42] Speaker C: We've each named a team that we think will exceed expectations. You have similarly a team that will underperform this year relative to what people expect. [00:29:51] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean I'm sticking with Vikings. I think they're going to be last in that division. I just don't think JJ is going to be able to start after being out for so long. Like that says a lot to me. Like being out of the game for that long, especially injury wise. How about you, Ian? [00:30:10] Speaker B: I feel like the Bears are going to underperform only and the re the biggest reason I'm saying they're going to understand based on hype. Yeah, I think they're going to be. Everyone's so excited about Ben Johnson going over there and some of the moves they've made that I just don't think they can actually live up to it. And I do think that they're going to kind of come down to earth and you're gonna see like oh yeah, they're in a rebuild. This is going to be rough. Like this is going to be hard and I do have another team. Can I give two teams here do it. I think commanders as well. [00:30:44] Speaker A: A little back to reality. [00:30:45] Speaker B: Yeah, they had an amazing year last year but the tapes out on Jaden Daniels, he's probably still going to be good. I'm not going to deny that that guy was unreal last year for a rookie and you wouldn't have known he was a rookie. So I don't want to say that they're going to like implode or by any stretch of the imagination like that. I still think they're a playoff caliber team and they could definitely do make some noise like they did last year. But I do think there's going to be a reality check on them. [00:31:15] Speaker A: Kyle. [00:31:16] Speaker C: I'll just say the Buccaneers, they lost their oc. I think that they'll step back a little bit. I think they exceeded expectations last season. It's a dose of reality. So I'm going Bucks real quick. Two teams name them. They finished with the best and worst records in the. In the Season, real quick. Two teams, no analysis. Just name the teams. Best and worst. [00:31:37] Speaker A: Ravens. Are you gonna say Ravens? [00:31:41] Speaker C: You're gonna say they have the worst record in the NFL? [00:31:43] Speaker A: Best. [00:31:44] Speaker C: There's. Oh, best. Oh, okay. [00:31:46] Speaker B: We can say for both. We can just say it's like a unit. We say the Ravens. [00:31:50] Speaker C: Okay. [00:31:52] Speaker B: Worst. [00:31:57] Speaker A: That dead air, that's just hard to fill, isn't it? [00:32:00] Speaker B: Browns, maybe. [00:32:01] Speaker A: I'm gonna go Dolphins. [00:32:04] Speaker C: Dang. No way. Are you kidding me? You pick them to go to the super bowl every season. [00:32:10] Speaker A: I'm done with them. [00:32:11] Speaker C: You can't be done with them. [00:32:13] Speaker B: That's like beyond done. [00:32:15] Speaker A: That's like, we can talk about. I mean, one of the things that I really have been turned off by is McDaniel. Like, I'm done with him. Like, he has lost me as much as he has lost that locker room. A lot of the ways that players have been speaking about him and their GM and their coaching staff as a whole, when it comes to players that leave, like, the way that they were treated and like, almost like second rate citizens on their team and that they gave value to people who weren't culture. People that gave culture value to, like, Tyreek Hill. And then Hibber raids Tyreek Hill in front of the media and then behind closed doors, praises him. He's doing the same thing now. He ripped him to shreds to end the season, and now he's a totally different person. And Tyreek went to three different events this summer as a endorser of the Miami Dolphins and the way that we do football. And now he's. Everything's great. And he's. No, no, he's. He's. He's not. He's just fast. Okay? Like, please don't. Don't make every person a captain. Like, he's going to throw a C on his chest. And I. I'm just done with it. Like, I'm over the shoes with Stockx tags on it. I'm over the $700 glasses. I'm over him thinking he's smarter than everybody when they have a quarterback that can't stay healthy. I'm fully against the Dolphins. [00:33:48] Speaker C: Wow, that's crazy. [00:33:50] Speaker B: Against. [00:33:51] Speaker C: I love it. I love it, though, actually. That's. That's exciting. Bring the fire. [00:33:55] Speaker A: I'm done with them. Like, you will. I. You will see me. I will not pick them. [00:34:00] Speaker C: Okay. Okay. All right. This is going to be an interesting season, folks. We got. Marshall's done with the Dolphins. You've been listening for a few seasons. [00:34:07] Speaker A: I love. That was so bad. [00:34:10] Speaker B: Let's go to this last one here. [00:34:11] Speaker C: All right. I didn't. I don't think I put my. I don't think I put mine in. [00:34:14] Speaker B: Oh yeah? What do you have? [00:34:15] Speaker C: I don't know. I'll just, I'll just. I'll just be counter. I'll go like. [00:34:19] Speaker A: Oh, you're gonna say Dolphins are gonna have the best. [00:34:21] Speaker C: I'll say Bill Giants. Oh yeah, something like that. Oh, that's good. [00:34:26] Speaker B: Who's a quarterback that's gonna shock the world? Good or bad? I got one. [00:34:31] Speaker C: Okay. [00:34:32] Speaker B: Pennix. [00:34:34] Speaker A: I like that. [00:34:35] Speaker C: I. Okay, that's pretty good. [00:34:36] Speaker B: I. We didn't really like that. We didn't see a lot of him last year, but I think in a good way. In a good way, not in a bad way. [00:34:45] Speaker A: So I'm gonna say I can't give mine because it's my hot take. [00:34:48] Speaker B: You have way too many hot takes that are related to this. [00:34:50] Speaker A: Yeah, no, they are united. So. [00:34:54] Speaker B: Okay, we'll skip Marshall for now. [00:34:56] Speaker A: Kyle, how about yourself, quarterback? That's going to shock everybody. Light the world on fire. [00:35:01] Speaker C: Shock the world. [00:35:02] Speaker A: I think we're due for Go Cam or Tennessee. [00:35:08] Speaker C: How about let's just make it fun and say like Burrow has a terrible year. [00:35:12] Speaker A: Oh, you went opposite. Okay, cool. [00:35:15] Speaker C: Somebody had to come on. [00:35:17] Speaker A: Sorry. [00:35:20] Speaker C: Somebody's got to be negative on this podcast. [00:35:22] Speaker B: Someone's got to bring one of these really good quarterbacks in and just say, I forgot I don't like him. So I'm gonna say, bro, I hate. [00:35:30] Speaker C: Myself for doing it. [00:35:31] Speaker A: We're gonna, we're gonna skip down to Tim DeWitt. He just rapid fired some hot takes. I want you to listen to all of them. [00:35:40] Speaker C: Can we throw them in the time capsule too? [00:35:42] Speaker A: Yeah, Tim, you got your own segment. Like we carved out a portion of our time capsule. It's just for you. Go through them. I'm gonna pick. We each get to pick one that's like that one. Legitimately laugh. Do not laugh while he reads them. Go ahead. [00:35:56] Speaker B: Bills will finally be Kansas City in the playoffs. I don't hate that 1. Detroit vs Philly in the NFC championship game leading to a Lions, Bills, Super Bowl. [00:36:06] Speaker A: Okay, keep going. [00:36:08] Speaker B: Jmo breakout year. I feel like that was last year. But maybe J goes better. 10 maybe becomes better. I can see that. Gibbs leading rusher. [00:36:20] Speaker A: Okay, keep going. [00:36:22] Speaker B: Ravens will choke again in the playoffs. [00:36:25] Speaker A: Okay, I love that one. [00:36:27] Speaker B: Love Jordan. Love will be average at best in the pack with them. Okay. McCarthy will shine for the Vikings and Bears will be a 500 club at best. [00:36:43] Speaker C: Nice. [00:36:44] Speaker A: It's impossible to be 500. Mr. DeWitt, there's 17 games. [00:36:49] Speaker B: No, no, no. [00:36:50] Speaker A: Checkmate. [00:36:50] Speaker B: No, no, no. [00:36:51] Speaker A: At best. Don't give me those last two. [00:36:53] Speaker C: That's the over. [00:36:53] Speaker B: Under eight and one. [00:36:56] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:36:57] Speaker B: You know what? [00:36:58] Speaker A: You're saying the Bears are gonna tie a game? [00:37:00] Speaker B: I'm gonna say yes. [00:37:01] Speaker A: All right. Exactly. 500. [00:37:04] Speaker C: Oh, my. [00:37:04] Speaker B: They're gonna go a 8 and 1. [00:37:06] Speaker C: That'd be legendary. [00:37:07] Speaker A: That'd be a great call. I wonder how much money you could get if you bet like 10 bucks on that to be right. [00:37:12] Speaker B: I think maybe I should. Maybe I should just. [00:37:14] Speaker A: Maybe you should. [00:37:14] Speaker C: Yeah. Do it. [00:37:16] Speaker A: Kyle, how about you? Of those takes, which one stood out the most to you? [00:37:20] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't know. I don't even know anything. These are. These are pretty line centric, but I think the. I'm. I. I would love to see McCarthy shine for the Vikings. That's cool. I really like that. That's really positive. Mr. DeWitt, thanks for bringing something that's. [00:37:35] Speaker A: Like not lying specific. [00:37:38] Speaker B: He's pro. I feel like this is getting based on Michigan. [00:37:40] Speaker A: He's a Michigan guy. [00:37:41] Speaker B: He does like Michigan. But on top of that, the o' Connell QB whisperer thing probably feels like he's gonna be able to make it. I mean, he made Sam Darnold work, so. [00:37:53] Speaker C: Right, Right. [00:37:54] Speaker A: I really like Gibbs being the leading rusher. [00:37:56] Speaker B: I like that one, too. [00:37:58] Speaker A: As somebody who's gonna get back into fantasy for the first time in ten years. [00:38:04] Speaker C: All right. Looking forward to that team. We. Oh, we definitely got to mention that at the end of the episode, we gotta. [00:38:08] Speaker A: Let's do it right now. Tell the people what's going on. [00:38:10] Speaker C: If you're listening, folks, listen up. We. Every season. Not every season. I guess we've done it a couple. [00:38:16] Speaker A: Times for two seasons. [00:38:18] Speaker C: This is a new. This is now a tradition. The Point After Community. We have an NFL fantasy league and we want you to be a part of it. Listen to this show. Think about how awesome it would be to be in a fantasy league with us. Ian. [00:38:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:38:36] Speaker C: Marshall, Kyle, you guys are going slightly off script. [00:38:43] Speaker A: You guys are 1 percenters. [00:38:45] Speaker C: Imagine how fun that would be. So the Point After Fantasy League is open to only listeners of this show. You have to be an active listener, a true fan. [00:38:56] Speaker A: And so a couple people that are signed up, signed, sealed, delivered in, they're ready. [00:39:00] Speaker C: Some of those names that you hear on the regular in our mailbag section who are loyal supporters of this show keep us going. They're the reason that we do this now. We're going to be competing directly against you in fantasy and you can find out whether you are better with your football knowledge than some professional NFL podcast hosts. [00:39:18] Speaker B: Are you better than Ian DeWitt picking games? Someone who's never won the point after. [00:39:26] Speaker C: Competition that front and never won. Fancy either. Or come close for that matter. But will you be better? [00:39:33] Speaker A: If you're interested, please reach out to one of the three of us and we can't wait to hear from you. [00:39:37] Speaker C: Please. [00:39:37] Speaker A: Our last take or question comes from Ben Learned writes in Micah Parsons to the Lions. Please and thank you. Yeah, please. That just makes me smile. Micah Parsons. I don't know if anybody has been watching pseudo news. Yeah, not pseudo. Very, very real. He's going to take 24. $24 million from the Cowboys. And he is sitting out. He is sitting in. I'm sorry. He's going to all of these practices and not practicing so he doesn't get fined, which is the new thing. I think that might become a new thing in the CBA where they're like, if you come to practice, you need to practice. You can't just, like, show up and then not get fined. Like, or they got to do it, make it funnier. Like, get a couch and just sit. [00:40:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:40:24] Speaker A: Legitimately. [00:40:25] Speaker C: I love it. I love it. [00:40:26] Speaker A: But a lot of the news that's been coming out is Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons. Jerry Jones has been doing a lot of terrible contracts. He's doing a lot of negotiating with players without their agents. And apparently there was a handshake agreement between. Between Micah and Jerry Jones last year. And Jerry called the agent, said, this is what the deal was. And he said, I haven't talked to my player about that. The agent said that. And he said, that's not our deal. And there's been a lot of friction ever since then. I heard a take about Jerry Jones that I really have agreed with. Dominique Foxworth of ESPN talks a lot about how the Cowboys love being in the news. We talk about them every. Every place does. And the fact that they are going to. He's always paid the people down the road. He will always pay them. Name any player. He hasn't. There's not a lot of them. [00:41:17] Speaker C: Right. [00:41:18] Speaker A: But Heath, Jerry Jones. The take is that Jerry Jones equates that to, we're always in the news. It pays for itself. You know, if I'm going to pay it, whether I pay 80 million now or 85 next year, that $5 million is made up by everybody talking about us, which, I mean, I Don't think really equates to $5 million, but that's how sadistic that Jerry Jones is. I heard another person talk about how if God came to Jerry Jones and said, I will let you have the next super bowl, but you're not allowed to have a press conference after any game, and they will not give you credit for it. Do you want the Super Bowl? And he's like, I know Jerry Jones. He'd say, hell no. Which I think is just a great freaking true. It's so funny to think about, but Micah Parsons, after being made. Made kind of the butt of a joke in front of the media by Jerry Jones where his. Jerry Jones's son consistently has to cut off his old man during press conferences to backtrack for him. And Micah Parsons was done with it. He formally requested a trade. And you. I think in terms of what Ian's saying, and maybe I'm wrong. The pseudo part of this news is he's gonna get a deal. He's gonna end up playing. It's not really going to mean anything. That's a guy that should be making more than myles Garrett, than T.J. watt. He's younger than them. Right. That guy is had. He's the best defensive player in Cowboys that they've had since. Who. Can you name me one? [00:42:50] Speaker C: If you had to pick for your own franchise one defensive player, like if we were drafting defensive players from the NFL and you could pick anybody, who would you pick above him? I don't even know. He's so young. [00:43:01] Speaker B: Parsons. I mean. Yeah. The only other one that might. You'd probably. [00:43:09] Speaker A: Dion was a Cowboys great. [00:43:10] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, right. [00:43:11] Speaker A: Sorry. [00:43:12] Speaker C: Right. [00:43:12] Speaker B: I mean, the only thing I was going to say is maybe Hutch. But Hutch got injured, so you're actually probably safer taking Parsons because, you know he's going to be relatively healthy. [00:43:20] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. He's been fantastic. Maybe those would be fair choices. [00:43:23] Speaker B: And T.J. watt, as good as he's been, has also been a little injury. [00:43:26] Speaker C: Prone and it's late in his career. [00:43:28] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:29] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:43:29] Speaker C: Anyway, that's not. That's not so much the point. But he'll. He'll get his money. They. They also, to your point, but Ben. [00:43:36] Speaker A: Are. Is Ben right? [00:43:37] Speaker B: Gosh, can you imagine? [00:43:39] Speaker A: Would you be good with that? [00:43:41] Speaker B: Are you kidding? Hutch. [00:43:44] Speaker A: What if they gave. [00:43:45] Speaker C: We can just skip straight to this. [00:43:46] Speaker A: What if they gave up J. O in the next two first. [00:43:50] Speaker B: Done. [00:43:51] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:43:52] Speaker B: Done. Okay. [00:43:53] Speaker A: I like it. [00:43:55] Speaker B: Parsons is that kind of player where you would want that, especially on the defensive side. And you know what they say? I live. [00:44:02] Speaker A: What do they say? [00:44:06] Speaker B: Defenses win championship games, Man. I'm just saying I'm going to live by that logic. I stand by that. The way everything played out last year, too. [00:44:16] Speaker C: So the Lions, I mean, I don't. I hope it doesn't happen, but the Lions could afford to take a step back in offense, but if they took a big step forward on defense, they are. [00:44:24] Speaker B: It would be huge. [00:44:25] Speaker C: They are championship contenders without question. [00:44:27] Speaker A: Right. [00:44:28] Speaker B: That's why everybody, especially mid season last year was so hyped on them because they were dominant on both sides of the ball. [00:44:34] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:44:34] Speaker B: And then all the universe happened. Let's talk about a little bit last year. What do we got coming up next year? [00:44:40] Speaker A: Our time capsule. Let's hop into it. Are we there about last year? Are we there yet? [00:44:44] Speaker C: All right, all right. This is our annual tradition where we get in the time capsule. We're gonna get out the ship shovels. All right. Dig in the ground, you guys. Yeah, well, watch out. There's a rock. Oh, there's a tree root. Oh, you're landing in the wrong place. Oh, there's the time capsule. Let's lift it out, dust the dirt off and open it up. What do we have inside? A lot of bad predictions. Thank you, guys. [00:45:02] Speaker B: Some of them were bad. Some of them weren't too bad. [00:45:05] Speaker C: Let's take a look at some of the things that we went on the record saying on our very show one year ago. [00:45:15] Speaker B: Was that who wants to be a Millionaire Sound. Yeah, we can do that. [00:45:18] Speaker C: Yeah, we can do that. That works. That works. We're back. We said a lot of things. I'm gonna run through some of them real quick. One was some of these were just mailbag questions, so they weren't like our official picks. But we made these predictions anyways in that predictions episode, so I included them in the time capsule. We'll go through those as a primary. First we predicted which players would get the most fantasy points in the regular season. And we each kind of like said for each position, these are the players that we would go with. And we were wrong on every single one. [00:45:50] Speaker B: I would be curious to know how off we were though. [00:45:54] Speaker C: Mostly pretty off now. Ian picked Josh Allen. I picked Jalen Hurts. Marshall picked Patrick Mahomes for quarterback. None of them were the top. Lamar Jackson actually got the most fantasy points for shout out. We all said McCaffrey is a no. [00:46:09] Speaker B: Brainer that just did not pass pan out at all. Saquon, I'm sure. [00:46:16] Speaker C: Actually it. It might have been it was either Saquon or Gibbs. I got to look that up. But it was. I can say it was not McAffrey. It was not McAffrey. [00:46:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:46:23] Speaker B: Definitely not McAfrey. [00:46:24] Speaker C: For wide receiver, I picked Tyreek Marshall, picked CD Lamb and picked Amara St. Brown. And actually Amara was like up there in one of the better ones. But Jamar Chase was. Was far and away that I feel. [00:46:38] Speaker B: Like on the qb, Josh Allen was pretty high up there too. He had a great year. [00:46:43] Speaker C: I was the only one who officially picked a tight end. [00:46:45] Speaker A: I said Sam laporta I like not officially picking us. Yeah. [00:46:49] Speaker C: You guys didn't actually name a name, but I'm pretty sure the top tight end was like Brock Powers or something. [00:46:54] Speaker A: Kicker for Kyle. [00:46:56] Speaker C: I put down the. The Lion's guy, but I think it was. It was the. [00:47:03] Speaker A: Yeah, it's Motel. [00:47:06] Speaker C: I think the top points getter was. [00:47:07] Speaker B: The Steelers, Justin Tucker. [00:47:10] Speaker C: And no one but me picked a defense. I put down the Ravens. They were not that. They were not the top point skating team. So we were wrong on everything. In fact, in most cases, we weren't even close. We listed our top five quarterbacks, but that wasn't so much a prediction. So we don't really need to get into that. I'm going to. [00:47:27] Speaker A: Let's get to some of our takes. [00:47:28] Speaker C: I'm going to skip over that. Here's some of the takes. Ian went and said this was so. [00:47:34] Speaker B: Oh, man. This one. [00:47:37] Speaker C: We talked about JJ McCarthy and the Vikings prospects. Ian, unprompted, said Sam Darnold is gonna. This. You were saying that this is gonna be a good situation for J.J. mcCarthy. It was great for him because they're gonna try out Sam Darnold and he's gonna suck and he's gonna get booed off the field. [00:47:51] Speaker A: Booed off the field. [00:47:52] Speaker C: And then JJ Is gonna get brought. [00:47:54] Speaker B: In now, while he didn't get booed those last two games. I am. Are you gonna try. [00:48:01] Speaker C: You're gonna try and say that you weren't. You do this every time. [00:48:04] Speaker B: I just take the L. I take the L. I received the fact that I was wrong. [00:48:10] Speaker A: Wrong. Don't say but to start this next sentence, but. Oh, you. [00:48:15] Speaker B: He. Those last two games he played, I am convinced, significantly lowered what the amount of money that he ended up getting. So obviously I was wrong in the fact that he clearly played lights out. Amazing. [00:48:30] Speaker A: But the original next one, Kyle. [00:48:34] Speaker B: No, but. [00:48:37] Speaker A: I like this one. Ian says, I think the jets will be mediocre. Aaron Rodgers will be an upgrade from Zach Wilson. I actually don't think he was. Aaron, you're on a first name basis. Will continue to bring a lot of drama to the team. You were right on that. Good job. [00:48:51] Speaker B: I feel like most of that take is correct. [00:48:52] Speaker C: All of that take is correct. What is wrong about that? There's nothing wrong about that. Zach Wilson was historically one of the worst quarterbacks the NFL has seen starting for. [00:48:59] Speaker B: And the years started off pretty bad for Rogers, but down the stretch, they actually did get better. [00:49:04] Speaker C: He was fine. He was like slightly below average. [00:49:07] Speaker A: I think in the games, though, there was a lot of stats that's said. You're basically what Zach Wilson was last year. [00:49:12] Speaker C: Yeah, it was there. You can cherry pick some metrics, but if grading as a whole, it was probably like the 20th best quarterback in the NFL, which Zach Wilson never approached. [00:49:23] Speaker A: Give us our next one. Kyle, what were you really right about? [00:49:25] Speaker C: I was way the heck off when I said the Broncos will be the worst team in the NFL. [00:49:30] Speaker B: Yeah. Went to the playoffs. [00:49:32] Speaker C: They actually went to the playoffs. Was kind of good. [00:49:36] Speaker A: You love rookie quarterbacks. [00:49:37] Speaker C: Pat Surtan won Defensive Player of the Year Mirror. [00:49:40] Speaker B: I forgot about that. [00:49:41] Speaker A: Wow, that's crazy. [00:49:43] Speaker B: So he shouldn't have. We all know who should have won that. [00:49:48] Speaker C: I know in this alternate reality, I said that Harbaugh will not immediately turn the Chargers around. [00:49:56] Speaker A: Good job. [00:49:57] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna stand by that. I guess I think it takes more time to turn. To turn a team into like a winning. [00:50:04] Speaker B: It's not like they didn't get completely turned around, but they weren't. Yeah. I mean, I guess you're. I guess that's right. [00:50:10] Speaker C: Yeah. That's a fuzzy take. Ian said the packers will end up in fourth place in the NFC North. [00:50:15] Speaker B: I was close. [00:50:17] Speaker A: Yeah, right. [00:50:18] Speaker B: They were one. They were four. [00:50:20] Speaker A: They were third. [00:50:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:50:23] Speaker C: A listener wrote in and asked who will be the starting quarterback for the Niners. A year ago, it was actually. Do you guys remember? This was like a debate. And they had like three rostered quarterbacks and it was like, who's they going to start? We all said purdy and we were right. No big deal. My oldest son wrote in and asked us, like, who would beat who in these games? And most of those didn't actually occur in this regular season. Like, would the Lions beat the Bengals or something? [00:50:44] Speaker A: I love that. [00:50:45] Speaker C: But you know the line we did. He did say Lions versus Packers. Who would win? And we all said the Lions would beat the packers and we were all right. [00:50:52] Speaker A: Wow. [00:50:54] Speaker C: We're so good at this that I Think is the last thing that we were right about. Oh, boy. [00:51:01] Speaker A: Buckle up, Ian. [00:51:02] Speaker C: After that, Ian and Marshall went on a limb and said the Lions are going to the Super Bowl. And then Marshall said the Dolphins are going to the super bowl. And then Ian said the Ravens are going to the Super Bowl. [00:51:15] Speaker B: Mine weren't that awful. Okay, that Dolphins pick is really bad. I can understand your hatred now. [00:51:24] Speaker A: I'm done with. [00:51:25] Speaker C: Well, he had made the same prediction in 2023. As a matter of fact, it's off season prediction. So I'm sad that you did. [00:51:31] Speaker A: I'm learning, I'm learning. [00:51:33] Speaker C: All right, all right, all right, all right. Then we got into our official hot takes. These are the ones we came prepared with. They were not in response to a listener question or anything. So I brought. [00:51:42] Speaker A: Hold on. These are the things that like, we prepared. I don't. Okay, like the other ones were just like willy nilly, like pulled out of my pocket. You're not going to hold it to me. These are the ones like you said, give a take. And we gave some legitimate. I took time out of my summer. [00:51:58] Speaker C: Correct. [00:51:59] Speaker B: To think about this, to think about th. [00:52:01] Speaker A: Anything. And then like, oh, this is definitely going to happen. It'll be a little spicy, but I'm going to put some time and effort and thought into this. [00:52:08] Speaker C: Well, that's true. That's true. But our parameters were still willy nilly. [00:52:12] Speaker A: Hot take with anybody. [00:52:13] Speaker B: I feel thought about these. [00:52:15] Speaker C: We did. [00:52:16] Speaker B: I feel like you're. This is like a way so you can be like, so don't insult. [00:52:20] Speaker A: No, it's actually more like how big of idiots we are. [00:52:25] Speaker C: Well, we did have the parameters here. We. We were required to bring hot ones. None of us can come and say, I think. I think the Bills might be a good team. Whoopi do like, we had to come with something that was the odds statistically or against. And we did that pretty well. [00:52:43] Speaker B: I do want a ruling on stage. Some of these. And I will stay out of the ruling. I will let you guys rule on. [00:52:50] Speaker C: Whether it was right or not. [00:52:52] Speaker B: Whether, like if it was like way off base or maybe you were close. [00:52:55] Speaker C: Some of them are fuzzy. Let's. [00:52:57] Speaker B: We'll. [00:52:57] Speaker C: We'll go into that. We'll go into that. [00:52:59] Speaker A: So I see your first one. [00:53:00] Speaker C: I can, I can do my first one. My prediction overall was a. Was a little bit of a dire tribe on why I thought that the Dallas Cowboys would be the most changed franchise between one year ago and today. Overwhelmingly, that was incorrect. I'd given myself like 5 or 10% correct. Because I did predict that it would be the last season with Mike McCarthy. Other than that, I did predict that Jerry Jones would be conceding general management duties to his son, that the Dak would go to another team, that all their really bad and jumbled contract situations would come back to bite them. It didn't really that much. And they're doing the same dance this year, and I should be learning my lesson. So I was pretty much wrong. They're very much the same team that they were a year ago, just with a new coach. So that was one of my takes. I talked a lot about longer about it last year than I will this time. You guys want to share one of yours? [00:53:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Mine was that the Bills don't even make the playoffs. They'll fire Sean McDermott and the Dolphins will move up. [00:54:06] Speaker C: Oh, boy. [00:54:07] Speaker A: I'm an idiot. Man. Ian, nice drive. Hit us with 20 years. [00:54:13] Speaker B: I'll go. So Texans take a step backwards. Stroud will regress. Diggs going there. It's not a great idea. They'll miss the playoffs, obviously. They didn't miss the playoffs. They won a playoff game. [00:54:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:54:24] Speaker B: And the only ruling here would be, obviously, most of this. Well, I would say Stroud regressing. He wasn't as good as he was his rookie year. [00:54:35] Speaker A: It was the best rookie season of all time. Right, so. [00:54:37] Speaker B: Well, yeah, I mean, it was up there. [00:54:39] Speaker C: Yeah, it was up there. Yeah. [00:54:40] Speaker B: Pretty good. [00:54:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:54:41] Speaker B: I would have to. Actually. I don't know the numbers, so I don't know if I can comment on that, but I. So he did regress. But, you know, obviously, everything else being wrong about the Texans. Obviously, I thought they. I did. The spirit of the take was I thought they would be worse than what they were, and they were not. [00:54:56] Speaker C: So they were literally the same. 10 and 7 both seasons. [00:54:59] Speaker B: They were pretty much the same. [00:55:00] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. [00:55:01] Speaker B: I got my second one. [00:55:03] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:55:04] Speaker B: I got my second one. Since we're right here. Part of this. [00:55:08] Speaker C: Okay. [00:55:08] Speaker B: You know, I'll just say it. [00:55:09] Speaker A: Say it. [00:55:09] Speaker B: Harbaugh or Tomlin will move on from their teams. Obviously, neither of those two things happened. I will still stand by the fact that I do think one of those things should have happened, and I stand by. [00:55:23] Speaker A: You think John Harbaugh should be fired? [00:55:25] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:55:26] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:55:28] Speaker B: I. I obviously, I have vocalized on numerous times that I feel like Steelers and Tomlin need a fresh start for both of them. [00:55:36] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:55:36] Speaker B: It's not that either organization or the player or the coach is bad. It's just I think they're in a lull and they need something to. They need to. They just need something new. [00:55:45] Speaker C: It's not a crazy take. How many years do you have to go with basically the same result? Like, I've really like before. What other teams have had more consistently the same result year after year than that franchise? [00:55:58] Speaker B: I've said this before, but Tomlin, if people, kids, I take like the fact that I teach middle schoolers, those kids, when they're talking about football, they only know the Steelers as like a very mediocre team that hasn't won a super. Hasn't won a playoff game. [00:56:15] Speaker C: Most other fan bases feel like they're riding a roller coaster. As a fan. [00:56:20] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:56:20] Speaker C: Steelers fans are riding a train because it's the same thing. [00:56:24] Speaker B: It's the same thing. [00:56:25] Speaker C: It's really the same thing. [00:56:26] Speaker B: They want some thrills. [00:56:28] Speaker C: They want to ride the roller coaster. It looks fun. [00:56:31] Speaker B: It's fun for a little bit. And then you're like, there's some really big lulls in that roller coaster. Anyways, that's. That was that one. [00:56:39] Speaker A: My other hot take was ranking the AFC north was going to be Vikings, Packers, Bears, Lions. It was completely wrong. It went Lions, Vikings, Packers, Bears. So. [00:56:51] Speaker C: And yet you're renewing that exact take, aren't you? [00:56:53] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:56:53] Speaker A: Okay, we're back at it, so bring it back. [00:56:57] Speaker C: Okay. My other take was between that pod and this pod, one of the NFL teams would officially begin the process of going up for sale to a new owner. And I nominated five different teams that I thought were reasonably likely with some rationale behind it. [00:57:17] Speaker B: Do you remember what those teams were? [00:57:19] Speaker C: Yeah, the. Those teams were Browns, Chargers, Seahawks, Saints and Bears. And the closest I am to correct is the Bears. Virginia House has passed and the Bears officially, as of last month, are shopping around for someone to take a new minority stake and by an unknown exact amount, but a minority stake in the Bears franchise. So they're actually seeking a new investor in the team to take over partial ownership. It's not a full takeover. The Halas team is believed to own like 80% of the franchise, so it'll still be owned by the Halas family. But it's something. And I do think that we are approaching pretty soon, fairly soon. A time when the Saints and the Seahawks are likely to sell. And that's going to be very interesting. [00:58:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think your take. I don't think that was a bad take, especially because something did happen in that realm. [00:58:17] Speaker A: So we also had a lot of predictions when it came to awards, whether it's awards like the super bowl or awards like the mvp. And we didn't do all that great there either. [00:58:32] Speaker C: You guys already shared your super bowl winners and losers up in a previous take saying that wherever. Wherever it was. Yeah. [00:58:41] Speaker A: And, Kyle, yours is. [00:58:43] Speaker C: Was who I threw down. My answer to that classic question was Ravens over Niners. Wow. Niners fell pretty far. [00:58:52] Speaker A: A lot of injuries. [00:58:54] Speaker C: We put down our league MVP predictions. [00:58:57] Speaker B: None of which were right. [00:58:58] Speaker C: None of which were actually even very close. I put in Patrick Mahomes as my vote. Marshall said Christopher McCaffrey, and Ian said Jared Goff. [00:59:10] Speaker A: Are you okay? Are you dying right now? [00:59:12] Speaker B: The only reason I was the closest was because he was in the. Running down the stretch. He. His name was in there. Everybody knew he wasn't gonna win. [00:59:22] Speaker C: All right, everybody. So you were closer than us, but it's not like he got votes. [00:59:26] Speaker A: Yep. You only sank and died five minutes after us. [00:59:30] Speaker B: Listen, listen. [00:59:31] Speaker C: Right. [00:59:31] Speaker A: Offensive rookie of the year. [00:59:33] Speaker C: I called out Roma Dun, wide receiver for the Bears. You both said, Marvin Harrison Jr. Without hesitation. [00:59:39] Speaker A: Yeah. And he was not that great. [00:59:41] Speaker C: Defensive rookie of the year. None of us had an answer to. [00:59:44] Speaker A: This question for Ian. [00:59:47] Speaker C: He said, that Vikings guy. [00:59:50] Speaker A: You'Re like, who's that guy that got drafted by the Vikings? The defensive player? And none of us knew. And you're like, that's who's going to win it. [00:59:56] Speaker B: And then you stop talking about it. Who did actually win that one? [01:00:00] Speaker C: I think it was Jared Verse for the Rams. [01:00:02] Speaker B: Yeah, that was that. Who's the other guy over there with the Rams? [01:00:05] Speaker A: It's Fisk or Frisk Wilson. Yeah, I like him. [01:00:11] Speaker C: I don't know. Defensive player of the year. I said Sauce Gardner. Ian said Aiden Hutchinson. And Marshall said, Miles Garrett. Yeah, those are reasonable. [01:00:20] Speaker A: I was guessing pretty close, Ian. [01:00:22] Speaker C: I was at least right on the position. [01:00:26] Speaker B: I feel like I could have been right. [01:00:28] Speaker A: Oh, too bad. Yeah. [01:00:29] Speaker C: Pastor Dan, he was. [01:00:30] Speaker B: He was on his way. [01:00:32] Speaker C: He probably would have. Player of the year, Offensive player of the year. I said CD Lamb. Ian said Christian McCaffrey. He keeps coming up. And Marshall sets DJ Stroud. [01:00:41] Speaker B: We gotta remember, just for reference here, the year prior. McCaffrey was, like, lighting it up. And that was the year he had, like, so many. Like, he was the one that everyone was. It was basically. [01:00:53] Speaker A: He was the Saquon of the year, for sure. Coach of the year. [01:00:56] Speaker B: It's not like it was unmerited. [01:00:58] Speaker A: Oh, no, no, no. I think it was unmerited. The injury that he had and how long he was out for somebody who Was statistically pretty lockstand of being a guarantee that he was going to play. [01:01:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:01:11] Speaker A: Did not miss a lot of games in his career. How about coach of the year, Kyle? [01:01:16] Speaker C: Coach of the year. I call out Dan Campbell. [01:01:19] Speaker A: He sucked last year. [01:01:21] Speaker C: I feel like he was probably the runner up. [01:01:23] Speaker A: How about yours, Ian? [01:01:26] Speaker B: I wasn't maybe on the dolphin train as much as you were, but I was on the train with Mike McDaniel. [01:01:31] Speaker A: And I gave Matt if. [01:01:33] Speaker B: Yeah, you guys were closer than I was, that's for sure. [01:01:37] Speaker A: Let's talk about. Go ahead, Ian. [01:01:40] Speaker B: For flair. [01:01:42] Speaker A: We talked a lot about last year's. All right, we were wrong. This an hour and one minute in, you get the real stuff. This is what you came here for. [01:01:51] Speaker B: This is what you want. [01:01:52] Speaker A: Lock in. [01:01:53] Speaker B: This is the real takes. [01:01:54] Speaker A: I've teased what my takes are going to be for 62 minutes right now. [01:01:58] Speaker B: 62 minutes. [01:02:00] Speaker A: That's what an hour and two minutes adds up to, Ian. [01:02:05] Speaker C: All right. [01:02:08] Speaker B: Go ahead. What is it? [01:02:10] Speaker A: Dak wins the MVP and the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl. [01:02:16] Speaker B: That is very spicy. [01:02:19] Speaker A: I lose, I actually think it'd be even funnier for them to make it and Jerry just love it and then lose. What? [01:02:26] Speaker C: Oh, you're in this for the laughs. You're in this for the last. [01:02:29] Speaker B: For the laughs. Is there, like a logic the laugh. [01:02:31] Speaker A: Is for the MVP or is for the super bowl loss? That's just something I really want for them, and I really do think Pickens being is a huge, huge pickup for them if done correctly. And yeah, I really have been wrong about the Cowboys for many years, and I'd like to be right about them one time and then I'm done. Last year, I'm pretty sure on one of our last pods, like I said, like, we should stop talking about the Cowboys. I'm not going to talk about them a lot, and I've made a lot of predictions about things that I would bet towards. That was a question Rick talked about. Like what things? I don't think I would bet this. I can only imagine what the MVP odds are for Dak right now. I might look that up right now while you guys are giving your take, but I. [01:03:18] Speaker B: Is that one or two? [01:03:19] Speaker A: I would like to see it. That's my two takes. [01:03:21] Speaker B: Okay, so mvp, Cowboys and then make. [01:03:23] Speaker A: It to the super bowl and Dak is an mvp. [01:03:26] Speaker C: Did you say who would win the super bowl over them? [01:03:31] Speaker A: The Ravens. Oh, and Lamar Jackson gets to change his number from 8 to 1. That's his whole thing. He's Waiting until he wins the super bowl and he'll change his number. [01:03:41] Speaker C: Oh, wow. [01:03:42] Speaker B: To one. [01:03:42] Speaker C: Okay. [01:03:43] Speaker A: To one. [01:03:45] Speaker C: All right. [01:03:46] Speaker B: I don't know if I like that. I hope that's not true now. [01:03:50] Speaker A: I hope it's even more true. [01:03:52] Speaker C: Why? [01:03:52] Speaker B: Just because I said that? [01:03:53] Speaker A: Exactly. [01:03:54] Speaker B: I don't know. I feel like players become associate. Like Lamar has played with the number eight for so long now. I feel like that's just like. It's kind of like a part of the brand TB12 or anything like that. Like, Aaron Rodgers wearing eight is weird to me. Yeah, it looks weird. [01:04:12] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:04:13] Speaker B: I don't actually like it. Hey, and Manning, I can't imagine wearing any other number other than 18. [01:04:17] Speaker C: Right. [01:04:18] Speaker B: It's just kind of that thing. I don't know. [01:04:20] Speaker C: I'm with you. [01:04:21] Speaker B: That's. That's. [01:04:22] Speaker A: That's my only take is get spicy out here, Kyle. [01:04:25] Speaker C: Oh, my turn for both of my takes. [01:04:27] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [01:04:27] Speaker C: Okay, Light it up. Let's see what we got. I think that. I mean, yours are pretty crazy too. So I'm saying that the Chargers will have the highest scoring offense in the NFL this year. [01:04:46] Speaker B: Wow, that's. [01:04:47] Speaker C: So that's one of my takes. I think that their offense is going to click this time around. My second take. The Point after will break our previous download record. [01:04:58] Speaker A: Breaking up. Oh. [01:05:01] Speaker C: Our previous download record hit us with whatever we will have. Our previous record was 458 downloads in May of 2024. [01:05:10] Speaker B: Wow. [01:05:10] Speaker C: So an off season pod actually was. [01:05:13] Speaker B: Our most popular episode in 2024. [01:05:16] Speaker C: Yeah. Last year maybe we did like a pre or post draft thing. I don't even know. [01:05:21] Speaker B: That's pretty good. [01:05:22] Speaker C: That's our most popular episode. [01:05:25] Speaker A: Shout out to us. [01:05:27] Speaker B: We're. [01:05:27] Speaker A: Who'd have thought? Look at us. [01:05:30] Speaker C: Yeah. So we're gonna exceed that this season. This is gonna be the best season for the Point after for downloads, and we're gonna break our record for a single. [01:05:40] Speaker A: Good. It's a good take. I'm really excited to hear Ian talk about Tony Romo in a more measured way. [01:05:48] Speaker B: More. More friendly audience, you know? All right, I got my takes. Take number one. This is my least of the spicy ones because I've already hinted at this, that I do in fact think the Rams are going to be good. And I do, in fact think that the Rams are going to the super bowl this year where they will win. [01:06:12] Speaker C: Okay. [01:06:13] Speaker B: Wow. Anybody? [01:06:15] Speaker A: I don't care. [01:06:16] Speaker B: Come on, pick a team. No, no. They're going to the Super Bowl. Rams are going to the Super Bowl. [01:06:24] Speaker A: Oh, okay. [01:06:24] Speaker B: And they're gonna win. Who is ever on their side. I don't really care who it is. [01:06:27] Speaker C: Say the Bengals. Say the Bengals. [01:06:29] Speaker B: We'll say the Bengals. Yeah. [01:06:30] Speaker A: Dang it. [01:06:31] Speaker B: We'll go with the Bengals. I like that you can put it on record. We'll have a rematch of the super bowl. And the Rams will do it again. [01:06:37] Speaker A: Give us your spicy. [01:06:38] Speaker B: Okay. And the only reason I do have a lot of logic behind that. I do actually really like their team. I like their roster. I had this taken my head before the news of Stafford was coming out, that his back was bothering him. And I don't know. I'm just gonna say he's gonna be fine, and it's gonna. [01:06:54] Speaker C: It's gonna work out nice. [01:06:56] Speaker A: It's fine. [01:06:57] Speaker C: Nothing to worry about. [01:07:01] Speaker B: He's gonna be just fine. [01:07:03] Speaker A: Degenerative back disease. Everything's fine. Great. [01:07:06] Speaker B: I just. I really like their defense. It came alive. I actually do feel like they had an opportunity to beat the Phillies last year. [01:07:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:07:14] Speaker B: And I actually felt like they could have gone last year. I actually really do feel like they could have won it last year. [01:07:19] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [01:07:19] Speaker B: They had a lot of. A lot going for them. [01:07:20] Speaker A: They did. [01:07:21] Speaker C: True. [01:07:21] Speaker A: That was a game we'll look back on and say it was a lot closer than I think. [01:07:25] Speaker B: The New England Patriots are going to go to the playoffs. I like this. Cool. People are going to go to the playoffs. [01:07:30] Speaker C: Oh, man. [01:07:31] Speaker A: You like VRA a lot. [01:07:33] Speaker C: Okay. All right. [01:07:35] Speaker A: Back, baby. [01:07:37] Speaker B: I like Vrabel. [01:07:39] Speaker A: And you think Terry McCormin's gonna go there? [01:07:41] Speaker C: Ooh. What? [01:07:43] Speaker B: Yeah, he's up. [01:07:44] Speaker A: He requested a trade. [01:07:45] Speaker B: Request for a trade. What? Another reason why the. [01:07:48] Speaker C: Say what? [01:07:48] Speaker B: Might take a step down. But I like their schedule. I think it's not too bad. [01:07:54] Speaker A: I think they're gonna schedule talk. I love it. [01:07:56] Speaker B: Hey, man. [01:07:56] Speaker A: I love you. [01:07:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And when we're all. That's all, folks. When we're on the off season and I don't have much to base it on, I can just go based off of, like, what happened last year. [01:08:08] Speaker C: Right. [01:08:08] Speaker B: I do feel like they have. You know, they're gonna. Yeah, I think they're gonna be good because. [01:08:15] Speaker A: Go ahead. [01:08:16] Speaker B: Quarterback is. Was pretty decent down the stretch last year. [01:08:19] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:08:20] Speaker B: And I love what they have. Yeah. Drake May. That's who it was. [01:08:25] Speaker A: I was gonna make him say the name Kyle. I hate you. By the way. Dak Prescott, plus 4,000 to be MVP. Names that are above him more likely to be MVP. Caleb Williams, Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, C.J. stroud. Baker Jordan Love. Jalen Hurts. Herbert Jaden Daniels. Mahomes Burrow Lamar Josh Allen. The name right below him. [01:08:51] Speaker C: Baker Mayfield is more likely to win an MVP than Dak Prescott. [01:08:56] Speaker A: From plus 4,000dak to plus 4,500. Trevor Lawrence. [01:09:02] Speaker C: Oh, gosh. Wow. [01:09:04] Speaker B: Those are the kinds of bets you just kind of take. Just because it's like you put a dollar on it. [01:09:08] Speaker A: You put a dollar, 45 bucks to get off of it. [01:09:11] Speaker B: There you go. [01:09:11] Speaker A: It's great. [01:09:12] Speaker B: Okay, any other takes that maybe we want to throw in there before we. [01:09:17] Speaker A: Get the rapid fires? [01:09:18] Speaker B: Because I do still feel like I have a Steelers take. [01:09:21] Speaker A: I think Kyle Pitts is going to be a top eight tight end in the NFL. [01:09:24] Speaker B: Oh, that's the pitch. [01:09:25] Speaker C: Draft him first round in your fantasy team for sure. That's going to work out. [01:09:30] Speaker B: I think the Steelers are going to win playoff game. [01:09:33] Speaker C: Wow. [01:09:34] Speaker A: You have crapped on Tomlin for years. [01:09:37] Speaker B: I think they're going to barely make it to the playoffs. They're going to win a playoff game. They're going to win a playoff game. I actually have said this. They're going to win a playoff game, and then they're going to immediately, like, lose, and they're going to still be stuck in limbo. But Tomlin gets to keep his job because he won that playoff game. [01:09:54] Speaker A: Question. If Dak wins the mvp, I'll buy a Dak jersey. Whoa. [01:10:02] Speaker B: Don't make me. [01:10:03] Speaker A: If the Steelers win a playoff game, you have to get an Aaron Rodgers Steelers jersey. [01:10:11] Speaker B: Can I think about this? [01:10:13] Speaker A: End of the episode. You need to decide. [01:10:15] Speaker B: I don't know if I have it, Kyle. [01:10:17] Speaker C: A Steelers one would be. That would be legendary. [01:10:21] Speaker A: Oh, you have to finally get a couch in our. Up in our studio. If we have more, I feel like. [01:10:28] Speaker C: Mine'S more likely than yours. [01:10:30] Speaker B: Mine's more likely than yours. That's not a fair bet. I've made up my mind. That's not a fair bet. [01:10:34] Speaker A: You just said. Wait, the thing that you said. It's very spicy compared to this one. [01:10:39] Speaker B: No. [01:10:39] Speaker A: Is it a blowbat? [01:10:40] Speaker B: No, I said it was very spicy compared to, like, I was talking about the Patriots pick. This take. This take I don't think is super spice. That's, like, mild. [01:10:49] Speaker C: Oh, he's cooling on it. [01:10:51] Speaker B: No, I'm not cooling out. [01:10:52] Speaker A: All right, I got you. All right. Typical. [01:10:54] Speaker C: Okay. [01:10:55] Speaker A: One of us goes out on a limb. [01:10:56] Speaker B: Gosh. I don't want it. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna do it. I don't want to be fun and spicy and be like, oh, yeah, I'll do it. I'll take. [01:11:04] Speaker A: What about we compare it? I'll say Falcons win their division. You can say Steelers win a playoff game. Could be the same. [01:11:11] Speaker B: Okay, that is actually. [01:11:13] Speaker C: That's kind of fun. [01:11:13] Speaker B: A level playing field. But I. I don't want to buy an Aaron Rodgers jersey ever. [01:11:17] Speaker C: So I'm not amazing. [01:11:21] Speaker B: It's not gonna do it. [01:11:23] Speaker C: You can think of it as a. [01:11:24] Speaker A: Different guy to think, not as. [01:11:26] Speaker C: Not the guy who played on the pack. [01:11:27] Speaker A: I would be Jacques Rogers. [01:11:29] Speaker B: I would be wasting almost a hundred bucks plus for a jersey. I will never. [01:11:36] Speaker A: What about a jersey shirt? [01:11:39] Speaker B: Jersey, sure. [01:11:40] Speaker C: What if we allow you to get, like, a knockoff brand? [01:11:44] Speaker B: Don't do this to me. Do it. [01:11:48] Speaker C: I just want to see you wear it. [01:11:49] Speaker A: So, no, I don't want to think. I bought alliance crew neck for you. All right, let's move to our award winners. [01:11:56] Speaker C: All right. [01:11:57] Speaker A: We think will be the super bowl winner and loser. [01:12:01] Speaker C: You don't need analysis on this. We're putting this in the capsule with our official prediction. [01:12:05] Speaker A: I do. It's actually. You don't have to. I don't want it. Like, don't give it right. Keep it. [01:12:10] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:12:11] Speaker A: Ravens over Cowboys, Bills over Lions. [01:12:14] Speaker B: I gave mine. Mine was Rams over Bengals. [01:12:18] Speaker C: That's a Super bowl winner and loser. League MVP Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Joe. [01:12:23] Speaker A: Burrow, Offensive rookie of the year. Amari and Hampton, running back from North Carolina. [01:12:29] Speaker C: And the Chargers, Ashton Genty. He's on the Raiders. [01:12:32] Speaker B: Matt golden for the Packers. [01:12:34] Speaker C: Oh. [01:12:35] Speaker A: Defensive rookie of the year. I'm taking defensive end Stewart out of Texas A M that plays for the Bengals only because I want him to win a defensive rookie of the year after all of the disputes with his contract. [01:12:51] Speaker C: Oh, that would be interesting. The Bengals, they're a mess. I'm going. Kenneth Grant, man from Michigan. [01:12:57] Speaker B: Ty Leak Williams, fly ins. Defensive tackle from Ohio State. It. [01:13:01] Speaker C: Wow. How could you do this? [01:13:04] Speaker A: Defensive player of the year. Hutch. [01:13:07] Speaker C: Hutch. [01:13:07] Speaker B: Hutch. [01:13:10] Speaker A: He's injured. Week one. Offensive player of the year, Jane Daniels. [01:13:15] Speaker C: Jir Gibbs, Puka Nakua. [01:13:18] Speaker A: Okay. Coach of the year, Jim Harbaugh. [01:13:22] Speaker C: Ben Johnson. [01:13:23] Speaker B: Jim Harbaugh. Oh, nice. I had it written down. [01:13:27] Speaker C: Wow. All right. [01:13:28] Speaker A: One coach who will get canned. Mike McDaniel, Brian Dabel, Brian Schottenheimer, Brian. [01:13:35] Speaker C: Schneimer, one and done. [01:13:37] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [01:13:37] Speaker C: Okay. [01:13:38] Speaker B: I think it was just a rollover hire there. [01:13:41] Speaker C: Yes. [01:13:42] Speaker B: I do not believe in that team at all. [01:13:45] Speaker A: I love it. [01:13:45] Speaker C: How about super bowl halftime performer? [01:13:48] Speaker B: Didn't they already Announce it? [01:13:49] Speaker C: I thought it's not announced. [01:13:51] Speaker B: Oh, man. Well, they've been going more like. Like rap. They've been going. [01:13:57] Speaker C: It was Kendrick Lamar last year. [01:13:58] Speaker B: It was. [01:14:00] Speaker C: I'm thinking Post Malone and Dua Lipa. [01:14:02] Speaker B: Ooh. [01:14:03] Speaker C: That's my prediction. What do you got? [01:14:07] Speaker B: I like the Post Malone. [01:14:08] Speaker C: Yeah. I like Dua Laba. [01:14:11] Speaker A: I'm taking Drake. [01:14:13] Speaker B: No, that would be so funny. [01:14:18] Speaker C: That'd be amazing. [01:14:19] Speaker A: Yeah, you tell me. The NFL doesn't flip flop from one thing to the other. [01:14:23] Speaker B: I didn't say that. I just said it was funny. [01:14:26] Speaker C: Pretty classic. [01:14:29] Speaker B: I was gonna say Coldplay because everything. [01:14:31] Speaker A: Oh, Gold blade. [01:14:33] Speaker C: Nice. [01:14:33] Speaker A: But they've done it. [01:14:34] Speaker B: They've already. They've done one, so they probably won't be it. I don't know if I have. Oh, man. [01:14:40] Speaker C: I didn't. [01:14:41] Speaker B: I wasn't prepared for this one. And it's even on here that I feel like that was just put. [01:14:46] Speaker A: SB Nation writes in a few names. I'm gonna list you some of them and just let you pick. Okay. Bad Bunny, Bad bony future, link. 182. [01:14:56] Speaker C: No, it doesn't. [01:14:58] Speaker A: Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll. [01:15:01] Speaker C: Oh. [01:15:02] Speaker A: Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Dua, Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Drake. [01:15:10] Speaker C: Let's see some Sabrina Carpenter. [01:15:12] Speaker A: Post Malone, who I'd love to see. [01:15:14] Speaker B: Post Malone's a good one. I was thinking, like, in my head because they're. We are officially like their target audience now. So they're going for a lot of, like, millennial All American Rejects, like millennial bands or rappers, like hip hop. So I could see them doing. [01:15:30] Speaker C: Come on, let's see. Ja Rule. [01:15:34] Speaker B: I can't even do his voice. Actually pretty good. We'll say there's going to be like a. A Backstreet Boys. [01:15:44] Speaker C: Oh, like, come on. [01:15:46] Speaker A: Yeah, bring like. [01:15:47] Speaker B: They'll bring all those guys back and they'll do like a Backstreet. [01:15:49] Speaker C: They've got the residency going on in Vegas right now at the Dome thingy. [01:15:53] Speaker B: I would have said NSync, but Justin Timberlake stock is falling and he's already done it a couple times, so. Yeah, I will. I'll go. Spicy me the ball. [01:16:02] Speaker A: I like the back. [01:16:05] Speaker B: That's spicier than. [01:16:07] Speaker A: How about we make an Aaron Rodgers? Anything else you guys got for the pod today? [01:16:13] Speaker C: Don't forget to tell us you want in our fantasy league. Please come and join us. We've got room. [01:16:19] Speaker A: Ian, anything? [01:16:21] Speaker B: Nope. [01:16:22] Speaker A: All right. They're gonna make sure that they keep their headphones on for the end of this one. Guys want to thank you for listening to the point after. If you're here in the pod right now, there's a reason. It's because you stayed for this. [01:16:36] Speaker B: I think there's gonna be, like, a story out there. You know, this is Tony Romo. He's gonna. I don't know. I don't know, guys. Intervention, meeting with him, trying to fix his, you know. You know, he's like, I'm going golfing. [01:16:53] Speaker A: I'll see you later. [01:16:54] Speaker B: He gets so depressed about that. Gets out a binge of crystal meth, forgets his throws, drives his car through a mall and just five people kill someone. Next thing you know, he's got, like, life in prison. Traded his crystal ball for some crystal meth. I believe we're gonna have maybe not Tony Romo, but there's gonna be a dude, there's gonna be a big name, and he's gonna up somehow. [01:17:20] Speaker A: Thanks for listening. Enjoy your day. [01:17:22] Speaker B: It's an old.
